Becoming Avian: Amazonian Featherworks From The John P. O’Neill Collection, Madeline R. Blanchard

In 1998 ornithologist John P. O’Neill donated an ethnographic collection of 434 objects he was gifted from researcher Charles Fugler or purchased from persons in Pucallpa, Peru, during his time there studying Amazonian birds. I evaluate 18 feathered objects. According to O’Neill, the cultures responsible for the items are the Cashinahua, Aguaruna, Achual, and Arawak. Eighteen of these items are beautifully crafted arrangements of feathered clothing and objects. The collection includes five headdresses, five bouquets, a hat, a necklace, three tassels, a backrack, a scarf, and a hair tie.

The presence of beta-lactam antibiotics in milk as raw material for other dairy products is prohibited by legal regulations. The research on the presence of beta-lactam antibiotics in milk was done during the six months (January – June) 2021, including 181 milk samples where 1 sample represented about 3000 liters of milk from an average of 60 farms per day. The objective of the research was to experimentally examine the corrosion of steel fibers in two media: a solution containing potato dextrose and calcium chloride (S1) (nutrient of the biological agent Oomicetum Pythium aphanidermatum that facilitates the self-healing of cementitious matrices), and water (S2). The corrosion process was accelerated by the Cebelcor method for 15 days, with immersion/emersion cycles of 5 and 19 hours, respectively. The results revealed that the corrosion of the fibers in solution S1 was 10.64% higher than that in S2. Glucose metabolism is critical for the African trypanosome, Trypanosoma brucei, serving as the lone source of ATP production for the bloodstream form (BSF) parasite in the glucose-rich environment of the host blood. Recently, phosphonate inhibitors of human enolase (ENO), the enzyme responsible for the interconversion of 2-phosphoglycerate (2-PG) to phosphoenolpyruvate (PEP) in glycolysis or PEP to 2-PG in gluconeogenesis, have been developed for the treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). The pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), which represents over 90% of pancreatic cancer cases, has the highest proliferative and metastatic rate in comparison to other pancreatic cancer compartments. This study is designed to determine whether small nucleolar RNA, H/ACA box 64 (snoRNA64) is associated with pancreatic cancer initiation and progression. Chromatographic and spectrophotometric methods for the estimation of mebendazole in pharmaceutical products were developed. The flow injection method was based on the oxidation of mebendazole by a known excess of sodium hypochlorite at pH=9.5. The excess sodium hypochlorite is then reacted with chloranilic acid (CAA) to bleach out its color. The absorbance of the excess CAA was recorded at 530 nm. A study of non-diatom algal species composition in twelve sites from Greater Zab River path within Erbil Province, was carried out from April 2021 to January 2022 with monthly sample collection in twelve studied sites. Among them site 4,5,6,7 and 9 are the first for algal study in this area. The 112 different species of algae belong to 33 genera, 25 families, 13 orders and 4 divisions have been identified. Biodegradation is utilizing microorganisms to degrade materials into products that are safe for the environment, such as carbon dioxide, water, and biomass. The current study aims to isolate and characterize bacteria with polyethylene terephthalate (PET) degradation ability isolated from Shatt al-Arab water and sewage from Basra, the bacteria were identified as Klebsiella pneumonia. According to the findings, the isolates showed a highly significant difference in degradation of PET (24% during 7 days) and the percent of degradation increased to 46% at 4 weeks compared to the control. Bidirectional signal transduction between tumor epithelial cells and tumor microenvironment (TME) is important for tumor development. Here we show that Lin28b/let-7 pathway is indispensable for modulating the expression of Wnt5a in tumor epithelium, which could be secreted and then up-regulates Lin28b in cancer-associated fibroblasts (CAFs). Moreover, we demonstrate that Lin28b in CAFs promoted growth of PDAC by inducing cytokine PCSK9's production. Using an orthotopic mouse model of PDAC, we find that depletion of Lin28b in CAFs reduced tumor weight, highlighting the importance of Lin28b in PDAC stroma. This study discussed the effects of doping with silver (Ag) on the optical and structural properties of CdO nanoparticles at different concentrations 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 wt% prepared by the precipitation method. The materials were annealed at 550˚C for 1 h. The structural, topographical, and optical properties were diagnosed by X-ray diffraction analysis, atomic force instrument, and visible and ultraviolet spectrometers. Xanthomonas axonopodis pv glycines (Xag) is a pathogen that causes pustule disease in soybeans. Many techniques for controlling this disease have been widely developed, one of which is the use of biological agents. Bacillus sp. from the soybean phyllosphere is a biological agent that has the potential to suppress the development of pustule disease. One of the biological control mechanisms is through biochemical induction of plant resistance which includes the accumulation of phenols, salicylic acid compounds, and peroxidase enzymes. This study is aimed to Green-synthesize and characterize Al NPs from Clove (Syzygium aromaticumL.) buds plant extract and to investigate their effect on isolated and characterized Salmonella enterica growth. S. aromaticum buds aqueous extract was prepared from local market clove, then mixed with Aluminum nitrate Al(NO3)3. 9 H2O, 99.9% in ¼ ratio for green-synthesizing of Al NPs.
