The Cattle Industry Of San Juan County, Utah, 1875-1900, Franklin D. Day
Theses and Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to learn the reasons for the movement of cattle Into San Juan County, Utah, the development of the Industry, and its contribution to the growth of the county.
The few written accounts in existence of the cattle industry in San Juan are brief and found in widely separate areas. The whole and complete account will likely never be written, but there is need for gathering as much of the scattered information as possible.
A study of the early history of the inhabitants of San Juan was made, along with an examination of the geography …

A History Of Fort Phil Kearny, John William Dennison
A History Of Fort Phil Kearny, John William Dennison
Student Work
The establishment of Fort Phil Kearny was an outstanding example of what Ray A. Bullington in his book, Westward Expansion, described as "a cost of blood, wealth, and human decency which will forever slain the annals of the American frontier." This was a result of weakness on the part of the administration, plus a lack of co-operation between the War Department and the Department of Indian Affairs. The conflict between these two departments have little guidance to any policy for the frontier. The administration changed policy from war with the Indian to peace and back again as easily as blowing …

Muresk Agricultural College, W. Southern
Journal of the Department of Agriculture, Western Australia, Series 3
When the West Australian Government established Muresk Agricultural College in 1926, it added a new chapter to an interesting story of land settlement and utilisation which had its origin in the early years of the Swan River Colony. Much of the present College land was included in a 4,400-acre grant made to Henry Reveley in 183, but portions of the grant were forfeited in the same year and taken up by Du Bois Agett, the property then being known as Down Farm.

An Early History Of Milford Up To Its Incorporation As A Town, George A. Horton Jr.
Theses and Dissertations
The first known party of white men who entered the area that became Utah included a Franciscan Friar, Silvestre Velez de Escalante. This expedition passed through the Milford Valley in the fall of 1776 and it was when they were camped at San Brigida, near or on the present site of Milford, that the important decision to turn back to Sante Fe was made.
Near the hot springs which are 15 or 20 miles farther south, Escalante recorded that the territory of the bearded Indians they had first encountered at the Sevier River extended to that point. It is not …
