My artworks explore the impacts of the technology of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, which began in the early 21^st Century, upon global society and the human psyche. My works are instantiated by multi-year research in the areas of social psychology, cognitive dissonance, computer evolution and artificial intelligence. My body of work portrays a cautionary sensibility regards new technologies such as robotics, quantum supercomputing, Artificial Intelligence, commercial space travel and nanotechnology. In addition, my artwork attempts to increase awareness of the phenomenon of cognitive dissonance.

Feeling For Deaf Resonance In The Eighteenth Century And Beyond, Jason S. Farr

The article examines how resonance has anchored deaf self-representation in the eighteenth century and the present. Through an interdisciplinary framework that foregrounds Deaf and sound studies in the context of the eighteenth century, the article conducts a close reading of writing from two of the first published deaf authors, Pierre Desloges and Charles Shirreff. The argument is that synchronous vibration figures centrally into their sentimental self-fashioning at a time when organized deaf education was first being implemented in Europe. Children’s picture books contribute to children’s development of gender identity and can impact aspirations and expectations of roles in families and society. However, the world represented in children’s books reflects predominantly middle class, heterosexual, male heroes and characters. This paper reports on a cross-cultural study investigating gender representation in frequently read picture books across eight early learning centres in the United States and Australia. Forty-four educators working with 271 children participated. Data were collected from book audits and observations. In this article, we consider the emerging trend of solo, female-led superhero films, and their repeated location in aesthetically distinct pasts or “closed moments.” This pastness, we contend, serves to distinguish the concerns of the protagonists, which are often read as feminist, as redundant for the contemporary audience. This framing is in keeping with a postfeminist cultural context, wherein feminist values and successes are celebrated, while simultaneously declared irrelevant.

In this study, we aim to analyze the public perception of Twitter users with respect to the use of ChatGPT and the potential bias in its responses. Sentiment and emotion analysis were also analyzed. Analysis of 5,962 English tweets showed that Twitter users expressed concerns regarding six predominant types of biases, namely: political, ideological, data and algorithmic, gender, racial, cultural, and confirmation biases. Sentiment analysis showed that most of the users reflected a neutral sentiment, followed by negative and positive sentiment. Emotion analysis mainly reflected anger, disgust, and sadness with respect to bias concerns with ChatGPT use.

Patient‐ and family centered care (PFCC) is a model of providing healthcare that incorporates the preferences, needs, and values of the patient and their family and is built on a solid partnership between the healthcare team and patient/family. This partnership is critical in short bowel syndrome (SBS) management since the condition is rare, chronic, involves a heterogenous population, and calls for a personalized approach to care. The purpose of this thesis is to establish the difference between boycotting and canceling a corporation and what compels consumers to act. Consumer activism attempts to hold companies to account when a line, be it arbitrary or rational, is crossed, and these attempts are not always successful. In his hard-hitting novel The Spook Who Sat by the Door Sam Greenlee aims to help his target African American audience to succeed and thrive as their true selves with the novel functioning as a guide to resisting the ever-present physical and spiritual threat faced daily. On the one hand the novel functions as a manual for civil uprising, but underneath that surface, Greenlee argues that true African American resistance comes through nurturing self-determination, self-love, and self-esteem. The study of memes, known as memetics, have analyzed memes in many ways: for their political and social participation, for their multimodal presence, and their influence on online discourse. Abstract reasoning in early childhood is often described as following a "relational shift," over which children become increasingly sensitive to relations. However, recent work has challenged the generality of this account, showing that children in the US and China follow distinct trajectories in a relational match-to-sample task (Carstensen et al., 2019). This difference aligns with multiple cultural and linguistic factors implicated in relational reasoning, in which English speakers in the US and Mandarin speakers in China appear at opposite ends of a continuum spanning from a focus on objects (US) to relations (CN). This essay makes the case for engaging in counter-narratives and inclusive storytelling within the transactional clinic curriculum. The authors leverage lessons from Critical Race Theory to amplify the voices and experiences of underrepresented entrepreneurs and marginalized communities in both clinic seminar and selected casework. In doing so, we challenge hegemonic narratives of entrepreneurship and expose our law students to the presence and impact of interlocking systems of subordination that minimize the existence and contributions of entrepreneurs of color. In 2017, actress Alyssa Milano shared a tweet encouraging survivors of gendered violence to write “me too.” A media storm ensued as survivors answered her call in the millions. Anyone can look back at what survivors posted during the height of #MeToo, but we still don’t know why they felt the need to post in the first place. To answer this question, the social identity model of deindividuation effects and spiral of silence were utilized. Anti-Asian hate as well as shifting circumstances brought on by current events all around the world highlight the increased need for mental health support and services in an ever-growing Chinese population in the United States, particularly in regard to grief work. As data privacy and security come increasingly into focus among lawmakers, regulators, companies, and consumers, concerns about animals’ privacy have gone largely unmentioned. This Article examines how both wild and domestic animals have informational privacy interests—that is, interests in protecting information about themselves. The Article discusses three examples of how informational privacy for animals is not merely a theoretical concept but directly relates to animals’ broader welfare interests. Finally, this Article discusses why privacy provides a helpful theoretical framework and vocabulary for addressing these animals’ interests.

