Western perceptions of intelligence in correlation with Cartesian Mind/Body Dualism can have a detrimental impact on the way students receive and are affected by information. In collegiate settings where students participate in Western concert dance technique classrooms and dance academic courses, a student’s reputation for excelling in one area or another can influence the teacher’s perception of the student’s abilities. This can cause instructors to presume a generalized understanding of what a student is capable of and encourage an unbalanced engagement with the student’s abilities within one type of classroom versus another. This research examines the violent misogyny and contempt for the female body in, but not limited to, Western Christian environments using as a lens the life and practices of Catherine Benincasa, a mystic and tertiary Dominican sainted in 1461 as Saint Catherine of Siena. Further, the research looks at the use of the abject and grotesque in performance, as well as transformative storytelling, as a means of making lived experience visible, and is explored as a liberatory response to such systems of domination and violence. \the ‘I’ in Invisible\ is a work of autoethnography that looks at the Black male body as a moved site of analysis to illuminate the performance of Black masculinity in Western concert dance as a means towards social survival by highlighting perceptions and tropes of Black, male bodies in motion. This thesis reflects upon grind culture's effect on the millennial generation, beginning with an examination of the origins of our modern-day grind culture and how it continues to encourage us to overwork ourselves to burnout. By investigating late-stage capitalism's influence on my life and my emotional capabilities as a dancer and a parent, I aim to chart an alternative path forward. This thesis chronicles this moment in time as I challenge myself to find a new way to exist in resistance to the grind with embodiment and rest practices not only for my own life but my family as well.

The performative nature of concert dance requires a profound awareness and understanding of the body and the mind. Formal dance training situates an environment where the investigation of the body is crucial, often leaving the responsibility of internal inquiry to the dancer. In my experience as a Black, Queer, and Trans/Non-Binary person assigned male at birth, this investigation has been incredibly difficult. As library budgets are cut or remain flat, librarians asked to do more with less are considering diverse data to investigate how best to invest limited funds. The data available to librarians are extensive but they may also be contradictory. In this presentation, we contextualize findings from interviews conducted with Illinois State University faculty with institutional and collections data. Using the words of faculty members across disciplines, we highlight some of the tensions around discovery and access to scholarly literature, perceptions of urgency, and engagement with open access. The life and work of many nineteenth-century women composers cannot be satisfactorily studied or understood due to a lack of documentary evidence. In the case of Alma Mahler, however, it is not a lack of manuscript materials or biographical accounts that preclude the appraisal of her legacy, but rather the sheer volume and often contradictory nature of accounts. Although her early life writing emphasized the importance of music, she later downplayed her identity as a composer and emphasized her role of patron of the arts and muse to “great men.” I would argue, however, that if biography is a tool …

Retail investors and other stakeholders are vigorously and loudly taking positions regarding corporate governance issues on social media. They are gathering on social media to discuss which stocks to invest in and to debate and collectively act on corporate governance-related matters. Propelled by new technologies and social media, retail investor engagement has shifted away from traditional venues like corporate voting and shareholder proposals. Retail investors have opened tens of millions of new brokerage accounts since 2020. The Supreme Court relies increasingly on anti-classification rules to implement the Constitution’s commands of even-handed state treatment. These rules direct attention to whether an instance of a forbidden classification is present on the face of a challenged law. They contain two necessary steps. First, a court defines a general category of impermissible terms. Second, a court ascertains whether an instance of the category is found in enacted text—triggering the familiar strict scrutiny analysis. So defined, anti-classification rules now dominate Equal Protection, Free Speech, ‘dormant’ Commerce Clause, and even Free Exercise jurisprudence. French existentialist literature was born in response to the horrors of World War II and the destruction of the Nazi. People began to contemplate the meaning of life (or the lack thereof) and the role of God amidst these tragedies. The two most prominent representatives of French existentialist literature were Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus. Both writers were once friends, but their differing approaches to existentialism drove them apart. Camus believed that people should value life in itself, rather than focus on the meaninglessness of a world without God, a philosophy that came to be known as Absurdism. Sartre believed …

The ability to accurately estimate the age at time-of-death of an individual is crucial in numerous fields, particularly in a biological or forensic context. There are various methods, features, and bones that are utilized for determining the estimated age of an individual. This study dives into the Lovejoy et al. (1985) age estimation method of the auricular surface of the ilium by using the current age phase descriptions against different reference photos. Although we are still a long way from the science fiction version of “artificial general intelligence” that thinks, feels, and refuses to “open the pod bay doors,” recent advances in machine learning and artificial intelligence (AI) have captured the public’s imagination and lawmakers’ interest. We now have large language models (LLMs) that can pass the bar exam, carry on (what passes for) a conversation about almost any topic, create new music, and create new visual art. These artifacts are often indistinguishable from their human-authored counterparts and yet can be produced at a speed and scale surpassing human ability.

