Multiplex immunofluorescence and immunohistochemistry (mIF/IHC) are increasingly employed antibody-based technologies that use tissue sparingly and facilitate the detection of co-localized or neighboring biomarkers. Specifically, these platforms enable spatial analyses of the tumor microenvironment as well as extended applications, for example, describing normal tissue anatomy, autoimmunity, infectious diseases, etc. mIF/IHC has greatly enhanced biomarker discovery efforts, and a growing number of studies suggest superiority to traditional IHC. Standardization of staining approaches, reporting of image analysis strategies and resultant data is critical for facilitating cross-study comparisons, validation, deployment, and generalization of findings. To address this challenge, The Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer …

School of Biological and Marine Sciences

Equilibrium shoreline change models with calibrated, time-invariant free parameters have demonstrated good skill in hindcasting shoreline evolution at sites dominated by cross-shore sediment transport. However, their performance can be biased by the specific conditions present during the calibration period. In this study, a dual parameter-state ensemble Kalman filter (EnKF) was applied to track non-stationarity in model free parameters at three sites along the west coast of Europe. Introducing time-varying parameters did not substantially improve performance relative to an already well-calibrated stationary model. Model skill improvement occurred mainly during the EnKF correction step, highlighting the potential of real-time data assimilation for …

A Protein Complex In The Extreme Distal Tip Of Vertebrate Motile Cilia Controls Their Organization, Length, And Function, Juyeon Hong, Jiehong Pan, Amjad Horani, Steven L Brody, Et Al. Dec 2025

A Protein Complex In The Extreme Distal Tip Of Vertebrate Motile Cilia Controls Their Organization, Length, And Function, Juyeon Hong, Jiehong Pan, Amjad Horani, Steven L Brody, Et Al.

2020-Current year OA Pubs

The beating of cilia on multi-ciliated cells (MCCs) is essential for normal development and homeostasis in animals. But while the structure and function of basal bodies and axonemes have received significant attention recently, the distal tips of MCC cilia remain relatively poorly defined. Here, we characterize the molecular organization of the distal tip of vertebrate MCC cilia, characterizing two distinct domains occupied by distinct protein constituents. Using frog, mouse, and human MCCs, we find that two largely uncharacterized proteins, Ccdc78 and Ccdc33, occupy a previously undefined region at the extreme distal tip, and these are required for the normal organization …

The Law Of Hard Times: What Today’S Lawyers And Policymakers Can Learn From The Farm Crisis Of The 1980s, Sarah Vogel, Mary Eichenberger Dec 2025

The Law Of Hard Times: What Today’S Lawyers And Policymakers Can Learn From The Farm Crisis Of The 1980s, Sarah Vogel, Mary Eichenberger

Journal of Food Law & Policy

It is undeniable, the United States is experiencing another farm depression similar to the Great Depression of the 1930s and the Farm Crisis of the 1980s. While every era is different, knowledge of the case law developed during the farm struggles of the 1930s and 1980s, and the statutory and regulatory reforms that arose from advocacy during those difficult times will be helpful to today’s agricultural lawyers and policymakers. As farmers and ranchers again find themselves, due to circumstances beyond their control, in financial distress, they will contact attorneys, state secretaries of agriculture, state attorneys general, agriculture organizations, and state …

Reflection And Gratitude: The Journal Of Food Law & Policy From A Twenty-Year Perspective, Margie Alsbrook

Journal of Food Law & Policy

Twenty years after the Journal of Food Law & Policy published its first issue, I find myself looking back with deep gratitude for the people who helped create it, for the students who sustained it, and for the community that continues to make it thrive. What began as an untested idea has grown into a respected publication and a cornerstone of a still-growing field. This essay is both a reflection on that journey and a heartfelt thank-you to everyone who made it possible.

Chaos Engineering In Multi-Gigahertz Solid-State Lasers: A Novel Approach To Optoelectronic Control, Mikhail V. Gorbunkov, Yulia Ya. Maslova, Yulia A. Sinichkina Dec 2025

Chaos Engineering In Multi-Gigahertz Solid-State Lasers: A Novel Approach To Optoelectronic Control, Mikhail V. Gorbunkov, Yulia Ya. Maslova, Yulia A. Sinichkina

Karbala International Journal of Modern Science

This paper presents a comprehensive study of a multi-gigahertz chaotic generator of light pulses based on solid-state laser sources, including fiber lasers, governed by carefully designed positive and negative feedback loops. It harnesses the inherent nonlinear dynamics within a solid-state laser controlled by a combination of two inertial feedback loops, enabling the realization of complex chaotic behavior, including the logistic map scenario, under moderate amplification conditions. The laser system dynamics are rigorously investigated through theoretical modeling, employing a nonlinear map approach, and high-resolution picosecond simulations. The results of our numerical simulations highlight the efficacy of fast electro-optical feedback system with …