Over the last 20 years Muslims have received a disproportionate amount of news media attention. In 2017 they were again thrust into the spotlight when the Trump administration issued a travel ban blocking entry from seven predominately-Muslim countries. With our hand coding of over 900 newspaper articles and mixed modeling techniques, we examine the newspaper rhetoric surrounding Muslims before and during the Trump administration and across US states. We find that after President Trump’s election, fewer newspapers mentioned religion or referenced Muslim claimsmakers. We also reveal that higher state-level religious salience was associated with more newspapers referencing religious claimsmakers in …

Counter-mapping is a technique that young people can use to take informed action on community issues through the mapping process. This mixed-methods study examined how ninth-graders in a large urban district in Iowa developed spatial thinking skills while engaging in counter-mapping in their community and the extent to which they used those maps to take informed action. A nine-week learning progression for counter-mapping scaffolded progress variables across three different spatial thinking standards and one inquiry standard. Findings indicated that students improved throughout the learning progression, but some needed teacher support to conduct spatial inquiries. Chances of reaching the upper anchor …

เพื่อศึกษาความไม่ต่อเนื่องทางวาทกรรม การตีความของมารดา และกลวิธีการประกอบสร้างวาทกรรมในเชิงเรื่องเล่าต่อการเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่ซึ่งมีอิทธิพลต่อชนชั้นกลางชาวไทย งานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพชิ้นนี้ศึกษาตัวบทที่มีเนื้อหาเกี่ยวกับแม่และเผยแพร่ในปี พ.