This Article reviews and analyses scholarship at the intersection of anthropology and law. The first half of the Article provides context for understanding the boundaries, animating concerns, and tensions that have characterised the anthropology of law as an area of interdisciplinary inquiry. We focus especially on the subdiscipline’s Anglo-American history and show how a promising early period of engagement dissipated as both anthropologists and legal scholars lost enthusiasm for each others’ insights and methods. งานวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนากระบวนการเสริมสร้างคุณลักษณะการเป็นผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเอกชน โดยใช้แนวคิดการเรียนรู้ด้วยการบริการสังคมและการละครเพื่อการเรียนรู้ และเสนอแนวทางการใช้กระบวนการดังกล่าว โดยใช้ระเบียบวิธีวิจัยแบบผสมผสาน (Mixed Methods Research) เน้นการวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพควบคู่การวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณเพื่อสนับสนุนผล พบว่ากระบวนการวิจัยประกอบด้วย 4 ระยะ ได้แก่ ระยะที่ 1 ศึกษาและกำหนดคุณลักษณะเป้าหมายผ่านการสัมภาษณ์คณาจารย์และผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการเรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิต เพื่อนำไปสังเคราะห์เป็นชุดตัวละครสะท้อนคุณลักษณะของผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเอกชน ระยะที่ 2 สังเคราะห์กรอบกระบวนการเรียนรู้จากการสัมภาษณ์ผู้เชี่ยวชาญด้านการบริการสังคมและการละครเพื่อการเรียนรู้ ระยะที่ 3 ดำเนินกิจกรรมการเรียนรู้กับนักศึกษา 6 คน โดยเก็บข้อมูลผ่านแบบประเมินก่อน-หลัง วิเคราะห์ผลด้วย Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test ร่วมกับการสนทนากลุ่มและสังเกตการณ์ ระยะที่ 4 เสนอแนวทางโดยนำร่างแนวทางไปสัมภาษณ์ผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิ และจัดสนทนากลุ่มกับคณาจารย์มหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนเพื่อปรับเป็นแนวทางการใช้กระบวนการเสริมสร้างคุณลักษณะผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนโดยใช้แนวคิดการเรียนรู้ด้วยการบริการสังคมและการละครเพื่อการเรียนรู้ ผลการวิจัยพบว่า (1) คุณลักษณะผู้เรียนรู้ตลอดชีวิตของนักศึกษามหาวิทยาลัยเอกชนมี 6 ด้าน ได้แก่ การอยู่ร่วมกับความหลากหลาย โลกทัศน์ การจัดการชีวิตหลายมิติ การเรียนรู้แบบนำตนเอง ภาวะผู้นำเชิงเปลี่ยนแปลง และความเข้าใจวิถีการเรียนรู้ (2) กรอบการเรียนรู้ประกอบด้วย 5 ประเด็นสำคัญ เช่น การสำรวจชุมชน การใช้ละครสร้างการมีส่วนร่วม และการยึดจริยธรรม (3) กระบวนการเรียนรู้ 5 ขั้นตอน ช่วยให้ผู้เรียนพัฒนาคุณลักษณะดังกล่าวทุกด้านอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติ (p < .05) โดยเฉพาะด้านการอยู่ร่วมในสังคมที่หลากหลาย และ (4) แนวทางการใช้กระบวนการประกอบด้วย 5 องค์ประกอบหลัก ได้แก่ หลักการ แผนดำเนินงาน การเรียนรู้แบบโครงงาน การประเมินเพื่อพัฒนา และระบบประกันคุณภาพ

Antenatal Dexamethasone For Late Preterm Deliveries: A Randomized Controlled Trial, Hoang Minh Chau Le

Background: Antenatal corticosteroids (ACS) have been found to have beneficial effects on neonatal lung function, reducing mortality and morbidities, especially in very preterm infants. The World Health Organization recommends ACS for women at risk of preterm birth from 24 to 34 weeks of gestation; however, specific recommendations ACS use in late preterm deliveries remain lacking. This study aimed to assess the effect of antenatal dexamethasone on reducing the need for respiratory support, neonatal morbidities and mortality, NICU admission, and length of hospital stay in late preterm infants.
