The Mission of Mercy (MOM) Project, initiated in 2000 in Wise County, Virginia, provides free dental care to underserved communities through mobile clinics. Over 24 years, MOM has delivered $50.7 million in dental services to over 71,000 Virginians. The project has expanded statewide, involving hundreds of volunteers, and has inspired the creation of permanent dental clinics and similar initiatives in over 30 states. Despite challenges like COVID-19, MOM adapted with smaller-scale Mini-MOM events, continuing to address the critical need for affordable dental care. This paper shares a novel format for Math Circles, which we call “circles with no center.” Circles with no center do not have a traditional facilitator. The problem or activity is novel to everyone in the room. All members engage in mathematical inquiry, and everyone takes responsibility for running the gathering. The “no center” format has benefits for participants and organizers. For participants, the format offers more freedom and more responsibility. Jazz history is often presented in collegiate textbooks and classrooms as a linear, teleological, and chronological progression from one style to another. Some scholars have recently reacted against this pattern and have instead focused heavily on viewing jazz history through the lens of one or a few narrow perspectives such as race, economics, politics, gender, or similar topics. This paper argues that both of these approaches, taken separately, are flawed, and that therefore a more effective methodology might be to integrate the two by utilizing the abstract concept of a spiral. Remote library internships in cataloging and digital scholarship can be valuable for both librarians and students. Leveraging online tools, we provide learning opportunities to library school students regardless of their time zone. In this presentation we share best practices for post-pandemic internships that nurture future librarians while tackling challenging projects. This presentation, delivered at the 2024 LACUNY Institute, explored the implementation and benefits of remote internships in academic libraries. Hot Wages: How Do Heat Waves Change The Earnings Distribution?, Giulia Valenti, Francesco Vona

We investigate the impact of heat waves on individual earnings using retrospective panel data (SHARE) matched with high-resolution weather data (E-OBS), covering over 32000 workers across 14 European countries (1955–2019) from diverse sectors and occupations. Exploiting plausibly exogenous variation in heat wave exposure across cohorts within the same generation and region, and controlling for individual fixed effects, occupational sorting, and covariate balance, we find each additional heat wave day reduces earnings by 0.31%. Losses are larger in outdoor, manual, and clerical occupations, disproportionately affecting lower-income workers and those from disadvantaged family backgrounds, but are mitigated in countries with centralized collective …

Penelitian dilakukan dengan maksud menganalisis ketidaktepatan pertimbangan hukum majelis hakim dalam membatalkan SKW yang dibuat notaris. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian hukum doktrinal yang memaparkan masalah secara eksplanatoris untuk mengumpulkan data sekunder berupa bahan-bahan hukum melalui studi dokumen. Bahan-bahan yang telah dikumpulkan selanjutnya dianalisis secara kualitatif. Hasil analisis menjelaskan bahwa sebelum penghapusan penggolongan penduduk, masyarakat membuat SKW kepada lembaga-lembaga penerbit seperti lurah/camat, notaris, dan BHP sesuai golongan mereka.
