Design And Implementation Of Audio-Visual Learning Media For Volleyball Passing And Serving Techniques In Junior High School, Indra Adi Adi Budiman, Ali Priyono, Endi Rustandi

Jurnal Keolahragaan

One of the main challenges in physical education learning is the limited availability of appropriate and interesting learning media for students. This research aimed to develop audio-visual learning media products in class VIII junior high school PE subjects on specific motion material for variations in upper passing, lower passing variations, upper service variations, and lower service variations in volleyball games. The research was conducted as development research adopted the Borg & Gall model: preliminary study, planning stage and initial research product development, expert validity test stage and product revision, small- and large-scale tests, effectiveness test and distribution of learning media …

A Multiscale Approach To Understanding The Shared Blue-Orange Flower Color Polymorphism In Two Lysimachia Species, Mercedes Sánchez-Cabrera, Eduardo Narbona, Montserrat Arista, Pedro L. Ortiz, Francisco J. Jiménez-López, Amelia A. Fuller, Benjamin Carter, Justen B. Whittall

Chemistry and Biochemistry

Background
Polymorphisms are common in nature, but they are rarely shared among closely related species. Polymorphisms could originate through convergence, ancestral polymorphism, or introgression. Although shared neutral genomic variation across species is commonplace, few examples of shared functional traits exist. The blue-orange petal color polymorphisms in two closely related species, Lysimachia monelli and L. arvensis were investigated with UV-vis reflectance spectra, flavonoid biochemistry, and transcriptome comparisons followed by climate niche analysis.

Results
Similar color morphs between species have nearly identical reflectance spectra, flavonoid biochemistry, and ABP gene expression patterns. Transcriptome comparisons reveal two orange-specific genes directly involved in both blue-orange …

Faculty Research 2024

The International Mouse Phenotyping Consortium (IMPC) systematically produces and phenotypes mouse lines with presumptive null mutations to provide insight into gene function. The IMPC now uses the programmable RNA-guided nuclease Cas9 for its increased capacity and flexibility to efficiently generate null alleles in the C57BL/6N strain. In addition to being a valuable novel and accessible research resource, the production of 3313 knockout mouse lines using comparable protocols provides a rich dataset to analyze experimental and biological variables affecting in vivo gene engineering with Cas9. Mouse line production has two critical steps - generation of founders with the desired allele and …

Journal of Bioresource Management

Brucellosis is a highly zoonotic infection found in animals and human, it has a high death ratio and lifetime sterility rate. The rates of intra- and interspecific infections have dramatically increased in recent years as a result of inadequate management and scarce resources particularly in developing nations. In cattle, reduced milk yield and elevated body temperature are the primary indicators, whereas in humans, soaring fever, overall malaise, and arthritis are the hallmarks of late-term abortion. Despite the fact that this diseases in animals and humans found unclear clinically, it will leads towards the hindrance in diagnosing this infectious illness serologically, …

New Hampshire's Well Educated, Underpaid Child Care Workforce, Rebecca Glauber, Jess Carson

Carsey Publications

In this primer, authors Rebecca Glauber and Jess Carson discuss New Hampshire’s child care workforce. They report that New Hampshire child care workers are more likely than other workers to have at least some college experience, but they earn far less. Annual earnings among full-time child care workers are just $32,310, about half those of other workers in the state. Although child care and early educators express high job satisfaction, the field is subject to turnover and short staffing as workers seek opportunities that better match their education and the cost of living in New Hampshire. They conclude that continued …

School of Graduate Studies Faculty Publications

Introduction: People with pre-existing conditions, including metabolic comorbidities, are at greater risk for complications of SARS-CoV-2 infection and expression of machinery required for viral entry into host cells may be a contributing factor. This study tested the hypothesis that high fat, high sucrose diet (HFSD) and alcohol use increase expression of angiotensin converting enzyme 2 (ACE2) receptor and transmembrane serine protease 2 (TMPRSS2) in tissues isolated from simian immunodeficiency virus (SIV) infected macaques, the most clinically relevant model for the study of HIV. Methods: Biospecimens obtained from a longitudinal study of SIV-infected, antiretroviral therapy (ART)-treated female rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta) …

Effect Of Citrus Sinensis And Musa Textilia Consumption On Lactic Acid Levels And Muscle Tension In Fish Auction Workers, Bina Kurniawan, Mohammad Zen Rahfiludin, Yuliani Setyaningsih, Nurjazuli Nurjazuli

Media Kesehatan Masyarakat Indonesia

Potassium deficiency is known to induce muscle fatigue, necessitating the inclusion of potassium-rich foods, such as orange (Citrus sinensis) and banana (Musa textilia) in diet. Previous studies have shown that consuming 150 g and 300 g of banana is effective in preventing muscle fatigue, with orange containing 237.4 mg of potassium per 300 ml. Therefore, this study aims to examine the relationship between lactic acid concentration and muscle tension reduction in fish auction workers after the administration of orange and banana. The study procedures were carried out with a quasi-experimental pre-test and post-test group design, and …

PURPOSE: Recent research has highlighted the mechanotransducer PIEZO2 as a crucial factor in lower urinary tract function, demonstrating associations with bladder compliance (BC), bladder wall thickening, and elevated bladder pressure. We explored the hypothesis that PIEZO2 expression may be associated with lower urinary tract dysfunction in men with bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) due to benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).

METHODS: The study included a consecutive series of patients undergoing open prostatectomy for BPH at our hospital between September 2014 and January 2016. All participants underwent comprehensive preoperative evaluations, including urodynamic assessments. During prostatectomy, a full-thickness fragment of the bladder wall was …

Protective Effects Of Fagonia Tenuifolia Methanolic Extracts Against Hyperhomocysteinemia Produced By Methionine, By Repeal Of Oxidative Stress Markers In Mice, Mahdia Hemal, Sakina Zerizer, Zahia Kabouche, Rachid Rouabhi

Journal of Bioresource Management

Natural products were extracted from many Fagonia species, belongs to the Zygophyllaceae family. They are used currently as drugs, these elements act as free radical scavengers. There are lot of stimuli which is able to produce oxidative stress, including hyperhomocysteinemia. There is accumulated evidence that free radicals can attack biological molecules such as lipids, proteins, and DNA, and causes changes in their molecular pathways that supports the pathogenesis of numerous diseases. In this work, the protective effects of methanolic extracts from Fagonia tenuifolia on methionine induced hyperhomocysteinemia in mice, on oxidative stress and damages in the aorta were sought. For …
