The Influence Of Nahwu Mastery Through Nazm Al-'Imrithi On The Ability To Understand Fathul Qarib Among Students Of Darussalam Islamic Boarding School Kartasura, Nirmala Hamaz

This study examined the effect of Nahwu mastery based on Nazm Al-‘Imrithi on the ability to comprehend Fathul Qarib among students of Darussalam Islamic Boarding School, Kartasura. A quantitative survey design was employed involving 25 Imrithi-class students selected through saturated sampling. Data were collected using achievement tests and analyzed using Pearson Product-Moment correlation. The findings showed that students’ Nahwu mastery was categorized as very good (M = 80.24), while their ability to comprehend Fathul Qarib was fairly good (M = 78.80). The correlation coefficient was 0.4768, indicating a positive and moderately strong relationship. Nahwu mastery contributed 22.73% to students’ comprehension …

“It Feels Like Your Life Hinges On Me”: Lived Experience Of Being Next Of Kin To Someone Who Self-Harms, Kenneth Haugjord, John-Kåre Vederhus, Tore Dag Bøe, Kristine Dahl

Through previous research, attention has been drawn to the burden experienced by next of kin to someone struggling with self-harm, yet less attention has been given to how they experience and make sense of the relational and existential complexity of this role in their everyday lives. We asked how next of kin experienced and made sense of caring for a loved one who self-harmed. We conducted in-depth interviews with fourteen next of kin, including parents, partners, and siblings, and analyzed the data through reflexive thematic analysis within an interpretive qualitative framework. Silence And Whispering In The L2 Pragmatics Classroom: Duoethnographic Insights From A Vietnamese Context, Duong Minh Tuan, Le Thi Diem Lan

This article examined how silence and whispering shape participation in an L2 pragmatics course for English majors at a Vietnamese university. Using a duoethnographic approach, we, as lecturer–researchers and the sole participants in this study, engaged in written dialogic exchanges over a 12-week semester, drawing on salient classroom incidents and institutional texts as prompts. Our dialogues revisited scenes in which students were quiet or whispered in Vietnamese, and we interrogated our shifting interpretations of those moments in light of scholarship on silence, L2 pragmatics, and language policy. Untold Mourning: The Epistemology Of Naming And Grieving The Loss Of Identities, Bao Diep, Verna Wong
Journal of Southeast Asian American Education and Advancement
This paper explores the epistemology of mourning through the lens of two Asian American scholars pursuing doctoral degrees at a Midwestern university. We examine how racialization in Midwestern educational institutions reflects a broader historical and cultural distancing from Vietnamese immigrants and refugees, despite a shared geopolitical past. Employing critical collaborative autoethnography as both method and remedy, we engage in a dialogic process of uncovering and understanding our collective memories and lived experiences. This approach empowers us to confront hegemonic narratives and reclaim our identities as immigrant scholars navigating predominantly white academic spaces.

Saudi literature represents a significant component of the Kingdom’s cultural heritage. However, its global visibility remains limited due to fragmented translation practices and inadequate systematic documentation. This study maps the contribution of English translations of Saudi literary works in terms of their visibility, sustainability, and cultural impact within the international literary landscape. The mixed-methods approach adopted in this study integrates bibliometric analysis of 300 English translations of Saudi works with qualitative data sourced from translators, publishers, academics, and international readers represented through publicly available reader reviews and online responses. This study explores the experiences of one doctoral researcher and two doctoral peers navigating mentor-mentee relationships through a literary lens, employing autoethnographic methods to capture the nuanced dynamics of guidance, expectation, and emotional labor. Data were drawn from narratives found in reflective journals, personal memos, email exchanges, text messages and conversations with four faculty mentors and two doctoral peers accumulated through the doctoral journey. The narratives were analyzed using thematic analysis. Inclusive education has been in place for approximately three decades in Hong Kong, and previous research has predominantly focused on examining its effectiveness from the perspectives of teachers, policy makers, and healthcare professionals. However, there has been limited investigation into the personal experiences of students with special educational needs (SEN) who are integrated into mainstream schools. This study employing narrative inquiry explores the identity formation of eight SEN students throughout their 20-year learning journey within Hong Kong’s inclusive education system. In this study, we analyze how beginning teachers in Chile construct meanings around resilience during their first year of professional induction, within a context of intensified teachers’ work and limited institutional support. Drawing on a socioecological perspective and Critical Discursive Psychology, we developed a qualitative design focused on interpretative repertoires. Ten beginning teachers from various subject areas, educational levels, and regions participated, with each being interviewed at two time points, six months apart. The surge in U.S. business formation has been accelerated by generative artificial intelligence (AI) and is often interpreted as evidence of renewed economic vitality. This perspective argues that the same trend also creates a consequential challenge for human resource development (HRD). This is because new ventures may achieve commercial reach and technical capability before developing the human systems needed to support learning, judgment, coordination, and workforce development. This temporal imbalance is theorized as venture heterochrony. Its accumulated human and organizational consequences are conceptualized as organizational formation debt. Novel derivatives of 1,2,3-triazoles bearing a saccharin part (4a-g) were synthesized and produced as promising antioxidant compounds. FTIR, 1H NMR, and 13C NMR spectroscopy were used to confirm the structures of the produced compounds. The in vitro synthesized compounds' antioxidant activity was evaluated using the DPPH radical scavenging test. The evaluation revealed that compound 4e exhibited the highest scavenging activity with an IC50 value of 34.65 ± 0.53 μg/mL, outperforming the reference standard ascorbic acid (IC50 = 46.38 ± 0.27 μg/mL), while compound 4f demonstrated significant free radical scavenging action with an …

