The discussion examines the current state of educators' rights and identifies two key areas that are still hotly contested: extramural utterances that my be critical of the institution itself and a teacher's freedom with his own classroom. A survey of two recent cases illuminates these issues.

It was the purpose of this study to compare the attitudes of the adolescents of ages 17 to 19 who attended school in Turkey and the United States. Specifically, the research attempted to investigate the extent of similarity and dissimilarity between the attitudes of the present American and Turkish adolescents of ages 17 to 19 who attended school in Istanbul, Turkey and California, U.S.A., towards: (1) their teacher, (2) their peers, (3) their parents, (4) institutional constraint, (5) their self concept, and (6) their academic aspirations. The investigator was a cross-cultural study which had data from prospective cultures.

This study is relevant to the potential utility of a developmental approach to the assessment of ability in students designated “Edicable Mentally Retarded”. Piaget’s conceptualization of seriation as an essential component of logical thinking, related to perception, suggested a linkage between dimensions of thinking and imagery, generally treated independently.

The purpose of this study was to assess the perceptions of counselors, vocational nursing students, and associate degree nursing students in three community colleges, and baccalaureate degree nursing students at two universities, in relation to a nursing education model. The nursing education model encompassed two areas: (1) characteristics of the vocational nursing, associate degree nursing and baccalaureate degree nursing programs, and (2) occupational functioning of the graduates of these programs. The purpose of this explanatory study was to determine whether teachers using either the traditional-didactic or the experimental-discovery method of instruction significantly affected the self-concept, academic self-concept, or the locus of control of their students. A secondary purpose of the study was to ascertain if a significant correlation existed between self-concept and locus of control.

In the 1970s in Richgrove, CA there were approximately 800 residents. The school board at the time was controlled by growers. The city was composed of 80% Chicanos and 20% Filipinos. The demographic of the board and school administration did not match the community that they served, which resulted in a lack of understanding of student experiences. The children in that city suffered living in poverty and faced a school system that was inherently racist. During the decades of the 1820's and 1830's, educators in this country studied the European schools where the principles of Johann H. Pestalozzi (1746-1827), Friedrick Froebel (1782-1852), and Emanuel Fellenberg (1771-1844) had been put into practice with favorable results. The Prussian normal schools established by Frederick the Great were some of the best in the world. American educators came back with glowing reports of the progress Europeans were making in this direction. The purpose of this study was to develop Phase II in the Basic Educational Experiences Program, Phase I (6) of which was already in use in Yakima's Elementary Schools. Phase I was a minimal program in motor-sensory development.
