The purposes of this study are: to endeavor, as many other similar studies have done to point up and emphasize certain key concepts and ideas regarding the social life on a small college campus; to recognize existing problems; to give the students’ reactions to these problems and their proposed ways of solving them; finally, to find the needs of the students not reached by the existing program and to plan ways of implanting these in the social whole.

Following a recommendation that further study be made on the socialization of extra-curricular activities, the writer made this study to find to what extent socialization is realized through participation in extra-curricular activities at Lincoln High School, Salina, Kansas.

Books, periodicals, student handbooks, and handbooks of youth organizations were studied to determine the social values most important for living successfully in society. These qualities or social values were used in making the three questionnaires which were given to the teachers and pupils of Lincoln High School. One questionnaire was given to the pupils in October and another in March.

Surveys conducted in 1947 indicated that the number of students participating in collegiate forensics had returned to prewar levels, and reports on the 1947-1948 season marked a new high in both interest and activity. In the midst of this upsurge, we may inquire as to what forensics are doing for and to the student, and ultimately for society. As we find ourselves in a season of squad meetings, practice sessions, tournaments, and post-tournament lamentations, it may be well to inquire if our forensic programs are developing students who want to make democracy work as well as enjoy its blessings.

Preston County 1g ono of the important counties of the State of West Virginia. It borders on two state a, Pennsylvania and Maryland, and four counties of West Virginia, Tucker, Barbour, Taylor and Monongalia. Preston County was formed from Monongalia in 1818. It has an area of seven hundred square miles, being one of the larger counties of the state. It extends along the full eastern Maryland line, thirty-six miles and along the Mason and Dixon line, twenty-two miles. The purpose of this study was to ascertain to what extent pupils do not comprehend the reading material in the social studies and to discover the causes of this deficiency. Two types of research techniques were used: (1) pencil and paper tests which were given to sixty-two pupils, and (2) oral interviews with thirty-one pupils who had previously taken the pencil and paper tests.

A Study Of The Self-Analysis Method As Used In Improving The Study Habits Of The Student Of Intermediate Psychology At The Municipal University Of Omaha, Peter V. Knolla

This study is based upon the idea that a student can make a self-analysis of this study habits and use available tools to correct existing faults. For this purpose, the writer compiled the "Study Aid Pamphlet." (See Appendix, Table I). This pamphlet was composed of a list of tested study procedures and included Ruch's "Study Habit Inventory" questions. This concept is tested on two numerically equal groups of students in Intermediate Psychology. These groups are paired on the basis of the Ohio College Association Test and are designated as the Experimental Group and the Control Group.