I wrote this paper to support qualitative researchers in accessibly engaging with poststructural discourse analysis. In it, I detail how I flexibly adapted this methodology to meet my study’s aims. I begin by outlining poststructural understandings of discourse and explaining why a researcher may choose a poststructural discourse analysis for a study’s theoretical and methodological framework. While published poststructural discourse analyses commonly draw upon Foucauldian concepts to guide analysis, in this paper I share a more expansive approach. Assessing parameters in autoregressive (AR) models is a fundamental aspect of time-series analysis and is widely used in fields such as finance, climate science, and engineering. Ordinary least squares and maximum likelihood estimation are commonly used for this purpose, but their performance can be affected when the estimation process is subject to complex constraints. In this study, two nonlinear programming techniques—the Gradient Projection (GP) method and Convex Quadratic Programming (CQP) based on the complementary pivot algorithm—were examined for estimating the parameters of an AR(2) model. Gender studies is an interdisciplinary field spanning higher education institutions globally. Yet the experiences of scholars within specific regional contexts remain understudied. This study examines the lived personal and pedagogical experiences of gender studies and gender communication scholars in the Midwest. Using a qualitative approach, semi-structured interviews were conducted to explore participants’ experiences, perceived pressures, and responses to the current political and academic climate. Interview questions focused on the challenges scholars face as well as the communicative practices they adopt in response to shifting attitudes toward gender studies. Debating Without Format: A Portrait, A Proposal, A Possibility, Stephen M. Llano

This essay distinguishes "Debate" — competitive, tournament-driven, and governed by fixed procedural rules — from "debate," rhetoric's older practice of persuading an audience. Drawing on the dual etymology of "format" (to shape, and to arrange data for machine processing) and on Goodhart's law, the essay argues that competitive format has displaced audience assent as debate's real aim, training students to satisfy a judge's rules rather than move real listeners. As an alternative, it proposes a co-curricular model rooted in the university rather than the tournament circuit, treating rules as adaptable paradigms rather than algorithms to execute. Public employees occupy a uniquely precarious position in American constitutional law. They retain First Amendment rights as citizens while simultaneously operating within institutional hierarchies that may legitimately regulate their expression. Title VII and the Fourteenth Amendment’s Equal Protection Clause protect them from discrimination, yet the doctrinal frameworks designed to safeguard them often pull in opposite directions. This Article examines the resulting doctrinal confusion, arguing that the intersection of the Pickering/Garcetti framework governing public employee speech with Title VII’s hostile work environment doctrine and the Equal Protection Clause’s intent requirement has generated genuine uncertainty about the scope of constitutional protection—uncertainty that …

Securities regulation is not supposed to look like corporate law, yet in the market for interval and tender-offer funds, it increasingly does. The SEC’s modern exemptive practice for these registered investment vehicles—funds that offer periodic liquidity while investing in less-liquid strategies—is doing more than granting individualized relief. In effect, it is transforming the Investment Company Act’s closed-end structural constraints from mandatory architecture into conditional defaults that permit product modularity (particularly in terms of multiple share classes and distribution and servicing fees) when paired with governance and disclosure safeguards. A system is proposed herein for bidirectional drift-aware amendment of a signed, versioned task boundary governing an artificial intelligence (AI) agent’s interactions with protected tools. A mediation plane checks an agent-proposed request against the active boundary before tool execution and checks actual returned records and fields against the same boundary before delivery to the agent. When either check detects a deviation, the request or returned data is held and a dimension-specific delta is generated. A verified human may deny, approve, or approve with conditions. Digital payment systems may face challenges in environments with limited or no network connectivity, for example, with computing devices (e.g., a smartphone, feature phone, wearable device) that may have limited hardware capabilities. A system is disclosed for offline transactions that can use a device's secure element, such as a subscriber identity module. During a transaction, an applet on the secure element can debit a designated offline balance and generate a cryptographically signed token containing transaction details. This signed token can then be transmitted between devices using, for example, acoustic signals. A receiving device can locally verify the token's authenticity without …

This study presents the design and synthesis of multifunctional magnetic cellulose nanocrystal (CNC) composites engineered for targeted adsorption and broad-spectrum antimicrobial applications. The nanocomposites were fabricated by anchoring mixed-valence Fe3O4 magnetic nanoparticles on eco-friendly CNC frameworks, followed by surface functionalization with benzalkonium chloride (BC), a potent quaternary ammonium biocide. Both sulfated (S) and TEMPO-oxidized CNC (T) variants were investigated across Fe3O4:CNC mass ratios of 1:2 and 1:4.
