Effect Of Alternative Rearing Substrates On The Growth, Reproduction And Nutritional Composition Of The African Field Cricket Gyrllus Bimaculatus (Orthoptera: Gryllidae), Atujune Katabaro, Blanka Joseph, Anitha Philbert Dec 2024

Effect Of Alternative Rearing Substrates On The Growth, Reproduction And Nutritional Composition Of The African Field Cricket Gyrllus Bimaculatus (Orthoptera: Gryllidae), Atujune Katabaro, Blanka Joseph, Anitha Philbert

Tanzania Journal of Science

The increasing demand for animal protein to cater to the ever-growing human population has prompted the quest for alternative protein sources from insects. The field cricket Gyrllus bimaculatus, is one of the species of major interest, however, rearing of this species depends on the commercial chicken feed, which is expensive. This study explored the suitability of food remains in the rearing of this species. Three experimental food types were formulated from various food remains, and fed to crickets along with the commercial chicken feed for 14 weeks. Crickets that were fed on a combined diet of mixed food types performed …

Institutional Support's Influence On Green Beekeeping Adoption In Resource-Constrained Biharamulo Forest Reserve, Tanzania: The Extended Theory Of Planned Behavior, Haruna Athumani, Ranger Kanan, Gerald Zachary Paga Tinali

Business Management Review

Green production practices are crucial for environmental conservation, yet scholarly research on green beekeeping remains limited. This study seeks to enhance the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) by developing an extended model of Institutional Support theory of Planned Behavior (ISTPB) to understand better beekeepers' behavior toward adopting green beekeeping practices. The model focuses on institutional support and its role in shaping individual behavior related to green beekeeping adoption. Using structural equation modeling (SEM), the study's empirical results show that institutional support and the three original TPB components, i.e., attitude, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control, positively and significantly influence green …

The Implementation Of Behaviour Change Practices In Physical Activity Referral Schemes: A Narrative Review, John Downey, Katie Shearn, Nicola Brown, Ross Wadey, Jeff Breckon

School of Nursing and Midwifery

BackgroundPhysical activity referral schemes have been used extensively as one pathway to support behaviour change in people with long term conditions. Best practice guidance, across countries, recommend that schemes use behaviour change practices. The effectiveness of these schemes is inconsistent, yet, little is known about the implementation of specific approaches, or what influences practitioner’s delivery. This article provides a narrative review of evidence exploring the implementation of behaviour change practices in physical activity referral schemes.MethodsAn electronic search of three databases (PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar) was undertaken. A menu of iterative techniques was also applied from the CLUSTER approach to increase …

Saving Camelot? Nil And The Future Of Amateurism, William W. Berry Iii

BYU Law Review

This Article explores the future of intercollegiate athletics with a diminished (and perhaps even disappearing) amateurism model. Specifically, the Article argues that athletic conferences are in the best position to “save Camelot”—to preserve the aspects of college sports that make them beloved and distinctive—while at the same time realistically accounting for an evolving economic and legal landscape.

In Part I, the Article describes the economics of the NCAA’s current amateurism model. Part II explores the recent changes to the NCAA’s amateurism model in light of the Supreme Court’s decision in Alston v. NCAA and the widespread adoption of state name, …

For irrigation of soil utilization of wastewater has risen significantly in the past few years. This wastewater often have large amount of trace elements and heavy metals, many of which are non-essential and harmful to living organisms such as plants, animals, and humans. In Pakistan, particularly around suburban areas, it is common to use this polluted water for growing vegetables. When such water is used for irrigation over an extended period of time, toxic substances can accumulate in the soil, potentially causing toxicity to plants and degrading soil quality. The samples analyzed in the study were prepared using the wet …

Exploratory Clinical Assessment And Treatment Of Autonomic Nervous System Dysregulation Post Concussion: A Case Study, Megan Coker, James May

Clinical Practice in Athletic Training

The physiological alterations in autonomic nervous system (ANS) function due to concussion are suggested to play a role in persistent post-concussion symptoms (PPCS). Currently, there are few objective and clinically feasible measurements to assess ANS vitality in patients experiencing PPCS. The following case study details an assessment and treatment protocol targeted towards regulating the ANS in an adolescent female suffering from PPCS one month after injury. Pre-intervention, patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs) used to assess perceived pain, anxiety, stress, and breathing function were administered as well as a physical assessment performed for breath function and vagus nerve integrity. The patient was …

Journal of Environmental Science and Sustainable Development

The relocation of Indonesia's capital city is anticipated to promote inclusive economic growth while embracing cultural diversity. However, this transition may affect ultraviolet (UV) radiation exposure patterns. The study investigated variations in UV exposure in the IKN region, focusing on urban development factors such as land use and population density that affect public health, sun protection, and skin cancer prevention. The research hypothesized that UV radiation is significantly correlated with these factors. UV Index data from 2010-2023, a hierarchical clustering method, identifies complex data patterns without determining the number of clusters. XGBoost, a machine learning model, was used for handling …
