Pet Humanisation Impact On Insurance Purchase Intentions: A Novel Predictive Model Integrating Health Beliefs And Planned Behaviour, Krittee Dejyong, Puripat Charnkit, Suree Khemthong

The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine

This study investigates pet health insurance purchase intentions in Southern Thailand by integrating the Health Belief Model (HBM) and Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). Analysing 421 owners, the research identifies a profound sociocultural shift toward “pet humanisation” (79.1%), where ownership duration exceeding six years (P = 0.0053) is the primary demographic driver. Comparative analysis shows that the “pet humanisation” group exhibits significantly higher purchase intentions (P = 0.0374) and benefit recognition (P = 0.0012) than traditional owners. The integrated HBM-TPB model significantly outperforms. Multiple linear regression confirms the integrated framework’s superior predictive efficacy for purchase intention ( …

Exploring Graduate Students’ Perspectives Of Clinical Supervision In Speech-Language Pathology: A Qualitative Study Of Facilitators And Barriers, Andrew J. Clare, Joyce Maring

Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders

This qualitative study explored second-year graduate students’ perceptions of clinical supervision practices in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), focusing on how specific aspects of the supervisory approach were experienced by students as either barriers or facilitators to their learning during clinical practicum experiences. Twenty graduate students from a single SLP program, each with experience in at least seven clinical practica, participated in semi-structured interviews. An inductive thematic analysis approach was used to examine the patterns in the students’ experiences. Two mirrored sets of themes emerged, reflecting the dual importance of relational and pedagogical aspects of supervision. Facilitators included supportive relationships and effective …

Cmsi Note 25: Precluding The Powerful Enemy: A New Pla Concept For A Taiwan Conflict, Ryan D. Martinson Oct 2026

Cmsi Note 25: Precluding The Powerful Enemy: A New Pla Concept For A Taiwan Conflict, Ryan D. Martinson

CMSI Notes

Key Takeaways:

  • In recent years, the PLA has employed a new concept—“preclusion” (shezu)—that captures the two related missions of deterring and denying U.S. military intervention in a Taiwan conflict.
  • While the precise origin of the term is unknown, as early as 2019 it appeared in an internal PLA article written by a PLA Navy admiral with direct responsibility for commanding forces in a Taiwan campaign. This early use of the concept suggested that “deterrence” (慑) and “denial” (阻) were two steps in a three-step graduated PLA response to U.S. military intervention.
  • Since the intensification of PLA operations around Taiwan that …

Transforming Preservice Teachers’ Messaging Through Math Narratives In Mixed-Reality Simulations, Liza Bondurant, Darolyn Flaggs, Belinda Edwards Oct 2026

Transforming Preservice Teachers’ Messaging Through Math Narratives In Mixed-Reality Simulations, Liza Bondurant, Darolyn Flaggs, Belinda Edwards

Publications

Beliefs about mathematics shape students' identities, engagement, and opportunities to learn. Unproductive math narratives (MNs) can limit students' participation and persistence. This poster reports on a multi-institutional project examining how structured preparation and mixed-reality simulation (MRS) can support preservice secondary mathematics teachers (PSTs) in communicating productive MNs. RQ: How does engaging in preparation and MRSs influence PSTs' self-efficacy and messaging related to the MNs of: (1) encouraging help seeking, (2) making mathematics relevant, and (3) affirming the value of mistakes?

Multimodal Microanalysis: Extending Professional Noticing Through Embodied Cognition, Diana L. Moss, Claudia Bertolone-Smith, Jonathan Troup, Liza Bondurant Oct 2026

Multimodal Microanalysis: Extending Professional Noticing Through Embodied Cognition, Diana L. Moss, Claudia Bertolone-Smith, Jonathan Troup, Liza Bondurant

Publications

Professional noticing frameworks have significantly shaped how mathematics educators attend to, interpret, and respond to student thinking. However, traditional approaches often privilege verbal and written forms of expression, potentially overlooking tacit and embodied dimensions of reasoning. In this methodological brief, we introduce multimodal microanalysis, an approach that integrates professional noticing, embodied cognition, and microanalytic methods to systematically examine gesture, gaze, posture, and material interaction alongside speech. Using a cognitive interview with a second-grade student reasoning about even and odd numbers, we illustrate how sequencing attention to embodied and verbal modes reveals dimensions of mathematical thinking that are often missed. This …

