The Path To The Land Conservancy Of Adams County, Mary Margaret Stewart

English Faculty Publications

As part of this year's observation of Land Conservancy Month, board member and retired Gettysburg College English Department chair Mary Margaret Stewart has prepared an annotated bibliography of readings on land preservation, land conservation, and land trusts. Beginning with Henry David Thoreau and John Muir and extending through the works of Wendell Berry and Annie Dillard and on to a survey of books discussing the philosophy behind the land trust movement, Mary Margaret's bibliography is an outstanding resource for those who want to learn more about protecting our wild and undeveloped spaces.

PURPOSE: To explore whether disparities in outcomes exist between African American (AA) and Caucasian (CS) men with low-grade prostate cancer and similar cancer of the prostate risk assessment-postsurgery (CAPRA-S) features following prostatectomy (RP).

METHODS: The overall cohort consisted of 1,265 men (234 AA and 1,031 CS) who met the National comprehensive cancer network criteria for low- to intermediate-risk prostate cancer and underwent RP between 1990 and 2012. We first evaluated whether clinical factors were associated with adverse pathologic outcomes and freedom from biochemical failure (FFbF) using the entire cohort. Land-Value Taxation As A Method Of Encouraging Growth In Baltimore, Michael Safko Jan 2015

Land-Value Taxation As A Method Of Encouraging Growth In Baltimore, Michael Safko

University of Baltimore Journal of Land and Development

Law Faculty Publications

In 2015 we celebrated the two hundredth anniversary of the birth of John William Wallace-librarian, court reporter, historian-who was born February 17, 1815 in Philadelphia and died on January 12, 1884. Known mostly as a reporter for the U.S. Supreme Court, this short biography tries to expand on some of the other accomplishments of his life. He was the son of John Bradford Wallace and Susan Binney, sister of the eminent Philadelphia lawyer, Horace Binney and descendant of the two famous printers in Pennsylvania, two William Bradfords in colonial Pennsylvania. Wallace studied law in his father's office and John Sergeant. …

In Search Of A New Jerusalem: A Preliminary Investigation Into The Causes And Impact Of Welsh Quaker Emigration To Pennsylvania, C.1660 - 1750, Richard C. Allen

Quaker Studies

The establishment of the North American Association for the Study of Welsh Culture and History (NAASW CH) in the mid 1990s has informed the work of historians on both sides of the Atlantic, and yet the important early history of Welsh emigration to America and reverse migration has still to be fully addressed.
