London On The Eve Of War, 1642, Daniel Roberts
London On The Eve Of War, 1642, Daniel Roberts
Master's Theses
At the beginning of his reign the City of London was well-disposed toward King Charles I. Yet, in early January 1642, he felt compelled to flee the environs of the capital. This essay seeks to describe the cause of alienation between King and capital, concluding that Charles' policies so abused the City and its leaders that their natural royalist predisposition was shattered and London became the engine of Parliament's victory in the Civil War. Chapter One describes the physical appearance of the City of London at the time. The second chapter is a demographic survey portraying the city fathers' as …

Lower Goshen: Archaeology Of A Mormon Pioneer Town, Dale L. Berge
BYU Studies
Lower Goshen, three miles northwest of present-day Goshen, Utah, was a Mormon pioneer town. Lower Goshen was settled in 1860 and abandoned by the end of the decade. The town lay undisturbed for nearly 120 years. The article discusses the artifacts found there and attempts to put together an image of life as a pioneer in Utah. Everything from glass bottles and bottle stops to log cabins, jewelry to military buttons, were found in the archaeological dig.

Phase II cultural resources investigations at the proposed Justiceburg Reservoir in Garza and Kent counties, Texas, conducted in 1988-1989 included work at four historic sites, the recording of a previously unrecorded historic site, and development of two National Register contexts. This report documents the archeological work at the sites and presents data that resulted from in-depth research concerning the history of the use and development of these sites. A U.S. Perspective On The Ec Hormones Directive, Holly Hammonds
A U.S. Perspective On The Ec Hormones Directive, Holly Hammonds
Michigan Journal of International Law
On December 31, 1985, the European Community ["EC"] adopted the "Council Directive Prohibiting the Use in Livestock Farming of Certain Substances Having a Hormonal Action" ("the Directive"). The directive, originally scheduled to take effect on January 1, 1988, prohibits the use of hormones, natural and synthetic, in livestock production and the sale of meat treated with hormones in the EC market. The United States believes that the directive violates the requirements of the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade ("Standards Code" or "Code").
Integrated Social Studies Curriculum For The Combined Third, Fourth, And Fifth Grade Classroom, Kenneth Irwin Ecker
Integrated Social Studies Curriculum For The Combined Third, Fourth, And Fifth Grade Classroom, Kenneth Irwin Ecker
All Graduate Projects
A social studies curriculum was developed for use in a multi-grade classroom. The curriculum incorporates the learning objectives from each of the three grade levels in a format which can be presented simultaneously to students in all three grades, while directing a separate focus for each grade. The unique qualities and limitations of the multi-grade classroom were considered, and implications for the teacher are discussed. An informal pilot study assessed the useability and effectiveness of the curriculum.
The Hormone Conflict Between The Eec And The United States Within The Context Of Gatt, Werner P. Meng
The Hormone Conflict Between The Eec And The United States Within The Context Of Gatt, Werner P. Meng
Michigan Journal of International Law
For many years, consumer organizations within the European Community have demanded the prohibition of natural and synthetic hormones from use in animal fodder. Since the level of hormone use by breeders varies among Member States, demands for a hormone prohibition have also differed in intensity from State to State. After lengthy negotiations beset with legal difficulties, a general, community-wide prohibition became reality at the beginning of 1989. The price of this policy has been trade difficulties with the United States which, up to the present time,' have resulted in trade sanctions and economic losses on both sides. Since both parties …
