With the capitulation of Japan in August 1945, World Tier II came to an abrupt end but that date signified the beginning of a phenomenon quite unique in history: the transformation of an alien and authoritarian culture into a democratically oriented society by means of educational Ideas and methodology. The role of American educational philosophy in the democratization of Japanese society warrants more attention than it has thus far received. The purpose of this study has been to determine the effectiveness of the health instructional program in the secondary class B schools in the State of Washington. Through the survey technique, 119 schools were contacted and questioned in relation to: (1) the various methods of organizing health classes; (2) attitudes of the instructor toward teaching health; and (3) the college preparation of health instructors.

A Comparative Study Of The Effect Of Teacher Stimulation On The Amount Of Reading Done By A Fifth Grade Class, Chesley Charles Packer

The purpose of this study was (1) to determine if a classroom teacher could effect an increase in interest in independent reading shown by an intermediate level class through an intensified program of stimulation as measured against the reading interests evidenced by a comparable class not receiving the extra stimulation, and (2) to determine to what extent if any this stimulation of reading interests affected reading ability as measured by a standardized reading achievement test.

Although all prospective student nurses applying to the Nebraska Methodist Hospital School of Nursing are required to take the Johnson Temperament Analysis, the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory, and to check the Problem Check List Form for School of Nursing, no actual value of the scores had been established. It appeared as though deviations above and below the fiftieth percentile on the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory might be predictive of adjustment problems in nursing students. It is possible that interruptions cannot be completely eliminated, but from this study it is hoped that teachers and administrators will be able to evaluate their particular situations and minimize interruption problems. Other purposes of the study have been to determine the origin of interruptions and the relationship between disciplinary problems and classroom interruptions. Also included will be an evaluation of teaching duties that reduce teachers’ instructional time.
