This study examines how community, family, and educational dynamics impact behavioral and academic outcomes for students in urban communities, focusing on Black and Latinx youth. Through qualitative research involving interviews and observations, the study explores how factors like family instability, economic challenges, and community violence influence students’ behaviors and motivations in school. Findings reveal that unresolved trauma and external stresses manifest in the behavior and emotions of students within the classroom, affecting both student engagement and achievement. The research offers insights for educators, counselors/ therapists, social workers, families and policymakers to develop supportive interventions that address students’ unique experiences.

This paper highlights the impact of a university for-credit introductory mindfulness course. Research compiled from student reflections, surveys, and interviews revealed that it had a notable impact on personal growth and development, including the capacity to navigate challenges, manage difficult emotions, and build resilience. This enhanced student learning, decision making, engagement, and connection to themselves, others, and the world around them. Course pedagogy and curriculum are included here alongside a narrative account of student experiences in the course. These findings indicate a promising practice for schools to include well-being supports in the student experience.

Postpartum depression (PPD) and postpartum anxiety are common mental health conditions that women experience after childbirth. PPD involves intense feelings of extreme sadness, and diminished interests in activities that once brought them happiness. Postpartum anxiety involves constant worry and fear, often centered on the well-being of the baby. Symptoms may include restlessness or irritability, panic attacks, and trouble concentrating or sleeping. Theresa Eke recounts the history of the Daughters of Charity’s service in Africa and explains the evolution of their approach to poverty alleviation there. The Daughters learned the importance of knowing the cultures and languages of those they served. At first, they addressed poverty with donations of material goods, but later they empowered the poor, teaching them skills and helping them establish farms and businesses, particularly through helping them to purchase equipment. The present study experimentally examined the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on elementary African American males living in rural areas. The qualitative study used a phenomenological approach to examine students' perspectives, as understood by the parents and educators (N=10). Using semi-structured interviews and thematic coding, the researcher suggested strategies for successfully closing instructional gaps and meeting the needs of this population moving forward.

Introduction The market for virtual reality simulators designed to simulate retrograde intrarenal kidney stone (RIRS) surgery, utilising flexible ureteroscopes, is highly limited and dominated by a handful of simulators. The objective of our research is to carry out a pilot study and to provide a description of Endoflex, a transportable virtual flexible ureterorenoscopy simulator for kidney stone treatment. Objective: To investigate the relationship between social intelligence (SI), empathy, and self-esteem among nursing students. Methods: A quantitative cross-sectional design was utilized to conduct this study. Data were collected from 465 students from 4 different nursing colleges between April and November 2021. The Tromso Social Intelligence Scale (TSIS), Jefferson Empathy Scale, and Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale were used to collect data. This study investigates the effects of fiscal deficits on human development in Nigeria from 1990 to 2021, employing standard econometric and machine learning approaches. Specifically, the paper applies autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) models to examine linear relationships, and multivariate adaptive regression splines (MARS) to capture linear and nonlinear interactions among key variables influencing human development. Results from the ARDL analysis reveal that fiscal deficit does not significantly impact human development in Nigeria both in the short- and long run. However, MARS results indicate that fiscal deficits only enhance human development when kept below 1.34% of GDP but become detrimental beyond …
