The Metaphor Of Intoxication In Sufi Poetry: In The Example Of Rūmī And Nasīmī (Comparative Study), Rashad Hasanov, Jokha Alharthi
The Metaphor Of Intoxication In Sufi Poetry: In The Example Of Rūmī And Nasīmī (Comparative Study), Rashad Hasanov, Jokha Alharthi
Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
This article examines the metaphor of intoxication (sukr) in the poetry of Jalāl al-Dīn Rūmī (1207–1273) and ʿImād al-Dīn Nasīmī (1369–1417) within the framework of Sufi metaphysics and comparative literary analysis. It explores how the symbolic language of intoxication articulates complex ethical, cognitive, and ontological ideas, particularly in relation to the motif of the ʿAhd-i Alast (Primordial Covenant). Selected examples from Rūmī’s Mas̱navī and Nasīmī’s Turkish divan are analyzed in order to examine the interplay between mystical experience, divine manifestation, and poetic expression. Situating these metaphors within the broader context of Persian and Turkish-Azerbaijani Sufi traditions, the article highlights the …
Light And Sama As A Common Language Of Sacred Architecture: A Comparative Reading Inspired By Rumi's Mysticism, Shabnam Golkarian
Light And Sama As A Common Language Of Sacred Architecture: A Comparative Reading Inspired By Rumi's Mysticism, Shabnam Golkarian
Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
In the tradition of Islamic mysticism, light symbolizes the singular divine truth and circular motion expresses the human journey from multiplicity toward unity. In Rumi's thought, these two elements are not merely sensory phenomena but ontological structures of the spiritual journey, where light corresponds to presence and awareness, and sama represents the return to the center of truth. This article aims to explain the role of these two concepts in shaping the spatial expression of sacred architecture and examines how light and circular movement, rooted in Islamic mysticism and especially in Rumi's teachings, appear as a ``shared spiritual language'' in …
Ego, Spiritual Ascension, And The Path To Social Harmony: A Sufi Analysis Of Rūmî'S Thought, Khatira Yusifova
Ego, Spiritual Ascension, And The Path To Social Harmony: A Sufi Analysis Of Rūmî'S Thought, Khatira Yusifova
Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
This article examines the concept of spiritual tranquility in the philosophy of Jalāl al-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī, the discipline of the self (nafs), and the impact of these notions on the establishment of social peace from a Sufi perspective. The aim of the study is to analyze the metaphysical and ethical relationship between individual spiritual development and societal harmony, while also evaluating the applicability of these ideas within modern social, psychological, and ethical contexts. Rūmī's legacy encompasses not only spiritual perfection within the Sufi tradition but also universal approaches to humanity, society, and peace. In his system of thought, achieving inner …
Human Security Or State Security? Afghan Refugees And Policy Dilemmas In Pakistan, Saad Zakria, Azmat Ullah
Human Security Or State Security? Afghan Refugees And Policy Dilemmas In Pakistan, Saad Zakria, Azmat Ullah
Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
Between 2008 and 2022, Pakistan faced a complex policy dilemma in managing Afghan refugees, balancing humanitarian obligations with national security concerns. After hosting Afghan refugees for more than four decades, Pakistan's approach gradually shifted from humanitarian accommodation and regional solidarity to securitization, stricter documentation, border controls, and repatriation efforts. Analysis of secondary data shows that many refugees experienced legal uncertainty, limited access to education and healthcare, poor labor conditions, and pressure to return despite instability in Afghanistan. Simultaneously, Pakistan confronted genuine challenges, including terrorism risks, irregular migration, economic burdens, declining international assistance, and pressure on public services. The study argues …
Islamic Hijab As A Border Of Cloth: A Critical Spatial Theory Perspective, Latifah Abdulgani Abdulrahman Bin Nafisah
Islamic Hijab As A Border Of Cloth: A Critical Spatial Theory Perspective, Latifah Abdulgani Abdulrahman Bin Nafisah
Khazar Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences
This article presents a comprehensive analysis of the Islamic hijab, transcending traditional interpretations that often focus solely on political, cultural, religious, or gender dimensions. This study aims to provide a deeper understanding of the hijab through the application of critical spatial theory. It also fills this theoretical gap by providing a theoretical overview of the hijab with reference to Henri Lefebvre's concept of the spatial triad and Edward Soja's concept of Third Space, mainly. Using a conceptual and interdisciplinary strategy, the research combines the idea of sacred space in Islam with contemporary spatial theory to create a holistic understanding of …

