The Teacher As Liberator: An Analysis Of The Philosophy Of Education Of Friedrich Nietzsche (1973), Ann Margaret Sharp
The Teacher As Liberator: An Analysis Of The Philosophy Of Education Of Friedrich Nietzsche (1973), Ann Margaret Sharp
Collected Papers of Ann Margaret Sharp
This dissertation will be an exegesis of the educational thought of Friedrich Nietzsche with the central focus on his conception of the teacher as liberator. This will involve an analysis of his conception of freedom, an analysis which involves a grasp of his philosophy as a whole. Nietzsche never wrote a systematic educational philosophy. Yet, in a certain sense, education is his primary concern. "I teach you the overman. Man is something that shall be overcome.... The overman is the meaning of the earth." In Nietzsche's view, the conscious production of the overman, a person who is characterized by a …
Survey Of Education Of Aboriginal Children In Selected Western Australian Schools : (Preliminary Survey), C. Makin, D. Ibbotson
Survey Of Education Of Aboriginal Children In Selected Western Australian Schools : (Preliminary Survey), C. Makin, D. Ibbotson
Research outputs pre 2011
Information was sought late in 1972 about problems encountered by teachers in schools with a fairly high proportion of Aboriginal children. For this purpose a questionnaire was designed to elicit information about the school situation, the surrounding community, enrolment, age and experience of the teaching staff and actual pedagogical problems encountered and methods of dealing with them. Another principle aim was to ascertain the extent to which the curiculum had been adapted to local situations and to determine what implications this might have for pre-service and in-service training.

A Study Of Bilingualism And Self-Esteem Among High School Children Of Chinese Decent In New York City, Siew-Keok Chua
Honors Papers
Approach of the study: The present report is divided into five chapters. Chapter II begins by considering the literature of bilingualism which has been written during this decade in sociological, linguistic, and psychological fields. It goes further to describe briefly bilingual education, which has very recently developed to be used as effective education for ethnic group children. The attempt of this study is to test the hypothetical assumption in socio-psychological aspect of ethnic children. In Chapter III, the focus is moved to the survey. Here I attempt to indicate how the relevance of research work may be influenced by methodology …

A Comparative Analysis Of Head Start Graduates Their Disadvantaged Peers, And Children Above-Poverty Guidelines, Rodger William Debritz
All Master's Theses
This study investigated the impact of a Head Start program upon its participants and compared the performance of these children to their disadvantaged peers and children above poverty-level guidelines. The results of the study indicated there were no significant differences in the school readiness skills attained by the Head Start and disadvantaged peers groups. Both groups evidenced significantly weaker school readiness skills than did their more advantaged counterparts.
Recommendations include more activities for developing readiness skills and suggestions for additional research.

Electronic Theses and Dissertations
Statement of the problem. The central problem of this study was twofold: (1) to determine whether the educational research preparation offered by selected colleges and universities bore out the findings of critics, and (2) to synthesize and synergize opinions and facts regarding educational research, as expressed by men active in the field, into a flexible proposal whereby individual student's programs in research preparation could be "custom-made" to suit their most obvious research needs. The Relationship Of Eye-Hand Dominance To Visual-Motor Performance, Terry Livingstone Mitchell
All Master's Theses
Thirty-six crossed eye-hand dominant and an equal number of lateral dominant fifth grade students were compared on mirrortracing and handwriting tasks. Results showed that being crossed dominant did not have a significant effect on either handwriting or mirror-tracing when the preferred hand was used. The commonly held theory that being crossed eye-hand dominant is a handicap to normal language development was not supported by this study.

A Study To Determine Reasons Why Lds Students Were Not Enrolled In Lds Seminary In The Southern Alberta Seminary District During 1970-71, Robert Owen Mcclung
Theses and Dissertations
Religious education in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as given by the seminaries is to help youth achieve a meaningful testimony that God lives, Jesus is the Christ, and Joseph Smith is a prophet of God. The purpose of this study was to determine why some youth were not taking advantage of this training by enrolling in seminary.
It was determined that the teachers were a negligible reason for lack of enrollment. Rather, the reasons stemmed more from a lack of awareness of the nature of the seminary program by some priesthood leaders, by the youth and …

An Assessment Of Three Programmed Reading Courses For Use By The Mentally Retarded, Ruth P. Palmer
All Graduate Plan B and other Reports, Spring 1920 to Spring 2023
Mentally retarded children have considerable difficulty acquiring comprehensive reading skills. Their problems in this area are directly related to their comparative difficulty in handling abstractions, developing generalizations, and in expanding concepts.(Goldstein, 1962). The ability to read is of vital importance to the educable mentally retarded child and is needed to help him move about in his environment safely and independently. In our culture the ability to read is a must for employment. Next to the acquisition of adequate language to satisfy social needs, reading should hold top priority in the list of tool subjects for the mentally retarded.

Team Teaching - Elementary And Secondary, Raymond L. Peterson Jr.
All Graduate Projects
With so many schools taking a serious look at teaming procedures, our educational system is becoming more open to new innovative programs, cooperative planning, and a variety of staff utilization possibilities. A first year teacher or teacher new to team teaching may find such a program too challenging unless a situation is provided to orient the prospective teacher into an open-concept, nongraded, or flexible building where team teaching is taking place.
This project was undertaken because beginning teachers usually do not receive sufficient indepth training for working in team teaching situations. It is the intent of the writer to:

An Application Of A Revised Morrissett's Curriculum Analysis System To A High School English Program, Eldon Richard Loewe
All Master's Theses
The problem presented in this thesis is threefold. Taken together, these items present the bulk of work for any person attempting curriculum evaluation at the local level:
1. Meaningful evaluative information must be obtained. Instead of glib and generalized assumptions about what ought to be, one should achieve specific information relevant to the researcher as well as his departmental colleagues.
2. The information must relate to other studies so that a larger curriculum analysis will result. If the soundest method of national evaluation is to create concrete building blocks locally, these individual studies must mesh to provide something larger and …
A Descriptive Study Of Certain Characteristics In Which The Language Of A Class Of Third Grade Negro Children Differs From Standard English, Columbus Nelson Sanders
A Descriptive Study Of Certain Characteristics In Which The Language Of A Class Of Third Grade Negro Children Differs From Standard English, Columbus Nelson Sanders
All Master's Theses
Children come to school speaking the language of their speech community. For some children, the language in their speech community is a variety of English that differs from standard English or what may be called "school English." These children may experience great difficulties in speaking standard English. This problem is one of social class dialect rather than regional language variation. The purpose of this study is to describe certain characteristics in which the language of a class of third grade Negro children differs from standard English.
