Creating An Android-Based Calisthenics Application To Assist Students In Improving Their Physical Fitness, Restyandito, Narendra Poetra Wisnoewardhana, Danny Sebastian
Journal of Informatics and Web Engineering
College students, particularly those heavily involved in coursework, frequently do not prioritize physical fitness. Regular exercise is essential for preserving physical fitness and facilitating demanding academic tasks. Although there are other fitness programs available, such as GYM, jogging, CrossFit, and Yoga, users sometimes fail to make full use of them because the content is confined to exercise videos and descriptions. This matter highlights the progress of the Android application Kali Tech, which specifically concentrates on organizing and documenting calisthenics workouts. This program employs the concept of gamification by utilizing student achievement levels to encourage students to be diligent in doing …

A Document Analysis Of School Shooting On College Campuses, Kevin Lavelle Childs
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Despite media outcry and societal outcry, gun violence on college campuses in the United States continues to be an unresolved problem. Prior to on-campus shootings, college campuses were safe locations that were conducive to learning. Sadly, this is no longer the case. The purpose of this qualitative study was to identify the key characteristics of mass shootings on college campuses so that officials would be provided with information that would enable them to create safer campuses. Using a rational choice theory as the conceptual framework, which focused on the perpetrator’s behavior, a document analysis was conducted to identify and understand …

Teaching Sprinting As A Specialized Skill In Elementary Physical Education, Dillon R. Martinez, Scott Klepadlo
Teaching Sprinting As A Specialized Skill In Elementary Physical Education, Dillon R. Martinez, Scott Klepadlo
Essays in Education
This article highlights the gap between current physical grade-level outcomes and the practical implementation of sprinting instruction in elementary schools. This emphasizes the need for higher education institutions to learn from practicing elementary teachers, who have successfully incorporated sprinting into their elementary curricula. While pre-service physical education teachers are not typically taught how to teach sprinting as a specialized skill, some elementary PE teachers have developed effective methods for doing so. This article suggests that higher education practitioners should examine these practitioners to inform and improve their teacher preparation programs. This paper outlines several practical applications currently used in elementary …

Influence Of Oil Density On Self-Propelled Motion Of Belousov-Zhabotinsky Reaction Droplet, Vivek Bharat Meshram, Anupama Sebastian, Puthiyapurayil Sibeesh, T K Shajahan
Northeast Journal of Complex Systems (NEJCS)
Belousov-Zhabotinsky reaction serves as an example of the nonlinear chemical oscillator in which the reacting substance undergoes sequential oxidation and reduction. A droplet containing the BZ reaction, when placed within the oily environment, can self-propel. In this experimental work, we explore the effect of oil medium density on the BZ reaction droplet dynamics. In an oil medium with lower density, the BZ droplet exhibits higher speed and effective diffusivity but a shorter lifetime. Both the distance and speed of the droplet initially increase with droplet volume. However, beyond a critical volume, the distance decreases while the speed stays constant. Interestingly, …

The Formula For “Sustainable” Tuna, Brianna M. Grimes
The Formula For “Sustainable” Tuna, Brianna M. Grimes
Pace Environmental Law Review
Tuna is one of the most popular types of seafood. But in today’s market, consumers want more than just good taste; they want to know that the food they eat is sustainably sourced. A major obstacle plaguing the tuna industry and hindering sustainability is bycatch—the incidental catch of non-target species. To begin, this paper will provide an overview of the history and inherent problems of tuna fishing, and the existing public laws and regulations, both at the national and international level, that govern fisheries. Next, this paper will identify private environmental governance initiatives undertaken by the industry to fill the …

Arbitrators Of Environmental Disputes: The Guardians Of Natural Resources, Isabella Mazzei
Pace Environmental Law Review
According to the International Energy Agency, to achieve net zero emissions by 2050, global investment in clean energy must more than triple, reaching $4 trillion. More investments in technology for clean energy and infrastructure means more transactions across major industries. This inevitably translates to the potential for more disputes, including environmental concerns. Most energy related disputes are predicted to arise in the oil and gas sector, the power generation sector, and the offshore renewable sector. Arbitration presents an appealing option to efficiently resolve these emerging conflicts. This paper highlights the growing importance of arbitration in resolving environmental disputes. To explore …

Colorectal precancers in Lynch syndrome (LS) exhibit a distinct immune profile, presenting unique opportunities for developing immune-interception strategies to prevent carcinogenesis. Epigenetic modulation by EZH2 of immune-related genes is implicated in the carcinogenesis of different cancer types, including colorectal cancer. This study utilizes a mouse model of LS and ex vivo colonic organoids to assess the effects of the EZH2 inhibitor GSK503 on immune regulatory pathways, tumorigenesis, and epigenetic reprogramming. Our findings revealed that GSK503 significantly increased CD4+ and CD8+ T cells in both splenocytes and colonic mucosa of treated mice compared with controls. Additionally, a preventive dose of GSK503 …

Three drinking vessels (rytha) were found in the Persian-period building at Tel Ya‘oz: an almost complete human-headed rython and two animal heads, of a ram and a lion. The anthropomorphic rython is undoubtedly the most extraordinary of the three. It is a local adaptation of an Achaemenid vessel that was used at royal banquets. Its Egyptian appearance might suggest that is was created by an Egyptian working on the Levantine coast, or by a Levantine trained in Egyptian iconography.

Excavations at the site revealed a large building complex, comprising casemate walls built on bedrock around a large central courtyard with corner towers. It was a well-planned and well-fortified complex, located at a strategic point. The complex was occupied for a brief period of time, at the very end of the Persian (Achaemenid) period and the very beginning of the Hellenistic period (c. 350–325 BCE). It was destroyed by a violent destruction, which claimed human victims. The destruction was dated by a single bronze coin of Alexander III to 336–323 BCE. The pottery finds at the site were homogenous, including …

Excavations on the Northern Hill at Tel Mikhal revealed rich finds, in stark contrast with the poorly preserved and scant architectural remains. The earliest settlement here dates to prehistoric times, continuing into the Middle Bronze Age, when a ceramic industry operated at the site. In the Iron Age, settlement was sporadic, and mainly winepresses were unearthed. Toward the end of the Persian period, the area functioned as an industrial area for pottery production and a metal industry, as well as an area for storage and commerce. In the Hellenistic period, the site was also used for industry and storage. No …
