Introduction: Necrotizing pneumonia, an uncommon but serious condition in children, lacks comprehensive multicenter pediatric data. The objective was to assess treatment strategies and outcomes of necrotizing pneumonia in children. Methods: The Pediatric Health Information System was queried for patients, ages 30 days to 19 years, with lung necrosis. Children who received alteplase were compared with those who did not. The chi-square test, Mann-Whitney-U test, multivariable regression analysis, and propensity score matching were performed. Results: Out of a total of 2,177 children with necrotizing pneumonia, 59% had pleural effusion. A complex chronic condition (CCC) was present in 51% of patients. Resources …

A system and method determine whether a candidate audio catalog contributed to the training of a generative audio model. An elemental encoder decomposes generated audio and catalog items into elemental embeddings corresponding to aesthetic elements including melodic contour, harmonic progression, rhythmic pattern, and timbral palette. A segmentation engine defines regions of the generated output for scoped analysis. Within each element independently, instance-level scores compare output regions against catalog items while distribution-level alignment compares the catalog's element distributions against distributions over model-generated outputs relative to a reference set. This study explores the co-evolution of energy transition and economic diversification in Saudi Arabia during 2005–2025. It addresses the limited historical integration of energy-transition and diversification indicators in the Saudi context. Using a descriptive and analytical design based on secondary data, official statistics, international reports and national policy documents, the research identifies trends in renewable-energy capacity, electricity-mix reform, emissions pledges, non-oil sector performance, oil-sector developments and fiscal sustainability. The findings suggest that Saudi Arabia's energy transition has moved beyond mere policy rhetoric, particularly through plans to move away from liquid fuels in power generation and further develop renewables. Students in introductory differential equations courses often learn to associate specific equation types with familiar physical systems. While this approach supports procedural fluency, it can inhibit transfer learning: students recognize familiar forms rather than construct models from first principles. This paper presents a modeling-first instructional approach designed to help students recognize the shared structure of second-order differential equations across diverse contexts. Students derive governing equations from fundamental physical laws for multiple systems, including an Inductor, Resistor, and Capacitor (LRC) electrical circuit, a simple pendulum, and viscous pipe flow. Respiratory processes are increasingly implicated in shaping neural activity and behavior. Recent studies have reported a coupling between respiratory phase and the cortical readiness potential (RP), suggesting that breathing may modulate the neural processes preceding voluntary action. Here, using electroencephalography recordings in humans, we re-examine this claim using the original dataset and a new independent dataset, as well as in simulated data with no coupling. We show that the reported association arises from a confound: both RP amplitude and respiratory phase are coupled to movement onset. The original analysis does not control for this dependency, leading to a spurious effect …

Despite women comprising a majority of the U.S. restaurant workforce, they remain significantly underrepresented in culinary leadership and elite recognition. Using an exploratory, descriptive design that draws on secondary data from the ACS, NRA, U.S. Census Bureau, and the James Beard Foundation, this study maps gender disparities across the culinary career pipeline. Women represent approximately 54% of the restaurant workforce but only 24.8% of chefs and head cooks, with a substantial gender wage gap persisting across the occupation (NRA, 2026; U.S. Census Bureau, 2024). American Sign Language (ASL) is a challenging yet rapidly growing language taught at both secondary and higher education levels. Despite its increasing popularity, there is limited literature on utilizing ASL labs as learning centers. This quantitative study examines the implementation of a new ASL lab at a large four-year university in California. It investigates the factors influencing participation, the motivations behind students' involvement, and their perceptions of the lab's effectiveness. Results indicate significant associations between course modality, instructor influence, and lab participation. The study suggests that ASL labs function as cultural and educational spaces that promote visibility of Deaf culture …

Background: State-level investigations of health and safety policy implementation in secondary school athletics highlight ongoing challenges in ensuring student-athlete safety that aligns with evidence-based best practices. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine current state-level implementation of health and safety policies in Mississippi secondary schools from the perspective of athletics/activities directors, athletic trainers, and other school administrators. Methods: In May 2025, a 26-item web-based questionnaire was distributed to 226 athletic directors and 114 athletic trainers across Mississippi secondary schools.
