Background: Cardiovascular disease remains one of the leading causes of death worldwide. Intermittent fasting is a unique intervention that is beginning to be studied more extensively for weight loss, positive alterations in serum lipid profile, and improvement of insulin resistance which are all modifiable risk factors for the development of cardiovascular disease.

Aim: The aim of this research was to assess physicians’ perception of the utility of clinical guidelines in the management of people with Type 2 diabetes in Saudi Arabia and how their perception is affected by different physicians’ characteristics and whether high perception would result in adherence to guidelines. Methods: This study employed a cross-sectional study design and used a self-administered online survey through Qualtrics software. The survey was distributed through the Saudi Society for Diabetes (SSD) whose membership includes more than five-thousand active physicians from all regions of Saudi Arabia. Lifestyle choices such as diet and physical activity have been described as significant predictors of preventable disease, such as Type 2 diabetes mellitus. African American women disproportionately develop Type 2 diabetes and are at greater risk, compared to Caucasian/European Americans. Perioperative hyperglycemia is reported in 20-40% of patients undergoing general surgery and is an independent risk factor for negative surgical outcomes. Patients with diabetes presenting to a local community hospital are at risk for negative surgical outcomes due to the lack of strategies to prevent perioperative hyperglycemia. This project aimed to implement and evaluate the usefulness of succinct diabetes education for preoperative total joint surgical patients with diabetes. Introduction: Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that affects 6-12% of United States women of reproductive age. Women with PCOS are at an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes and fall into high-risk groups for screening guidelines put out by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Sarcopenia and diabetes are two conditions that reflect ongoing changes in global health trends: aging and obesity. Sarcopenia affects approximately 10-40% of the global population and type II diabetes affects around 415 million individuals (6.28% globally), with obesity contributing to a majority of the cases. Dietary choices play a key role in insulin sensitivity among diabetes patients. An 8-week pilot study was conducted to evaluate whether a mostly plant-based dietary program will lead to improvement in biochemical markers in adults with diabetes. The dietary program included educational presentations, weekly cooking demonstrations and small group discussions. A sample of thirty-two adults with diabetes (types 1 and 2) were recruited and seventeen (53%) completed the study. Matched-pair tests and Fishers exact tests were used to compare the changes in means and proportion of the participants’ responses. Background: The rates of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D) have increased over the past 20 years in all age groups.
