The Role Of The Artist: Insights From The U.S. Army's Historical Employment Of Artists, Laura Goodwin
The Role Of The Artist: Insights From The U.S. Army's Historical Employment Of Artists, Laura Goodwin
Art 895 Research Papers
This study uses a case study and historical analysis to examine how descaling art education programs leads to diminishing the roles of artist in society. To demonstrate how support for art programs affects artists’ roles, this study focuses on the Army’s historical use of art programs that engaged artists in documenting history through the eyes of soldiers in both war and peacetime. The role of artist in the Army parallels the role of artists in society, and the diminished emphasis on art education mirrors what’s happening in our schools. Examining the Army’s history of scaling art programs up and down …
Analysis Of Phlebotomy Training Implementation To Reduce Lab Errors In The Clinical Setting, Sandy King
Analysis Of Phlebotomy Training Implementation To Reduce Lab Errors In The Clinical Setting, Sandy King
Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects
The primary responsibility of a laboratory technician is to obtain patient blood samples through venipuncture as well as collect, transport, and store other clinical specimens. Poor blood collection can lead to erroneous and misleading results for the provider in addition to the annoyance of repeat testing for the patient. The lack of formal phlebotomy training provided to nurses could be contributing to laboratory rejections. For patients receiving lab services, how effective is an implementation of formal phlebotomy training for nurses compared to non-formal phlebotomy-trained nurses, in reducing failed lab results? The purpose and aim of this quality improvement project are …

Planty: The Fitness App With A Plant, Zixin Alice Ouyang
Theses
It is common knowledge that physical exercise has multiple physical and mental benefits, yet many often find it challenging to maintain a consistent exercise habit. How can we design a more motivating exercise experience so more people would exercise? The proposed solution is Planty, an innovative fitness app. Planty aims to change the user’s exercise habits by providing an alternative motivation behind physical exercise by locking a live plant inside a terrarium. Users can only care for the plant through the Planty app through exercise. By linking users’ behavior to the livelihood of a live plant, Planty forces its users …

Attitudes Of Experiential Designers Across Design Disciplines, Danielle Degarmo
Architecture Masters of Science Program: Theses
The expanded use of the term scenography is widening its understanding of the word to encompass many experiential design disciplines beyond its origin in theatre. At its essence, scenography is the culmination of a designer’s collaborative efforts to take a prompt, whether it be a client program, a script, or other, and produce a holistic assemblage of experiential design elements to spatially engage an end user. Many experts in across design fields have acknowledged that there is disciplinary cross over among those practicing in experiential design fields in terms of design output or intention. By means of designer surveys and …

Affordances Of Mobile Technology To Facilitate Learning In Undergraduate Thermal-Fluid Sciences, Maeve Raphael Bakic
Boise State University Theses and Dissertations
In recent years, the pandemic has affected learning at all levels, in particular higher education, where higher levels of independence and self-motivation are required during distance learning. In engineering in particular, distance learning adds another degree of difficulty to an already complex field. Comprehension in engineering requires the repeated use of diagrams, high-level charts, and practice problems. Mobile devices, combined with a technology-enhanced curriculum, provide an excellent platform for learning in engineering as it allows for clear illustration and the transfer of complex ideas at any time and place. In alignment with the social-constructivist framework, these facets of mobile technology …

Classification Of Large Scale Fish Dataset By Deep Neural Networks, Priyanka Adapa
Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations
The development of robust and efficient fish classification systems has become essential to preventing the rapid depletion of aquatic resources and building conservation strategies. A deep learning approach is proposed here for the automated classification of fish species from underwater images. The proposed methodology leverages state-of-the-art deep neural networks by applying the compact convolutional transformer (CCT) architecture, which is famous for faster training and lower computational cost. In CCT, data augmentation techniques are employed to enhance the variability of the training data, reducing overfitting and improving generalization. The preliminary outcomes of our proposed method demonstrate a promising accuracy level of …
The Space Between, Alexander Dixon
The Space Between, Alexander Dixon
Electronic Theses, Projects, and Dissertations
The Space Between investigates the intricate relationship between perception and reality. By integrating graphic design principles with the optical qualities of glass, the exhibition creates visual distortions that challenge and redefine our understanding of the world. The pervasive use of black throughout the exhibition signifies the vectorized image, a vital element of graphic design and the technological abyss prevalent within our society. The fundamental geometric shapes, coupled with minimalist sculptural forms, employ a graphic approach to highlight visual communication's influence on perception.
Graphic design has a history of shaping public perception. The basis of graphic design is the act of …
