Purpose: The purposes of this study were to: 1) provide information which will facilitate the development of meaningful and realistic internships for fashion merchandising students, 2) determine the degree of agreement between retailers and educators concerning internships, and 3) determine if different types of retailers have different attitudes toward internship experiences. Procedures: California four year college and university educators and retailers were surveyed. The questionnaire items concerned school characteristics influencing retailer participation in internship programs, intern selection criteria, coursework important for students to complete prior to internships, and activities that interns should experience during a retail internship. Factors Influencing Post - High School Graduation Plans Of Students Enrolled In Food Service-Related Courses At California Regional Occupation Centers/Programs (Career Selection, Occupational Choice, Vocational), Faye Candace Stucy Johnson

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to determine the degree of influence from various factors on a student's decision to enroll in a food service-related course and whether these factors were affected by post high school graduation plans.
Procedure: Sixty-nine percent of the Regional Occupational Centers/ Programs teachers and one section of students instructed by each teacher completed the survey instruments. The questionnaire items queried the respondents concerning demographic information as well as the degree of influence of various person- and job-related factors.
Findings and Conclusions: Results of this investigation revealed that the responding student population had a strong …

Purpose. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the relationships that exist between current practices employed by California school districts to provide inservice training for elementary principals and pupil academic achievement. Procedure. The extreme high and low school districts with respect to pupil academic achievement were identified using 1981 district scores and comparison score bands for the California Assessment Program, grade six test. The superintendents in all of the districts and all principals in a systematically selected sample of those districts were surveyed by mail to determine practices, policies and perceptions pertaining to inservice training for elementary principals. The researcher in this study sought to examine the relationship between clinical and traditional supervision models and teacher need strength. The problem that this study addressed can best be stated in the form of a question: What (if any) effect does clinical and traditional supervision have on the satisfaction levels of higher and lower-order need teachers? The study which extended from October, 1983, through February, 1984, was a field experiment conducted in fifteen school districts in southern California. The purposes of this research were to (a) define the procedures used in evaluating children for admission to independent school kindergartens, (b) to investigate selected variables and ascertain their significance in the admissions process and, (c) to formulate guidelines for assessing applicants to independent school kindergartens. Subjects were 119 randomly selected independent school admissions officers and 11 professors in universities in the United States. Data were gathered from the subjects through a 25 item survey instrument designed by the researcher. Problem. Since the 1960s there has been increasing interest in the development of social indicators, educational indicators being an important subset of these. Studies in the U.S. and Europe have sought to (1) establish a conceptual framework for educational indicators, and (2) identify indicators useful for economic planning and monitoring the state of education. The need for these indicators in developing countries has also been identified. The researcher sought by (1) a correlational/predictive study and (2) an exploratory opinionnaire to validate a list of indicators for monitoring primary education in Jamaica and guiding financial choices.

The problem was to determine whether a significant relationship existed among the present positions, career goals, and results of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator using selected college and university personnel administrators in the Southern Region of the College and University Personnel Association (CUPA). The purpose of this study was to determine the status of general education and occupational program articulation efforts and practices as they existed between community colleges and the public secondary and vocational schools in Virginia. The purpose of this study was to determine if participation in an experiential based instructional program for exploring vocations in emerging and new technologies would enable academically able high school juniors and seniors to attain increased maturity of attitudes and competency in career decision-making skills as measured by the Career Maturity Inventory. A total of 64 students participated in the study. Participants came from a pool of 132 junior and senior high school students identified as having a grade point average that placed them in the top thirty percent of their class. The purpose of this study was to analyze teacher evaluation instruments in use in Tennessee public school systems relative to type of instrument and content in relation to six school system characteristics. Differences were sought between school systems in relation to participation in teacher contract negotiations, per pupil expenditure, average annual teacher salary, method of selection of superintendents, type of school system, and size of school system in their choice of type of instrument and in the content of their instruments.