Using Structural Equation Modeling To Examine Relationships Between Mathematics Capital And Other Variables, Frances E. Anderson, Karina Uhing, Jonathan B. Santo, Ferial Pearson, Liza Bondurant, Elizabeth Wrightsman

Publications

We investigate mathematics capital and its relationship with mathematics teaching and learning experiences, mathematics mindset, mathematics self-efficacy, cultural capital, and subjective social status. Survey data were collected from 927 undergraduate students in Fall 2024. Mathematics capital was modeled as a latent factor in our model with acceptable fit indices via structural equation modeling. The results of our model show that mathematics teaching and learning experiences and mathematics self-efficacy account for most of the variability in mathematics self-efficacy and mathematics teaching and learning experiences. Moreover, cultural capital and mathematics mindset are positively related to mathematics teaching and learning experiences. Overall, mathematics …

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

This quantitative correlational study investigated the relationship between the transformational leadership practice of individualized consideration and levels of burnout among educators in urban primary school settings. Grounded in transformational leadership theory and the principles of self-determination theory, the study explored whether leaders who demonstrated individualized support and mentorship could effectively mitigate burnout symptoms among their teaching staff. This correlational study collected data from teachers in an urban primary school using validated instruments that measured perceived leadership behaviors and burnout levels. Data were collected through the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire and the Maslach Burnout Inventory–Educators Survey, which were distributed via email. Statistical …

Law Enforcement Perceptions Of An Integrated Co-Responder Model: A Qualitative Case Study At The Jefferson County Sheriff’S Office, Austin D. Schwent

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

Law enforcement personnel often serve as first responders to behavioral health crises, yet limited research has examined agency-based co-responder models staffed by embedded mental health professionals. This descriptive, non-evaluative, site-specific generic qualitative case study examined commissioned personnel’s descriptions of the benefits and challenges of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response and Mitigation Unit (CRMU) and perceived operational differences from external partnership models. The anonymous PowerDMS questionnaire served as the primary participant-derived source and produced 91 routing-item responses and 528 nonblank narrative response units; three organizational artifacts supplied procedural, historical, and structural evidence concerning the bounded case. The researcher manually …

Examining Emotion Regulation And The Link Between Childhood Adversity And Secondary Trauma In First Responders, Maci Lenora Harmon Oct 2026

Examining Emotion Regulation And The Link Between Childhood Adversity And Secondary Trauma In First Responders, Maci Lenora Harmon

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

First responders are routinely exposed to traumatic events in the course of their professional duties, placing them at increased risk for secondary traumatic stress (STS). However, psychological responses to occupational trauma exposure vary considerably across individuals. Developmental research suggests that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) may contribute to long-term alterations in emotional functioning and stress responsivity, potentially increasing vulnerability to later trauma-related symptoms. Emotion regulation (ER) has been identified as a transdiagnostic process associated with trauma-related stress. Furthermore, ER may function as a pathway linking early adversity to occupational stress outcomes. The purpose of this quantitative, cross-sectional correlational mediation study was …

The final analytic sample consisted of 169 elementary school teachers employed in Title I and non-Title I schools within a suburban public school district in the southeastern United States. Data were collected using the Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES), the NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX), and a demographic questionnaire …

Equipping Church Leaders As Mediators: Implementing And Evaluating Conflict Mediation Training In A Multicultural Church, Komie T. Bumpers Oct 2026

Equipping Church Leaders As Mediators: Implementing And Evaluating Conflict Mediation Training In A Multicultural Church, Komie T. Bumpers

Doctoral Dissertations and Projects

The social, political, ideological, and racial divides that lead to conflict and shape today's culture are the same issues that plague American evangelical churches. While faith traditions can bring people together, cultural issues can divide them. Despite the centrality of conflict in congregational life, many theological seminaries do not provide comprehensive conflict mediation training as a core component of pastoral and leadership formation, resulting in a deficit in preparedness. The purpose of this research was to develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive conflict mediation training program for multicultural church leaders that equips them to effectively navigate ongoing interpersonal, doctrinal, political, …
