This research aims to identify pottery technological traits and attributes that suggest the presence of communities of pottery practice in archaeological contexts. Through the combination of ethnoarchaeological approach and archaeological ceramic analysis of vessels produced in present communities, we can identify communities of pottery practice in the past. The data obtained using diverse ethnographic methods and multiple archaeological analyses are relevant to archaeologists, as they allow the study of the organization of production in the absence of manufacturing contexts within the archaeological record. Public opinion predicts American small war sustainment through institutional causal mechanisms of Congress and political-military relations. An increase in general public disapproval (not necessarily connected to a war) predicts the time when Members of Congress look to their constituents for policy changes to appease broad frustration. Constituent discontent toward a U.S. small war is absorbed by individual legislators, translated into legislative constraint, and projected onto the Department of Defense that is highly attentive to Congress. Located in Lichtenberg, Berlin (part of the former borough of Hohenschönhausen), Gedenkstätte Berlin-Hohenschönhausen stands today as a memorial for the thousands who were killed and imprisoned there, from its construction in 1939 until its closure in 1990. This paper will trace the evolution of Hohenschönhausen from a physical space of confinement, to a sophisticated psychological apparatus designed to exert control over its political prisoners through the development of “Operative Psychology” (OP). Jacques Maritain’s ideas about democratic renewal remain as important and inspirational as ever. A less well-known element of Maritain’s political thinking is his support for grassroots community organizing. This support, peppered throughout his writings, comes into stark relief when examining his longtime friendship and correspondence with Saul Alinsky, the dean of community organizing in the US. This article argues, first, that we must understand Maritain and Alinsky’s friendship to properly appreciate the legacy of Maritain’s political thought and, second, that understanding the complementarity of their approaches allows us to see that together these two friends present a powerful strategy for …

In an era where cyberwarfare poses an invisible but potent threat to national security, traditional deterrence theories fall short in providing nations with a viable strategy to defend themselves. This is especially the case for small states, where limited national resources and cyber capabilities prevent them from effectively deterring larger powers. The Mission period in the southeastern United States (beginning around 1565 AD) was characterized by dramatic social and demographic change. Coastal tribes, which include the Guale, Mocama, Orista, and Yamasee, among others, were simultaneously faced with the challenge of negotiating new relationships with Europeans and the global economy, the spread of new diseases, an influx of refugees displaced by violence, and the threat of increasingly prevalent slave raiding. The paper, written for a research handbook, critically surveys some fundamental philosophical, historical, and doctrinal issues in the crime of aggression. The two introductory sections set the theoretical issues in the context of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, and explain the origins of criminalizing aggression under the heading of “crimes against peace.” Section 3 explores an ambiguity between aggression as first use of force and aggression as unprovoked use of force, while section 4 discusses the doctrinal distinction between acts of aggression and wars of aggression.

