Institutions And Economic Development, Ezra Rosser Jan 2025

Institutions And Economic Development, Ezra Rosser

Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals

INTRODUCTION: Though forty years have passed since the American Indian Law Review published Economic Development in Indian Country: What Are the Questions? by Professor Frank Pommersheim, many of the same challenges and questions about economic development remain. This brief Essay looks back at Pommersheim’s work, surveys the state of scholarship on economic development today, and offers a few ideas about the future of such work. To this day, economic development remains a backwater among law professors compared to sexier topics like criminal jurisdiction, civil authority over nonIndians, and whatever is the most recent opinion from the U.S. Supreme Court. But …

But For Borders: The Protection Gap For Internally Displaced Persons, Anita Sinha Jan 2025

But For Borders: The Protection Gap For Internally Displaced Persons, Anita Sinha

Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals

Internal displacement, the phenomenon of people who are dislocated from their homes but remain within the border of their countries of origin, was once a forced migratory occurrence interchangeable with cross-border migration. This changed after the Second World War with the promulgation of the 1951 Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, which was premised on an insistence on drawing a legal line in the sand based on which side of a border displacement transpires upon. Internally displaced persons (IDPs)-both in recent history and in the projected future-far outnumber people displaced across borders. Both rhetorical maneuverings and traditional international legal …

Optimizing Mechanical Performance Of Agc-Reinforced Polymer Nanocomposites: A Quantitative Analysis Of Stiffness–Ductility Trade-Offs, Taseer Muhammad, Ali Akgül Jan 2025

Optimizing Mechanical Performance Of Agc-Reinforced Polymer Nanocomposites: A Quantitative Analysis Of Stiffness–Ductility Trade-Offs, Taseer Muhammad, Ali Akgül

Babylonian Journal of Mechanical Engineering

This study presents a comprehensive analysis of the mechanical behavior of polymer nanocomposites reinforced with varying loadings of silver-coated carbon (AgC) nanoparticles. Using a systematic experimental approach, five compositions ranging from 0% to 20% AgC loading were evaluated through tensile testing, with data processed and analyzed using Python-based workflows. The results reveal that increasing AgC content leads to significant improvements in stiffness and strength, as evidenced by a steady rise in Young Modulus and ultimate tensile strength. However, this reinforcement is accompanied by a progressive reduction in ductility, highlighting a pronounced stiffness–ductility trade-off. Toughness exhibited a nonlinear response, peaking at …
