This study analyzes how the news about the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, is represented on the Al Jazeera news channel, focusing on the construction of ideology and the representation of actors in the discourse. Khamenei was killed on 28 February 2026 in a US-Israeli airstrike, an event that triggered military escalation and a contest of narratives in the Middle East. This study fills a research gap, as no previous work has critically analyzed how the killing of an Iranian leader is represented in transnational Arab media. The study uses a descriptive qualitative method with Norman Fairclough’s …

Penggunaan Idiom Mandarin Dalam Kritik Tidak Langsung Di Media Sosial Weibo: Analisis Bentuk, Makna, Dan Fungsi Pragmatik, Vivianne Zara Kwang, Uti Aryanti
Multikultura
Weibo, a social media platform, has become a digital public sphere that facilitates discussions and the expression of criticism regarding various social issues in China. One linguistic strategy employed by users to convey criticism indirectly is the use of Mandarin idioms (chéngyǔ), fixed four-character expressions whose figurative meanings cannot be interpreted literally. The use of idioms allows speakers to express criticism implicitly, thereby reducing potential threats to the hearer's face. This study aims to identify the forms and meanings of Mandarin idioms used in indirect criticism on Weibo and to explain their pragmatic functions as off-record strategies within Brown and …

China's media regulatory and censorship system for imported television programs plays an important role in determining which foreign productions are granted permission for broadcast. In this context, the official broadcast of the South Korean television drama Jealousy in China in 1993, as the first South Korean drama officially aired in the country, provides a relevant case for examining the relationship between media regulation, censorship mechanisms, and cultural representation. This study aims to analyze the entry and broadcast of Jealousy in China, the media regulatory framework in place at the time, and the censorship criteria that enabled the drama to obtain …

This study explores the dynamics of existential freedom in Le Hérisson by analyzing its narrative structure and existential themes. Le Hérisson tells the story of two central characters, Paloma and Renée, who each search for meaning and self-identity amid the pressures of their social environment. This analysis uses Jean Paul Sartre’s existentialist theory, which posits that existence precedes essence and that individuals are responsible for their own freedom. This research uses a qualitative textual analysis approach to examine the film’s narrative structure. The aim of the study is to reveal how the dynamics of human freedom are portrayed through the …

Indonesian Journal of Public Health Nutrition (IJPHN)
Stunting remains a major public health problem in Indonesia, with prevalence rates still above national targets. The complementary feeding period (6–24 months) is a critical window for prevention, during which inadequate protein intake significantly contributes to impaired linear growth. Local animal protein sources offer an accessible and sustainable strategy to improve dietary quality. This study aims to review scientific evidence on the role of local animal protein sources in nutritionally balanced complementary feeding for the prevention of stunting in Indonesian infants aged 6–24 months. A literature review was conducted by systematically searching scientific databases for studies published between 2020 and …

Indonesian Journal of Public Health Nutrition (IJPHN)
Protein energy malnutrition (PEM) continues to be a critical problem in public health, especially in developing nations where sources of affordable nutrient-dense foods are unavailable. Plantain is one of the staple foods rich in carbohydrates but deficient in protein, while soybeans are protein-rich legumes. A blend of these local foods in composite flour will increase the nutritional value of plantain-based foods without compromising their sensory properties. The objective of this study was to formulate plantain-soy composite flour blends at various substitution rates and determine their composition and sensory characteristics. Unripe plantain and soybean were milled into flour and mixed in …

Toward Inclusive Child Wealth Building: An Assessment Of Trump Accounts, Lissa Johnson, Jin Huang, Margaret Clancy, Michael Sherraden
Center for Social Development Research
On September 30, 2026, the U.S. Department of Treasury released regulations that adopted a new administrative structure for Trump Accounts and changed how they can be opened. As families, states, employers, and philanthropies begin working with these accounts, two larger questions are key: How well does the new structure deliver what child accounts are meant to provide? And what should a fully inclusive child-account policy mean for every child and family? This brief presents an assessment and guide to address these questions. It is written for those who design, fund, and deliver child account policies, and it assesses those policies …

