A common philosophy of administrators and music educators should be prerequisite for a successful music program. This philosophy should permit enough flexibility to allow for individual differences and yet be rigid enough to encompass general education needs and goals. It can only be shared through communication. The place of music within the curriculum will be understood through this communication between the music educator and the chief administrator. It shall be the purpose of this study to encourage the shared philosophy and communication relationship between school music educators and their administrators.

A review of the literature reveals a lack of information on planning and implementing team teaching at the first grade level. From the interest shown by visitors to South Auburn and the questions asked about the program, it is apparent that information on implementing team teaching is needed by educators considering similar implementation.

It was the purpose of this study to compare the attitudes of the adolescents of ages 17 to 19 who attended school in Turkey and the United States. Specifically, the research attempted to investigate the extent of similarity and dissimilarity between the attitudes of the present American and Turkish adolescents of ages 17 to 19 who attended school in Istanbul, Turkey and California, U.S.A., towards: (1) their teacher, (2) their peers, (3) their parents, (4) institutional constraint, (5) their self concept, and (6) their academic aspirations. The investigator was a cross-cultural study which had data from prospective cultures.

The purpose of this explanatory study was to determine whether teachers using either the traditional-didactic or the experimental-discovery method of instruction significantly affected the self-concept, academic self-concept, or the locus of control of their students. In the 1970s in Richgrove, CA there were approximately 800 residents. The school board at the time was controlled by growers. The city was composed of 80% Chicanos and 20% Filipinos. The demographic of the board and school administration did not match the community that they served, which resulted in a lack of understanding of student experiences. The children in that city suffered living in poverty and faced a school system that was inherently racist. Due to the low economic area from which the subjects for this experiment were chosen, many were lacking in environmental experiences which contributed to their growth in reading skills and interests in the primary grades. This experiment was devised as a means to study reading difficulties in children from a low socioeconomic area, while, at the same time, parents were used to help overcome those problems. The main purpose of this study was to compare and contrast improvement in reading interest and reading skills in matched groups of subjects of an experimental and a control group.

Children come to school speaking the language of their speech community. For some children, the language in their speech community is a variety of English that differs from standard English or what may be called "school English." These children may experience great difficulties in speaking standard English. This problem is one of social class dialect rather than regional language variation. The purpose of this study is to describe certain characteristics in which the language of a class of third grade Negro children differs from standard English.
