This study sheds light on the relationship between phonological representation of words, phrases and forms, and their phonetic output by means of phonetic rules as proposed by Noam Chomsky and Halle (1968) with regard to phonological rules which are approached mathematically via notations. This practice, which is embodied visually in this paper, is more effective than rule statements so that the reader can get acquainted with the mechanisms these rules follow in order to activate the phonological images stored in the mind in conjunction with their phonetic perception.

Ware V. Ware And The Presumption Of Undue Influence In Confidential Relationships, Ian W. Fraser

Alaska Law Review

Alaska law has long recognized that a presumption of undue influence arises as a matter of law when a will’s primary beneficiary participates in its drafting and has a fiduciary or confidential relationship with the testator. In its 2007 decision Ware v. Ware, the Alaska Supreme Court extended this principle beyond testamentary scenarios to any situation in which the principal in a confidential relationship benefits from the relationship. Detailed social and phenological data collected from nesting aggregations exist for relatively few sweat bee species because nesting aggregations are rarely found in large numbers, even when local populations are highly abundant. This limits researchers’ abilities to assess the social status of many species, which in turn, limits our ability to trace the sequence of evolutionary steps between alternative social states. To address this problem, we demonstrate the utility of rehydrated, pinned specimens from pan trap and netting collections for generating inferences about the phenology and social status of a well-studied sweat bee species, Lasioglossum (Dialictus) laevissimum. …
