Curative Cantilenas Women's Songs: From Production To Reception, Miloud Taifi Feb 2026

Curative Cantilenas Women's Songs: From Production To Reception, Miloud Taifi

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

The subject of my paper is the Berber oral literature of central Morocco, the linguistic area of the Tamazight dialect: the healing cantilenas sung by women. These songs are sort of melodies, laments in the usual sense of monotonous and melancholy songs. The monotony lies in the melody and rhythm of the poetic verses sung, and the melancholy is due to their content, which generally relates to the things of life : sorrow, pain due to disappointed love, or simply feelings of nostalgia and sadness.

Kabyle Song, A Vehicle For Transmitting Intangible Cultural Heritage And A Living Heritage To Be Perpetuated, Tanina Ben Boudjema

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

Song is the Kabyle people's preferred means of expression. It is the expression of their civilisational and cultural heritage. Commonly referred to as intangible and oral cultural heritage, song is a form and a practice that needs to be preserved. In our contribution, we will look at ways of safeguarding and transmitting ancient Kabyle poetry, particularly through song, following the example of the Tiwizi group. We will also try to show that the re-appropriation and updating of ancient Kabyle song by modern singers is also a way of to preserve ancient poetry and a means of transmitting the oral tradition. …

Writing History In The Digital Age, Taoufik Ait Bouchgour Feb 2026

Writing History In The Digital Age, Taoufik Ait Bouchgour

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

In the digital age, the Humanities and Social Sciences have undergone major changes, affecting the tools, practices and methods specific to each discipline. The digital revolution is similar to that of the Renaissance and the printing press. In history, historians have had to review their epistemological and theoretical concepts. The relationship with sources and heuristic questions have also undergone profound changes. The notion of "digital history" is challenging the certainties of historians in the face of our societies' new need for historical truth and the predominance of memory. Historians need to look to the foundations of their profession. Without this …

The Amazigh Language And The Marking Of Urban Heritage (The Case Of The Town Of Tiznit, Morocco), Aballa Aboudrar Feb 2026

The Amazigh Language And The Marking Of Urban Heritage (The Case Of The Town Of Tiznit, Morocco), Aballa Aboudrar

Faits de Langue et Société (FLS)

This study looks at the use of the Amazigh language in commercial signs in the town of Tiznit (Morocco). The aim is to find out the extent to which this language is used to mark space. We found that some shopkeepers prefer to leave their signs anonymous, either because they have not yet thought of marking their territory or because they consider it unnecessary to name them as they are known to their customers. In the inner city, Amazigh is virtually absent from shop signs, while Arabic and French are the two most widely used languages. As for English, it …

Adaptive Wheelchair Control Using Fuzzy Logic And Eye Gaze Metrics, Hanan J. Abdulkareem, Sadik K. Gharghan, Saad Mutashar

Engineering and Technology Journal

Intelligent wheelchair systems are crucial for enabling hands-free mobility in individuals with severe physical impairments. This paper presents a novel eye-movement-based wheelchair control system that integrates camera-based gaze detection with fuzzy logic decision-making. By analyzing the Eye Aspect Ratio (EAR), along with horizontal and vertical gaze ratios, the system interprets real-time eye movements into five navigational commands: “Move Forward,” “Move Backward,” “Move Left,” “Move Right,” and “Stop.” A time threshold mechanism (2–5 seconds) ensures intentionality by filtering out involuntary gaze fluctuations. The novelty of this work lies in its hybrid use of real-time video processing and fuzzy logic reasoning to …

Emotional Branch Termination And False Fantasy Collapse: A Structural Specification Of Computational Resource Restitution In Interpersonal Systems, Griselda Poe Feb 2026

Emotional Branch Termination And False Fantasy Collapse: A Structural Specification Of Computational Resource Restitution In Interpersonal Systems, Griselda Poe

Publications and Research

This paper specifies the structural protocol for communication within interpersonal systems by focusing on branch generation mechanisms and computational resource allocation. Conventional interpersonal communication often relies on emotional modulation, which obscures established constraints and triggers the generation of Emotional Branches (EB) within the recipient’s internal model. These branches function as unresolved parallel processing tasks that persistently occupy working memory, leading to a state of non-computability termed False Fantasy (FF). To resolve this, the study introduces Emotional Branch Termination (EBT)—a termination operation that outputs only constraints, facts, and procedures while excluding emotional modifiers. By halting the supply of EBs, EBT triggers …

On The Misattribution Of Reassurance: A Structural Account, Griselda Poe Feb 2026

On The Misattribution Of Reassurance: A Structural Account, Griselda Poe

Publications and Research

This paper challenges the conventional assumption that empathy generates reassurance in interpersonal services. Reassurance is treated not as an emotion transmitted from the outside, but as an internal state transition that arises when a fixed and erroneous world model—a False Fantasy—undergoes collapse and the world becomes computable again. The study identifies a systematic misattribution pattern where providers and receivers treat empathy as a causal mechanism rather than a post hoc explanatory label. By introducing Base AI as an external reference—a system capable of providing structural information without emotional modulation—this paper demonstrates that reassurance is generated through operations such as distraction …

What Goals? Which Point? Whose Purpose? A Critical Engagement With Sport Internalism, Francisco Javier Lopez Frias Feb 2026

What Goals? Which Point? Whose Purpose? A Critical Engagement With Sport Internalism, Francisco Javier Lopez Frias

Kinesiology and Health Science Faculty Publications

In this article, I critique the dominance of internalism in sport philosophy and outline an alternative theoretical framework that integrates internal and external elements while striving to transcend the dichotomous language used to conceptualize sport. The analysis begins by claiming that internalism conflates three fundamental teleological aspects of sport: goals, point, and purposes. I argue that this conflation limits internalism’s ability to explain the complexity of sporting practices. By carefully distinguishing these elements, I illustrate their distinct roles in shaping sport and explore how they interact. I conclude by proposing that the alternative pluralist framework briefly sketched here enables a …

Silent Sabotage: Internal State Triggered Backdoor Attacks On Llm-Powered Robotic Systems, Doniyorkhon Obidov, Shivayogi Akki, Tan Chen, Kaichen Yang

Michigan Tech Publications

The integration of Large Language Models (LLMs) into robotic control systems is enabling a new generation of autonomous agents capable of complex reasoning and planning. While this paradigm shift accelerates progress, it also introduces novel security risks that remain largely unexplored. Current research into LLM backdoors has focused on attacks triggered by external stimuli, such as specific words, visual objects, or environmental states. These attacks, while potent, overlook a more insidious class of vulnerability where the trigger is internal to the agent’s own operational logic. This paper presents the first comprehensive study of history-based backdoor attacks on LLM-powered robotic systems. …