Millets As A Preventive Dietary Intervention For India’S Nutrition Transition: A Narrative Review Of Glycaemic And Micronutrient Evidence, Kundan Kaushal, Manisha Upadhyay, Shambhu Nath Dubey, Indrajeet Kumar Jha
Indonesian Journal of Public Health Nutrition (IJPHN)
India’s nutrition profile reflects a nutrition transition rather than a single narrative: a rapidly escalating burden of diet-related non-communicable disease, including an estimated 101 million people with diabetes, coexists with a severe and worsening burden of micronutrient deficiency, with anaemia affecting 57% of women and 67.1% of children. This narrative review examines millets, small-seeded cereals historically marginalised in Indian diets in favour of rice and wheat, as a preventive dietary intervention with plausible relevance to both ends of this transition. Evidence was drawn from peer-reviewed systematic reviews and meta-analyses, national survey data and documented delivery interventions, identified through searches of …

Dicta’S Danger: The Lingering Nuisance Of Abel V. United States, Meg Penrose
University of Miami Law Review
This Article urges judges and lawyers to avoid relying on dicta when making legal claims. Dicta can cause confusion and generate incorrect legal conclusions. The most recent instance of dicta’s danger involves legal guidance on immigration arrests provided by the Department of Homeland Security’s General Counsel. Counsel erroneously relies on dicta from a 1960 Supreme Court case, Abel v. United States, in advising that law enforcement can legally enter a home armed solely with an administrative immigration arrest warrant. They cannot. The cited dicta precede binding Supreme Court precedent holding that the Fourth Amendment draws a firm line at …

“It Is The ,,I,, I Write About”: José Garcia Villa’S Conceptualization Of The Poet In “A ,,Composition,,”, Nathan Timothy Y. Chan
Akda: The Asian Journal of Literature, Culture, Performance
The poems of José Garcia Villa are eccentric, and it would seem that it is on account of this eccentricity that most scholarship on Villa has thus sharply turned, instead, to Villa’s critical essays on Philippine literature in English so as to excavate from that rich reservoir of thought some small Villean insight capable of furthering a politics-centered reading of Villa’s works. Thus, critics of Villa’s works unintentionally neglect a serious discussion of the themes of Villa’s poetry. Because of this facet of Villean scholarship, this article responds by, first, demonstrating that Villa’s critical essays can be read as philosophical …
“To A Cupped Hand’S Size”: Reading Poetics Of Scale In Edith Tiempo’S Poetry, Thomas Leonard D. Shaw
“To A Cupped Hand’S Size”: Reading Poetics Of Scale In Edith Tiempo’S Poetry, Thomas Leonard D. Shaw
Akda: The Asian Journal of Literature, Culture, Performance
Edith Cutaran Lopez-Tiempo’s body of work, alongside her stature as Philippine National Artist for Literature, has generated substantial scholarship on the fertile imaginaries and intersections of formalist poetics, the institutionalization of the writing workshop, and Philippine poetry in English. Building on these contributions, I turn instead to Tiempo’s negotiation of self-fashioning, memory work, and imaginative practice as a way of articulating questions of scale in her oeuvre. By reading a selection of poems from several of her poetry collections, I argue that reading Tiempo’s sustained engagement with strategies of disclosure and scale, as well as her preoccupation with the intimacy …

Akda: The Asian Journal of Literature, Culture, Performance
The Irresolution Of Genre In Edith Tiempo’S The Builder, Kaisa R. Aquino
The Irresolution Of Genre In Edith Tiempo’S The Builder, Kaisa R. Aquino
Akda: The Asian Journal of Literature, Culture, Performance
The tradition and history of detective fiction in the Philippines remain a slim and largely untheorized terrain, and Edith Tiempo’s contribution to the genre with her fifth and last novel, The Builder (2003), has yet to receive critical attention. This paper takes the novel as its primary text and argues that the quasi-detective and the criminal, both indigenous subjects, produce a critical tension that is illegible to the generic framework of Western detective fiction. While the novel succeeds in deploying genre conventions, such as the analysis of signs through textual and material evidence, the contract of resolution through the assertion …

Comparing Picaresque Elements In Aravind Adiga’S The White Tiger And F. Sionil Jose’S Mass, Charles Dominic P. Sanchez
Akda: The Asian Journal of Literature, Culture, Performance
The colonial era of the past five hundred years, as instigated by European powers, eventually enabled the appropriation of canonically Western literary forms by writers from formerly colonized regions of the world. A concrete example of this is the picaresque novel, which originated in sixteenth-century Spain as a satirical mode aimed at the prevailing social norms and glaring inequalities of a time when that country was at the forefront of reaping wealth from newly established colonies in the Americas. In recent decades, postcolonial writers have utilized the pícaro, or elements thereof, as a means of shedding light on the many …
