Adaptive Homeostasis: A Strategy For Preserving Stability And Generative Capacity Under Uncertainty, Volodymyr Kotegov Sep 2026

Adaptive Homeostasis: A Strategy For Preserving Stability And Generative Capacity Under Uncertainty, Volodymyr Kotegov

Defensive Publications Series

This document offers a practical framework of priorities and working tools for people confronting a shrinking planning horizon, the declining value of conventional educational and professional pathways, rising psychophysical exhaustion, and a loss of coherent direction.

The strategy addresses two related tasks. The first is to protect psychological and physical health, secure basic material stability, and maintain the capacity for clear thinking. The second is to sustain generative capacity—the ability to produce non-trivial observations, hypotheses, and life trajectories. Generativity is treated first and foremost as a present-day resource. It supports a sense of meaning, adaptability, and psychological resilience. Secondarily, it …

Optimizing Nanoparticle Quality And Function In Applied Research, Angela M. Fried

Dissertations, Theses, and Capstone Projects

Radiology tests are among the fastest-growing categories of diagnostic analysis, and the gold standard of radiology tests is MRI.  MRI can be more informative if a contrast agent is used, and the standard of care contrasting agents (CA) are gadolinium-based.  Gadolinium is a heavy metal, toxic, and contraindicated for renal-compromised patients and the critically ill.  We propose a nanogel (NG) vehicle for an alternative organic CA.  CNs like 4-hydroxy-2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidin-1-oxyl (TEMPOL) and its derivatives have a variety of medical and industrial uses.  These cyclic CNs are stable, synthetic radicals with distinctive EPR/ESR signals and are helpful for various experimental applications, from …

Moore, Valerie M. O'Hara, Cassie Totman, Brooke Sweeney, Sarah Hampl, Alaina P. Vidmar

Manuscripts, Articles, Book Chapters and Other Papers

BACKGROUND: Coverage of obesity pharmacotherapy for youth varies substantially across state Medicaid programs. This variability limits access to evidence-based treatment for pediatric obesity. The Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) benefit is a federally mandated Medicaid provision requiring coverage of medically necessary services for individuals under age 21, even when such services are not included in standard state Medicaid benefits. Despite its broad scope, EPSDT remains underutilized due to limited awareness and operational complexity.

METHODS: We developed a clinician-facing, practice-oriented framework to operationalize EPSDT for pediatric obesity treatment. This approach integrates (1) review of federal EPSDT policy and …

Proxy End-Of-Life Decision-Making: Ethical, Religious And Existential Dimensions, Deborah Kaufman Giordano Sep 2026

Proxy End-Of-Life Decision-Making: Ethical, Religious And Existential Dimensions, Deborah Kaufman Giordano

Say Something Theological: The Student Journal of Theological Studies

End-of-life decision-making conducted by medical proxies on behalf of incapacitated loved ones presents profound theological, ethical, and existential challenges. In the qualitative study “Influence of Culture and Spiritual Tradition on Support for Families of Children Dying in Intensive Care Units” (Journal of Pediatric Nursing), Ju et al found that the most painful moment for parents and proxies was not the death itself, but the agonizing decision to withdraw life-sustaining treatment. As a hospital chaplain, I have witnessed these moments where faith, culture, and medical ethics collide. This paper argues that proxy decision-making cannot be understood solely through the lens of …

Quantitative Analysis Of Blue 1 Dye In Commercial Sports Drinks By Uv -Vis Spectroscopy And Hplc-Dad, Mikayla Bush

Forensic Science Master's Projects

Food dyes are natural or synthetic substances added to foods, beverages, and cosmetics to enhance color and visual appeal. Although they provide no nutritional value, they are widely used to attract consumers, particularly children. Concerns have been raised about the potential health effects of synthetic dyes, including links to hyperactivity in children, tumor formation at high doses, and possible impacts on gut and brain function. In response, regulatory efforts are ongoing. In April 2025, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced an initiative to phase out petroleum-based food dyes, including …

Effects Of Magnesium Supplementation On Selected Strength And Speed Performance Tests In Elite Soccer Players, Dalshad Mohammed Abdulrahman

Modern Sport

Magnesium supports energy metabolism, neuromuscular regulation, and muscle contraction, yet direct evidence for its supplementation benefits on explosive strength and sprint performance in elite soccer players remains limited. This study examined the effect of eight weeks of magnesium supplementation, combined with regular training, on vertical jump height and 30-m sprint performance in elite soccer players. This exploratory, open-label, randomized controlled trial used a parallel pretest–post-test design. Twenty-four first-team players from Duhok Sports Club were randomly allocated (1:1) to receive either 350 mg/day elemental magnesium (as magnesium citrate) for 8 weeks or regular training alone. Primary outcomes were vertical jump height …
