Using The R Library Rpanel For Gui-Based Simulations In Introductory Statistics Courses, Ryan M. Allison May 2012

Using The R Library Rpanel For Gui-Based Simulations In Introductory Statistics Courses, Ryan M. Allison

Statistics

As a student, I noticed that the statistical package R (http://www.r-project.org) would have several benefits of its usage in the classroom. One benefit to the package is its free and open-source nature. This would be a great benefit for instructors and students alike since it would be of no cost to use, unlike other statistical packages. Due to this, students could continue using the program after their statistical courses and into their professional careers. It would be good to expose students while they are in school to a tool that professionals use in industry. R also has powerful …

Navigation And Accessibility For Persons With Disabilities: An Anthropological Study Using Gis On The University Of Arkansas Campus, Deborah Jean Raiees-Dana

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

The University of Arkansas was founded in 1871 on the top of a hill overlooking the Ozark Mountains, resulting in a campus that has steep slopes and numerous historical buildings that were not designed with ADA regulations in mind. This makes getting around campus especially difficult for students with limited mobility, and no campus maps exist that include handicapped accessibility features to help navigate the terrain and limited parking options. This study examines this issue using a holistic approach that explores cultural and technological factors to produce a map of the Historic Core District of campus.

Entitled To Cheat: An Examination Of Incoming Freshmen At A Small Regional University, Paul D. Shapiro

The Journal of Public and Professional Sociology

On their first day of college, 363 incoming freshmen were surveyed at a small regional public university in the Southeastern United States to determine how their senses of entitlement and superiority influence their tolerance of cheating behavior. Descriptive statistics reveal these incoming freshmen are entering college with disturbingly high academic entitlement scores; plus, they also appear quite tolerant of cheating behavior. Initial bivariate analysis shows a positive association between the students’ sense of entitlement and their tolerance of cheating; while a negative association between a self-assessed superiority measure and the students’ cheating tolerance is found. In a series of multiple …