We Built This: Redesigning Higher Education From The Ground Up While They Try To Burn It Down, Shawntay King, Juanita E. Marquez, Keisha Rembert, Jolene Taylor, Thera Tilmon

SPACE: Student Perspectives About Civic Engagement

Our text, We Built This: Redesigning Higher Education from the Ground Up While They Try to Burn It Down, examines how recent federal policy shifts, particularly the 2025 Dear Colleague letter and the Project 2025 educational platform, function as deliberate acts of deconstruction. These measures threaten to dismantle equity infrastructures in higher education while intensifying the erasure of Black women’s labor, leadership and legacy in the academy. Through Critical Policy Analysis and Black feminist thought, we argue that these policies operate simultaneously as blueprint and wrecking ball, systematically unraveling decades of progress and constraining the very communities that have sustained …

The Other Side Of Rousseau’S Political Theology: The Influence Of Plutarch And Calvin On The Profession Of Faith Of The Savoyard Vicar, Thomas Daniel Moore Dec 2025

The Other Side Of Rousseau’S Political Theology: The Influence Of Plutarch And Calvin On The Profession Of Faith Of The Savoyard Vicar, Thomas Daniel Moore

Yale Divinity School Theses

This thesis examines Jean-Jacques Rousseau’s Profession of Faith of the Savoyard Vicar, paying particular attention philosophic influences of the Vicar, especially as pertains to metaphysics. It fills a void in the scholarship, as there is not much work in general–and especially in recent years–on the relationship between Plutarch, Calvin, and Rousseau. Indeed, although Rousseau’s love for Plutarch is often acknowledged, it is seldom explored; and, when it is explored, it is typically only with an eye to the political realm, and never the metaphysical dimension. Calvin, when mentioned in association with Rousseau at all, is typically interpreted as a minor …

From Dictionary To Classroom: Philippine English In The Oxford English Dictionary And Language Education In The Philippines, Danica Salazar

Journal of English and Applied Linguistics

The present article offers an overview of the Oxford English Dictionary’s (OED) continuing efforts to improve its coverage of words originating from world varieties of English, such as those spoken in Anglophone communities in postcolonial Southeast Asia. In these new centers of English, millions of second-language speakers use a variety of linguistic mechanisms to adapt the English word store to their unique cultural and social milieu, and the OED is documenting this distinctive vocabulary by including a wider range of lexical innovations from Southeast Asian varieties of English that more accurately reflect the way that the language is being used …

Impact Of Community Health Needs Assessments As Barriers To Chronic Disease Prevention: A Comparative Study, Marissa E. Woelm Ms. Dec 2025

Impact Of Community Health Needs Assessments As Barriers To Chronic Disease Prevention: A Comparative Study, Marissa E. Woelm Ms.

Honors Thesis

Community health needs assessments (CHNAs) are vital tools for identifying population health priorities through monitoring chronic diseases and conditions; however, their effectiveness in preventing chronic diseases remains debated. This comparative study examines CHNAs from sixteen South Dakota hospitals across Avera, Sanford, Monument Health, and independent systems to evaluate their role in preventing chronic diseases. Analysis reveals significant challenges, including biased data sampling, limited community engagement, small survey samples, and inconsistent implementation strategies. While CHNAs effectively identify mental health, cancer, and obesity as the top community concerns alongside several other diseases like diabetes and kidney disease, most reports lack specific timelines …

Integrating Generative Ai Into Ds 774/874 & Graduate Is/Analytics Education, Andrew Bushnell Dec 2025

Integrating Generative Ai Into Ds 774/874 & Graduate Is/Analytics Education, Andrew Bushnell

Business Analytics Student Projects and Publications

The widespread availability of generative artificial intelligence has weakened traditional assessment methods in Information Systems and Business Analytics education. In DS 774/874, AI and Emerging Technologies in Business (formerly E-Business) at the University of New Hampshire, auto-graded assignments and presentation-based deliverables no longer reliably indicate student understanding, as AI can generate correct or polished outputs with minimal engagement. Using DS 774/874 as a case study, this paper combines course analysis, evidence from business analytics education research, and a targeted review of peer and aspirational programs to examine how AI is being incorporated into IS and analytics curricula. The paper …

(Post-)Colonial Shakespeares: Macbeth In South Africa, Mahmoud T. Kholeif Dec 2025

(Post-)Colonial Shakespeares: Macbeth In South Africa, Mahmoud T. Kholeif

Theses and Dissertations

The history of Shakespeare in South Africa is that of an often contested cultural battleground, with meanings fought over across a colonial boundary. In Chapter One, we examine some of the many cultural intersections between Shakespeare and South African rewriters. In the process, we can see how Shakespeare came to the region as a tool for colonial domination, but would eventually be used to rebuke the colonial narrative that was conservatively ascribed to him. He was used to enforce racial and political hierarchies, particularly through missionary education and institutions like the “Kaffir Institution.” The anxieties surrounding the ‘overproduction’ of Western-educated …
