This paper introduces MuSE (Multispecies Sensory Engagement), an interactive silicone bioreactor designed to create emotional bonds between humans and kombucha SCOBY microorganisms. Guided by a More-than-Human-Centered-Design (MtHCD) and Research through Design (RtD) framework, this project applies the concepts of exposure therapy and embodied cognition to biology-based HCI, using an auto-ethnographic approach to explore how sensory interactions can shift human perceptions of less relatable life forms. MuSE translates the microorganisms health into sensory cues, creating opportunities for users to engage in caretaking and build empathy through light, movement and touch. Following the implementation of Taiwan's "zero euthanasia" policy, public animal shelters face rising intake numbers and declining service quality. This study applies service design methodology to optimize adoption services and promote responsible adoption behavior across two public shelters in eastern Taiwan. Using the triple diamond service design model, the research systematically progressed through three phases. The Problem Distillation phase employed experienscape model to identify environmental imbalances across sensory, functional, social, natural, and cultural dimensions. This research study examines the notion of posthuman welfare in communication design, focusing on the affordances of assistive and interactive technologies recontextualised within more-than-human-centred frameworks. The study furthers the ongoing critique of anthropocentrism in design, highlighting the necessity of integrating nonhuman agency and emotive value into technology systems. The study employs a mixed-methods approach that integrates mini-surveys with participatory design workshops, involving actual users, designers, caregivers and advocates for nonhuman perspectives, thereby amalgamating multiple small-scale hands-on methodologies. In contemporary society, escalating stress levels highlight the urgent demand for effective mental health tools, bringing significant attention to mindfulness. However, existing digital mindfulness tools predominantly rely on singular audio-visual guidance, often resulting in a disembodied experience and low user adherence. This study is based on five selected principles from the Twelve Basic Principles of Animation to design short video breathing guidance interfaces with different combinations of rhythm regularity and temporal expectation. An experiment with thirty participants was conducted to examine how these temporal design factors influence relaxation experience, attentional performance, and cognitive load. Data were collected through EEG recordings, subjective questionnaires, and interviews. The results indicate that interfaces with stable rhythmic structures and clear temporal cues significantly reduced uncertainty and cognitive load, enhanced relaxation, and improved user experience. Although user journey mapping is widely employed to analyze and diagnose user experiences, it offers limited support for design exploration and refining product and service concepts. Recent advances in generative AI have created new opportunities to reconceive the journey map as a tool for creative design inquiry. This study first identifies the limitations of existing tools and then conducts a formative investigation to clarify the requirements for a new approach. Contemporary visual warning systems primarily rely on conspicuity—using strong contrasts in color, brightness, and spatial arrangement—to attract attention. However, these systems often fail to ensure accurate interpretation and appropriate user response, particularly among cognitively vulnerable populations and within complex environments. To complement this limitation, this study introduces the concept of distinctiveness as a perceptual factor that enhances discrimination and interpretation in visual warning perception. Caregivers of adults with intellectual disabilities (ID) encounter various challenges that lead to stress and burnout. Although multi-modal behavioral information holds potential for improving caregiving efficiency in healthcare, there is still limited research on adapting these technologies to address the unique requirements of ID caregivers. This study employs an empathic design approach to understand the experiences, emotions, needs, and contextual challenges of ID caregivers regarding multi-modal behavioral information systems for adults with ID. Mental health chat bots have emerged as accessible tools for digital psychological support. However, many systems face limitations in conversational design, particularly in questioning strategies and interactional responsiveness. This review synthesises findings from 12 peer-reviewed studies published between 2015 and 2025, identifying common design issues including rigid dialogue structures, limited contextual awareness, and insufficient emotional engagement. Thematic analysis reveals a consistent lack of structured approaches to guide the design of empathic and context-aware interactions. Troubleshooting complex consumer electronic products often overwhelms novice users due to limited technical knowledge and the complexity of diagnostic procedures. This study presents an AI-powered conversational assistant that guides users step-by-step through identifying and resolving product issues. Using the VanMoof S3 e-bike as a case study, the system integrates a Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) framework trained on public data, including Reddit threads and user manuals. The interface supports natural dialogue to help users not only fix symptoms but also understand root causes. Digital Twins (DTs) have been widely applied in industrial and urban contexts to optimize systems, yet their potential to enhance energy awareness in everyday domestic life remains under explored. This paper investigates how DT-enabled services can support energy sustainability in smart homes. Adopting a service design approach, we conducted a three-phase process: (1) expert interviews (N=8) to identify opportunities to integrate DTs in smart homes, 2) co-design workshops with designers (N=18) to generate service scenarios, and (3) prototyping and co-constructing stories with end-users (N=10) to develop and evaluate a energy budgeting tool concept. This paper presents an expert-driven co-design process for defining gesture-based interactions in immersive environments. Existing co-design methods often struggles with expressing abstract design elements, reaching consensus among diverse users, and translating qualitative feedback into actionable outcomes. We propose a four-stage co-design process for improving gesture-based interaction design, consisting of data collection, co-design session, expert discussion, and design decision-making, which integrates expert knowledge with embodied practice. This study investigates the application of machine learning in evaluating brand typicality during product line extension, taking inspiration from Dyson’s recent expansion into the headphone category. The research process comprised four main stages: extraction of visual features via Design Format Analysis (DFA), development of an image classification model on the WEKA platform, generation of Dyson-style speaker images using Stable Diffusion, and expert evaluation of the results. The classification model reached an accuracy of 87.21%, demonstrating an ability to distinguish between Dyson and non-Dyson styles. Traditional Chinese landscape painting constructs spatial depth through scattered perspective and shifting viewpoints, enabling a layered, rhythmic experience of wandering the scroll. This spatial logic differs fundamentally from linear perspective and poses unique challenges for immersive translation. Based on design thinking principles, this study explores how children with different types of learning motivation—curiosity-driven and task-oriented—engage with a prompt-based interface to search for books and record their reflections after reading. By integrating the concept of prompt engineering into library search and information retrieval interfaces, the researcher conducted qualitative observations of children’s behavioral responses during interface interactions. The study identified two distinct interaction patterns among participating children (ages 7 to 11), leading to the development of two corresponding interface strategies and the subsequent creation of initial prototype tests. This qualitative study proposes a new method for designing exploratory technologies aimed at promoting behavior awareness during the Pre contemplation stage of the Trans theoretical Model (TTM) of behavior change. In this early stage, individuals are often unaware of problematic behaviors and lack motivation to act. Exploratory technologies, defined here as artifacts that help users uncover and interpret personal information, offer a way to stimulate self-reflection without imposing predefined goals. At present, the protection of intangible cultural heritage (ICH) has entered the stage of systematic protection. The National Eco-Cultural Protection Zones (NECPs), first created by China, are an important model for protecting ICH in the social-natural-cultural ecosystem.
