A repeated measures design with a 2 x 3 factorial arrangement of between subject treatments (group and sex) and a single repeated factor (audience at three levels) was used. The dependent variables were examined using ANOVA. Results were tested for significance at the .05 level. The …

The Iss On Campus: The Intercollegiate Socialist Society, 1905-1921, John Wertheimer

Honors Papers

"Student activism" is a commonly used-and somewhat loaded-phrase. In the mind of the modern observer, the phrase inspires images of peace signs, love beads, sit-ins, and Kent State. Student activism, however, has not always been true to this imagery. The tradition of student groups devoted to political, ideological ends extends back to the early years of the twentieth century. The group that established this tradition also forms the subject of this study: the Intercollegiate Socialist Society (ISS).

The ISS was founded in 1905. It led no rallies or sit-ins; nor were any of its members martyred at the hands of …

New Approach To Curriculum Organization: The Administrative Implications Of Cassirer's Theory Of Symbolic Form, Robert Everett Morse

Electronic Theses and Dissertations 1980 - 1989

It is the purpose of this study to explore the administrative implications of an alternative to the rationale of the subject-centered organization used by many nonpublic secondary schools. The literature review shows that the planning and assessment of education goals involves assumptions which administrators are being challenged to reexamine. The study proposes and tests a new conceptual framework based on Cassirer's theory of symbolic form as a suitable base for the development of administrative plans and programs. The study itself is exploratory and descriptive. It is limited to nonpublic schools and directed to the secondary level. Following Katz, theses are …
