May Swenson Poetry Award Volume 13, with foreward by Billy Collins. Tomorrow's Living Room offers a pleasantly disorienting verbal territory. The collection is alternately wry and dark, hopeful and bleak, full of unexpected light and laugh-out-loud incongruities. We begin to see that the shape and the furniture of Jason Whitmarsh's world reflect our own world (and may in fact be universal), but we're considering them through completely new terms of engagement.

Hello Kitty Goes To College: Poems About Harassment In The Academy, Sandra L. Faulkner, Bernadette Marie Calafell, Diane Susan Grimes
Critical Race and Ethnic Studies Faculty Scholarship
This essay presents a series of poems that fictionalize professors’ and students’ experiences and narratives of sexual harassment in the academy through the use of the cartoon character, Hello Kitty. The poems demonstrate administrative and fellow professors’ reactions to the standpoints of women of color, untenured professors, and students that experience harassment. The essay argues that a fictional account is necessary to represent these experiences given the academy’s prevalent power structure. The use of feminist and critical race theory places the poems in the context of the harassment literature and demonstrates how reactions to the presentation of standpoints are an …

Videopoetry: Integrating Video, Poetry And History In The Classroom, James Armstrong, Peter Lutze, Laura Woodworth-Ney
Literacy, Language and Culture Faculty Publications and Presentations
VideoPoetry integrates video and poetry to explore historical or geographic subjects. VideoPoetry is both a process and a product. This paper will use a short VideoPoem, "Mary Hallock Foote at Stone House," to demonstrate how students of all educational levels can become engaged in creating VideoPoetry. Each VideoPoem offers students a cross-disciplinary experience that involves research, analysis of information, imaginative writing and video composition leading to a classroom presentation of the final product.
As a process VideoPoetry requires the investigation of a subject, in this case, Mary Hallock Foote, artist and illustrator of the Western United States. Based on the …