Pet Humanisation Impact On Insurance Purchase Intentions: A Novel Predictive Model Integrating Health Beliefs And Planned Behaviour, Krittee Dejyong, Puripat Charnkit, Suree Khemthong
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
This study investigates pet health insurance purchase intentions in Southern Thailand by integrating the Health Belief Model (HBM) and Theory of Planned Behaviour (TPB). Analysing 421 owners, the research identifies a profound sociocultural shift toward “pet humanisation” (79.1%), where ownership duration exceeding six years (P = 0.0053) is the primary demographic driver. Comparative analysis shows that the “pet humanisation” group exhibits significantly higher purchase intentions (P = 0.0374) and benefit recognition (P = 0.0012) than traditional owners. The integrated HBM-TPB model significantly outperforms. Multiple linear regression confirms the integrated framework’s superior predictive efficacy for purchase intention ( …

Exploring Graduate Students’ Perspectives Of Clinical Supervision In Speech-Language Pathology: A Qualitative Study Of Facilitators And Barriers, Andrew J. Clare, Joyce Maring
Teaching and Learning in Communication Sciences & Disorders
This qualitative study explored second-year graduate students’ perceptions of clinical supervision practices in Speech-Language Pathology (SLP), focusing on how specific aspects of the supervisory approach were experienced by students as either barriers or facilitators to their learning during clinical practicum experiences. Twenty graduate students from a single SLP program, each with experience in at least seven clinical practica, participated in semi-structured interviews. An inductive thematic analysis approach was used to examine the patterns in the students’ experiences. Two mirrored sets of themes emerged, reflecting the dual importance of relational and pedagogical aspects of supervision. Facilitators included supportive relationships and effective …
A Quantitative Predictive Correlational Study Of The Transformational Leadership Practice Of Individualized Consideration And The Emotional Exhaustion Aspect Of Burnout Among Educators In Urban Primary Schools, Mark Vital
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This quantitative correlational study investigated the relationship between the transformational leadership practice of individualized consideration and levels of burnout among educators in urban primary school settings. Grounded in transformational leadership theory and the principles of self-determination theory, the study explored whether leaders who demonstrated individualized support and mentorship could effectively mitigate burnout symptoms among their teaching staff. This correlational study collected data from teachers in an urban primary school using validated instruments that measured perceived leadership behaviors and burnout levels. Data were collected through the Multifactor Leadership Questionnaire and the Maslach Burnout Inventory–Educators Survey, which were distributed via email. Statistical …

Law Enforcement Perceptions Of An Integrated Co-Responder Model: A Qualitative Case Study At The Jefferson County Sheriff’S Office, Austin D. Schwent
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
Law enforcement personnel often serve as first responders to behavioral health crises, yet limited research has examined agency-based co-responder models staffed by embedded mental health professionals. This descriptive, non-evaluative, site-specific generic qualitative case study examined commissioned personnel’s descriptions of the benefits and challenges of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Response and Mitigation Unit (CRMU) and perceived operational differences from external partnership models. The anonymous PowerDMS questionnaire served as the primary participant-derived source and produced 91 routing-item responses and 528 nonblank narrative response units; three organizational artifacts supplied procedural, historical, and structural evidence concerning the bounded case. The researcher manually …

Examining Emotion Regulation And The Link Between Childhood Adversity And Secondary Trauma In First Responders, Maci Lenora Harmon
Examining Emotion Regulation And The Link Between Childhood Adversity And Secondary Trauma In First Responders, Maci Lenora Harmon
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
First responders are routinely exposed to traumatic events in the course of their professional duties, placing them at increased risk for secondary traumatic stress (STS). However, psychological responses to occupational trauma exposure vary considerably across individuals. Developmental research suggests that adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) may contribute to long-term alterations in emotional functioning and stress responsivity, potentially increasing vulnerability to later trauma-related symptoms. Emotion regulation (ER) has been identified as a transdiagnostic process associated with trauma-related stress. Furthermore, ER may function as a pathway linking early adversity to occupational stress outcomes. The purpose of this quantitative, cross-sectional correlational mediation study was …

A Multivariate Analysis Of Teacher Self-Efficacy And Cognitive Load In Scripted Instructional Programs, Tameka A. Bonner
Doctoral Dissertations and Projects
This quantitative, non-experimental, multivariate comparative study examined whether statistically significant differences existed in teacher self-efficacy and teacher cognitive load between Title I and non–Title I elementary school teachers who implement scripted instructional programs. The study addressed a gap in the literature by simultaneously examining these constructs across differing school settings. The final analytic sample consisted of 169 elementary school teachers employed in Title I and non-Title I schools within a suburban public school district in the southeastern United States. Data were collected using the Teacher Sense of Efficacy Scale (TSES), the NASA Task Load Index (NASA-TLX), and a demographic questionnaire …