ศ.2475-2565 อาทิ แบบเรียนภาษาไทย วรรณกรรม ละครโทรทัศน์ นิตยสาร สมุดบันทึกสุขภาพแม่และเด็ก สื่อสังคมออนไลน์ รวมถึงโฆษณา และข่าวในพระราชสำนัก ผลการวิจัยพบวาทกรรมนมแม่ซึ่งสามารถแบ่งออกเป็น 5 ยุค ดังนี้ (1) ยุคก่อนกรอบการวิจัย คติทางพุทธให้ความหมายของนมแม่ว่ากลั่นมาจากเลือดในอกด้วยความรักของแม่ น้ำนมแม่เป็นสัญญะของจิตวิญญาณความเป็นแม่ซึ่งส่งผ่านจากเจ้าของน้ำนมสู่ทารก แม้แต่จากแม่นม กระนั้นไม่พบว่ามารดามีบทบาทสำคัญใด ๆ ในเรื่องเล่า (2) ยุคนมแม่อาหารตามธรรมชาติ นมแม่มีสัญญะของอาหารเชิงโภชนาการมากขึ้นและจิตวิญญาณในน้ำนมแม่ส่งผ่านเฉพาะมารดาทางชีวภาพ ไม่ใช่จากแม่นม มารดามีบทบาทมากขึ้นในเรื่องเล่าในฐานะผู้สร้างชาติและมีบุญคุณ (3) ยุคนมแม่แพ้นมผง ด้วยอิทธิพลของโฆษณาและองค์ความรู้วิทยาศาสตร์ นมผงเป็นอาหารทดแทนนมแม่ที่สามารถเติมสารอาหารเข้าไปได้ ภาพของมารดายุคใหม่จึงไม่ต้องให้นมแม่ (4) ยุคนมแม่แน่ที่สุด องค์ความรู้วิทยาศาสตร์และคติพุทธให้คุณค่าต่อนมแม่ในสื่อทุกประเภท คู่ตรงข้ามเป็นกลวิธีในการสร้างให้นมผงมีความหมายดุจยาพิษ ส่งผลให้มารดาที่เลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่เท่านั้นคือแม่ที่ดี (5) ยุคแห่งการกระจัดกระจายของวาทกรรม เริ่มปรากฏการตระหนักถึงระบบคู่ตรงข้ามและการต่อรองวาทกรรมว่านมแม่ดีที่สุดแต่นมผงก็ใช้ได้หากจำเป็น ในอีกพื้นที่วาทกรรมมีการให้คุณค่านมแม่ว่าเป็นน้ำนมคน คือมีความเป็นวัตถุและไม่แฝงจิตวิญญาณของเจ้าของน้ำนม จากปรากฏการณ์บริจาคน้ำนมแม่บนโลกออนไลน์ด้วยการตีความว่านมแม่คนใด ๆ นั้นดีกว่าและปลอดภัยกว่านมโค แสดงให้เห็นอิทธิพลของสื่อสังคมออนไลน์ที่จัดสรรให้แต่ละกลุ่มวาทกรรมมีพื้นที่อุดมการณ์ของตัวเอง มารดาในยุคออนไลน์มีสถานะเป็นผู้เล่าเรื่องและมีความเป็นปัจเจกบุคคลมากขึ้นกว่าแต่ก่อน ซึ่งด้านหนึ่งช่วยเพิ่มอำนาจให้กับมารดาในการต่อรองกับปิตาธิปไตย แต่อีกด้านหนึ่งกลับพบการผลิตซ้ำบทบาทหน้าที่ของสตรีให้มีจำกัด การตีความด้านการเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่ของมารดามี 2 จังหวะ ครั้งแรกคือช่วงก่อนการคลอดที่สื่อมีบทบาทมาก และอีกครั้งภายหลังคลอดซึ่งประสบการณ์ส่วนบุคคลร่วมกับสื่อที่ใช้มีบทบาทต่อพฤติกรรมการให้นมและความภาคภูมิใจในการเป็นแม่ กรอบความรู้ทางคติพุทธและวิทยาการตะวันตกปะทะสังสรรค์กันตลอดช่วงเวลาทางประวัติศาสตร์ และวาทกรรมหนึ่ง ๆ จะครองอำนาจได้เมื่อกรอบความรู้ทั้งสองทำงานสอดประสานกัน ผู้วิจัยเสนอแนะว่าการสื่อสารเลี้ยงลูกด้วยนมแม่ไม่ควรเน้นความหมายเฉพาะที่ตัวน้ำนมแม่ ไม่จำเป็นต้องชูภาพความสำเร็จของความเป็นแม่จากมารดาที่ให้นมแม่ปริมาณมาก แต่ควรนำเสนอมิติของความสัมพันธ์ให้มากขึ้นและสามารถให้ข้อมูลอาหารทดแทนนมแม่เพื่อเป็นตัวเลือกต่อมารดาหากจำเป็นต้องใช้
