Examining Teacher Leadership: Phenomenology Of The Perceived Challenges Of Being A Teacher Leader, Noelle H. Green
Examining Teacher Leadership: Phenomenology Of The Perceived Challenges Of Being A Teacher Leader, Noelle H. Green
The Interactive Journal of Global Leadership and Learning Infographics
Today’s school leaders recognize that one person, mainly the principal, cannot adequately address the needs of all members of the school community. Many principals rely on teacher leaders to lead alongside them to further school improvement, knowing that the traditional way of thinking of school leadership as being the sole role of the principal is no longer effective or efficient. While K-12 teachers typically have a strong background in child development, psychology, and pedagogy, many lack experience in leading and facilitating adults and have little background in adult learning theory.
The purpose of this research is to determine how K-12 …
The Effects Of A Shared Vision Of Teacher Leadership On Classroom Teachers’ Instruction, Tiffany L. Bockelmann
The Effects Of A Shared Vision Of Teacher Leadership On Classroom Teachers’ Instruction, Tiffany L. Bockelmann
The Interactive Journal of Global Leadership and Learning Infographics
Many models of instructional teacher leadership exist in schools with various outcomes for teachers. The aim of this illustrative case study was to understand systemic alignment in a formal teacher leadership system and how this alignment impacted instructional change. This dissertation was framed by three research questions: 1) How do the rationales of teachers, teacher leaders, and administrators regarding teacher leadership in their school align? 2) How does the coherence of a system of leadership impact classroom teachers’ abilities to engage with formal teacher leaders? 3) How does the coherence of a system of leadership impact classroom teachers’ abilities to …
Narrative Inquiry In Practice: A Study Identifying Themes Of Persistence And Barriers In The Educational Journeys Of American Indian Students In Higher Education, Kristina Cirks
The Interactive Journal of Global Leadership and Learning Infographics
Increasing in popularity, the use of narrative inquiry in qualitative research study offers a unique perspective and context in sharing lived experiences. This article utilizes a narrative inquiry study to improve the knowledge of why American Indian students have the lowest college graduation rates in the United States. These narratives helped define the barriers that have discouraged American Indian students from persisting in higher education. Predominantly, participants identified the lack of financial support, lack of cultural competency, emotional distress, time poverty, afraid to ask for help, afraid to succeed, and navigating through the college processes as barriers to their educational …
Designing Effective Online Courses: Exploring The Relationships Amongst Online Teaching Self-Efficacy, Professional Development, Online Teaching Experience, And Reported Implementation Of Effective Higher Education Online Course Design Practices, Elizabeth Mcmahon
The Interactive Journal of Global Leadership and Learning Infographics
How best to prepare and support higher education faculty to design and teach effective online courses is a topic of great significance to higher education institutional leaders and faculty developers. This study explored how hours of professional development along with online teaching and learning experiences were related to online teaching self-efficacy and the extent to which participants reported implementation of effective online course design practices. Using a non-experimental quantitative correlational explanatory research study design, data were collected using a questionnaire. Participants included 104 online faculty from a large public higher education system located in the upper Midwest that includes both …
The Effect Of Db1976 On The Fibrotic Response In Three-Spined Stickleback (Gasterosteus Aculeatus), Saif Quraishi
The Effect Of Db1976 On The Fibrotic Response In Three-Spined Stickleback (Gasterosteus Aculeatus), Saif Quraishi
Honors Scholar Theses
The study of fibrosis in stickleback has been a growing field in which there have been a few studies conducted. This study examines two experiments involving the inhibition of fibrosis in stickleback. The first experiment used fish from the Kenai River Flats (KRF) in Alaska. The second experiment used fish from Roselle Lake in British Columbia, Canada. To determine the impact the drug had on fibrosis, sticklebacks from the KRF population were treated with DB1976 as well as alum, a pro‐inflammatory vaccine adjuvant that causes fibrosis (Kool et. al 2012). When each DB1976 + alum treatment group was compared with …

Simulation-Based Adaptive Interface For Personalized Learning Of Ai Fundamentals In Secondary School, Sara Guerreiro-Santalla, Dalila Duraes, Helen Crompton, Paulo Novais, Francisco Bellas
STEMPS Faculty Publications
This paper presents the first results on the validation of a new Adaptive E-learning System, focused on providing personalized learning to secondary school students in the field of education about AI by means of an adaptive interface based on a 3D robotic simulator. The prototype tool presented here has been tested at schools in USA, Spain, and Portugal, obtaining very valuable insights regarding the high engagement level of students in programming tasks when dealing with the simulated interface. In addition, it has been shown the system reliability in terms of adjusting the students’ learning paths according to their skills and …
Improving Preeclampsia Education And Assessment Frequency Among Nurses And Patients With Non-Severe Features In A Postpartum Unit, Monica Heredia
Improving Preeclampsia Education And Assessment Frequency Among Nurses And Patients With Non-Severe Features In A Postpartum Unit, Monica Heredia
Master's Projects and Capstones
Problem: This Quality Improvement project aimed to improve preeclampsia education among Registered Nurses (RNs) and simplify the preeclampsia assessment frequency for patients with non-severe features in the Mother-Baby Postpartum Unit at Hospital Y.
Context: The Quality Improvement project occurred in a 25-bed Mother-Baby Postpartum unit at Hospital Y. The nurse educators at Hospital Y requested that University of San Francisco (USF) nursing students focus on increasing preeclampsia education among nurses and reducing the nursing assessment frequency.
Interventions: Collect quantitative data through observation and hand anonymous questionnaires to the registered nurses and clinical nurse leaders (CNLs) to determine …
Solar-Powered Microgrids In Northern California: An Opportunity For Resilience, Marina Riddle
Solar-Powered Microgrids In Northern California: An Opportunity For Resilience, Marina Riddle
Master's Projects and Capstones
Planned and unplanned power outages have been increasing in frequency and duration, negatively impacting all public sectors, and threatening public safety. These outages are deadly to those who rely on medical devices. As climate change-fueled extreme weather events (wildfires, earthquakes, storms, etc.) also increase in frequency, our electrical grid must be prepared to bounce back. Microgrids provide necessary redundancy and reliability. Through a novel GIS suitability analysis, based on solar radiation, land use type, local energy demand, distance to transmission lines, distance to roads, and slope, optimal locations for solar-powered microgrids throughout Northern California were determined. The counties of Fresno, …

Measuring Perceived Medical School Stress (Pmss) Scores Among Physician Assistant Students, Ashley Sharp, Anna Worthley
Physician Assistant Capstones, 2020-current
Wellness curriculum was introduced at James Madison University’s PA program in 2019. The intervention is student-led by upperclassmen and is two-part, consisting of wellness seminars and peer group discussions with a heavy emphasis on wellbeing, stress reduction, coping strategies and burnout. The aim of seminars and student-led discussions have been to promote mental health awareness and mindfulness practices, so that students experience lower perceived stress and greater life satisfaction. Perceived stress has not been examined among physician assistant students using the Perceived Medical School Stress (PMSS) scale which measures students’ perception of stress over four areas: medical school curriculum and …
