Prejudice Reduction In Public Schools: A Dialogic Approach, Maru Gonzalez, Michael J. Kokozos
Journal of Educational Research and Practice
Increasingly, students are facing hostility and violence as a result of one or more of their social group memberships. Such prejudicial attitudes and actions contribute to antagonistic intergroup relationships in public schools (i.e., K–12). This article examines dialogic approaches to prejudice reduction, with a specific emphasis on intergroup dialogue in public K–12 schools. Evidence-based steps and strategies that educators can use to develop intergroup dialogue competencies and cultivate a more dialogic environment in their schools and classrooms are also introduced.

Research on the effectiveness of the two most widely utilized school-based prevention programs in the state of New Jersey, Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) and Law Enforcement Against Drugs (L.E.A.D.). Research was conducted using the New Jersey Department of Educa- tion School Violence, Vandalism and Substance Abuse Reports for the 2016-2017 academic year to measure the influences of either program on students in public school districts throughout the state. Using District Factor Groups A-J, three-hundred four middle, intermediate, and upper schools using either programs were analyzed, with the only statistically significant variable was a relationship between enrollment and the variables …

SST 598 Special Topics Section 1: Food and Film Monday, 1:00-3:30 p.m., Ava Lowrey , Barnard Observatory, Room 108 In this one semester production course, students learn documentary filmmaking skills and complete a short four to seven minute documentary film about a Southern foodways topic of their choice from first pitch to final edit.

OBJECTIVE Meeting departmental goals and student expectations are a challenge with evolving budgets and changing perspectives on the purpose of library space. Repurposing library space to meet student needs while maintaining appropriate collections is a challenge and an opportunity for librarians and patrons alike. At South College, institutional growth and student demand for study space, both physical space and time, highlighted a need for change within the physical confines of the library department.

This article describes Robert James Baker’s academic pedigree and genealogy, his scientific productivity (number of publications), his citations, his students, his contributions to his university and scientific societies, his personality in relation to his scientific achievements, his legacy, and a personal note of appreciation by individuals who worked with him and knew him well. His accomplishments are compared with other dominant personalities in the field of mammalogy, both historical and contemporary. With the rise of the digital age has come about a new form of communicating concepts—the meme: repeatable, transferable information. The purpose of this project is to understand the inclusive nature of internet communication not restricted by barriers. This format plays with the boundaries to imagination, creating a new form of communication not relying on language, color, or shape, but the interchange of these within an established concept. Counselor educators at primarily teaching focused institutions often struggle to find both time and interested students to support an active research agenda. Engaging clinically minded students in scientific research is central to their development and also fought with challenges (Jorgensen & Duncan, 2014; Huber & Savage, 2009; Steel & Rawls, 2014). Chiefly courtship letters written by Edward Daniel Covington while teaching high school industrial arts classes at St. Petersburg High School in Florida to his girlfriend and future wife, Evelyn Reynolds, Cave City, Kentucky. The 1933 letters mention the financial effects of the Great Depression and the difficulty of paying teachers.

The Spring Into Health community health fair was an interprofessional education (IPE) event
hosted by the University of Louisiana Monroe (ULM) College of Pharmacy's Christian
Pharmacists Fellowship International (CPFI) organization. The event included the participation
of several student pharmacy groups, as well as the ULM nursing, dental hygiene, medical
laboratory science, and health studies departments. Every organization involved in the health fair
provided either a health screening or a health education topic to the community of Ouachita

For Liam Nieman, a University of Mississippi senior who interned at the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum in Nashville, Tennessee, for two months, being immersed in what's known as the "Smithsonian of country music" provided invaluable insight.