This paper investigates and implements a miniaturized microwave system for microstrip linear array antenna that operates in X-band (10.1 GHz), S-band (3.4 GHz) and C-band (5.6 GHz). The microwave system consists of three parts: a power divider, a directional coupler, and a matching network stub. These systems feed a linear array (16 elements) of patch antennas loaded with resonance planar omega structures array (160 elements) distributed in both patch (64 elements) and ground (96 elements) as the metamaterial structures for miniaturization purpose. By focusing on the recently established diplomatic relations between Israel and the UAE in the aftermath of the 2020 Abraham Peace Accords, this paper critically assesses the emerging narratives of peace and tolerance underpinning the tourism promotional material circulating in the Israeli media between September 2020 (in the aftermath of the Abraham Accords) and August 2023 (before the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas war in October 2023). The study employs a variant of critical discourse analysis known as Cultural Critical Discourse Analysis (CCDA) to unravel the cultural nuances embedded within this discourse. งานวิจัยฉบับนี้ศึกษาบทบาทพระธรรมทูตไทยสายอินเดียซึ่งนับเป็นตัวแสดงสำคัญในการส่งเสริมความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศผ่านกิจกรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนาและสังคมสงเคราะห์ร่วมกับตัวแสดงในระดับต่าง ๆ ประกอบด้วย หน่วยงานด้านการต่างประเทศไทย รัฐบาลท้องถิ่นอินเดีย และสาธารณชนอินเดีย ทั้งหมดมีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับการเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือและปฏิสัมพันธ์ทางวัฒนธรรมระหว่างไทยและอินเดีย งานวิจัยฉบับนี้ใช้วิธีการศึกษาเชิงคุณภาพและวิเคราะห์ผลการศึกษาตามกรอบแนวคิดว่าด้วยการทูตวัฒนธรรมที่แสดงให้เห็นถึงกลไกการทำงานของพระธรรมทูตและการสร้างปฏิสัมพันธ์ทางสังคมที่มาจากการสื่อสารสองทาง โดยพิจารณาขอบเขตด้านเวลาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2500 ในการก่อตั้งวัดไทยพุทธคยา ที่เป็นจุดเริ่มต้นของความสัมพันธ์ทางพระพุทธศาสนาอย่างเป็นทางการ บทบาทพระธรรมทูตไทยสายอินเดียต้องเผชิญกับความท้าทายในด้านความแตกต่างทางวัฒนธรรม ภาษา ศาสนา และวิถีชีวิต เพื่อปรับตัวให้เข้ากับสาธารณชนอินเดียและสามารถดำรงบทบาทในฐานะผู้แทนทางพระพุทธศาสนาในต่างประเทศอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ตลอดจนสามารถนำมาซึ่งความไว้เนื้อเชื่อใจของสาธารณชนอินเดียที่มีต่อไทย จากการศึกษาพบว่าพระธรรมทูตไทยไม่ได้มีเพียงบทบาทในการเผยแผ่พระพุทธศาสนาเพียงอย่างเดียว แต่ยังมีบทบาทสำคัญในการเป็นศูนย์รวมจิตใจต่อสาธารณชนในพื้นที่และผู้ที่เดินทางมาจาริกแสวงบุญในพื้นที่สังเวชนียสถานทั้งสี่ตำบล และมีบทบาทในการสร้างความสัมพันธ์อันดีต่อสาธารณชนอินเดียจากการส่งเสริมกิจกรรมทางพระพุทธศาสนาและสังคมสงเคราะห์ ทำให้การขับเคลื่อนการทูตวัฒนธรรมไทยดำเนินไปอย่างยั่งยืนจากความศรัทธาและร่วมมือระหว่างไทยและอินเดียอย่างแน่นแฟ้น พร้อมทั้งเสริมสร้างภาพลักษณ์ทางวัฒนธรรมและพระพุทธศาสนาเถรวาทไทยให้กลายเป็นจุดเด่นในสังคมอินเดีย ในขณะเดียวกัน พระธรรมทูตไทยได้มีบทบาทมากยิ่งขึ้นต่อการเจริญสัมพันธ์ไมตรีในต่างประเทศและได้รับการตอบสนองเป็นอย่างดีจากสาธารณชนและรัฐบาลท้องถิ่นของอินเดีย โดยวัดไทยในอินเดียได้มีจำนวนเพิ่มมากขึ้นเพื่อเป็นศูนย์อำนวยการช่วยเหลือพุทธศาสนิกชนที่เดินทางมาจาริกแสวงบุญ บทบาทพระธรรมทูตไทยได้แสดงให้เห็นถึงบทบาทในการขับเคลื่อนพระพุทธศาสนา วัฒนธรรม คุณภาพชีวิต และการท่องเที่ยว ทำให้การเสริมสร้างความร่วมมือระหว่างไทยและอินเดียดำเนินต่อไปอย่างยั่งยืนภายใต้พื้นฐานของความเข้าใจอันดี อย่างไรก็ตาม ผลลัพธ์ของการทูตวัฒนธรรมไม่สามารถสำเร็จได้ภายในระยะเวลาอันสั้น แต่ต้องถูกสั่งสมจนเกิดความไว้เนื้อเชื้อใจที่แสดงออกผ่านการมีปฏิสัมพันธ์ ความร่วมมือ และนโยบายต่างประเทศ ด้วยเหตุนี้ การศึกษาประเด็นความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศสามารถพิจารณาถึงการทูตวัฒนธรรมที่เป็นอีกหนึ่งหนทางในการแสวงหาซึ่งผลประโยชน์แห่งชาติ โดยมีพระธรรมทูตไทยเป็นตัวแสดงทางการทูตที่มีส่วนสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศและเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการตอบสนองเจตนารมณ์ตามแผนแม่บทภายใต้ยุทธศาสตร์ชาติประเด็นการต่างประเทศ

Prohibition In Sanford: Local Lives Questioning A National Narrative Presented Through Data, Discourse Analysis And Digital Mapping, Lindsey K. Yeazell

This thesis uses a microhistorical methodology to examine the social impact and lived experience of Prohibition in Sanford, Florida, and the surrounding area – an historically "dry" community. Historiographical claims from state, regional, and national studies are tested through data sampling of Sanford Municipal Court Records; close readings of more than 200 Sanford Herald articles; and an oral history with a local museum curator based on family tradition.

Network resilience is the capacity of a network to maintain and restore its fundamental operations during or after a failure. This paper investigates the resilience of communication networks with heterogeneous nodes, with host nodes that generate and receive packets and routers that only forward packets. We focus on how traffic generation patterns, defined as the distribution of data packet creation across hosts, affect network resilience. While previous studies identified optimal host placements that balance traffic loads and enhance network performance, this research explores how traffic generation patterns influence network resilience, particularly during cascading failures, where the failure of one node …

The representation of Indigenous land-based cosmologies within Ernest Callenbach’s Ecotopia communicates a real perception of our world through the constructed imaginative society within this speculative fiction novel. Ecotopia is an alternative Pacific West Coast society that counters the dominant United States model in its holistic and green approach. This green society relies heavily on Indigenous ideology but lacks actual Indigenous voices or communities within this white idealized society.
