Most wild animals are urban avoiders, but some others become adapters or exploiters successfully living in urban areas. Often, the latter is assumed to be attracted into cities by readily accessible and digestive anthropogenic food resources. Here, we quantified food preferences of sixteen (eight females and eight males) Chinese mole shrews (Anourosorex squamipes) captured from an urban area for "cafeteria tests" in laboratory. Shrews were presented with twelve foods allocated into three sets (natural animal, natural plant, and anthropogenic food). Once the most two highly consumed food items from each set were determined, six items were pooled together to form …

This work aimed to evaluate the role of miRs (miR-4649-3p, miR-6867-5p, miR-4296, miR-210, and miR-1910-3p) that target the FOXP3 mRNA and IL-17A mRNA in psoriasis. Materials and methods: Forty-four psoriasis patients and 44 healthy controls were included in the study. Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) was used for the measurement of miRs. Serum IL-17A levels were determined by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) method. Results: Plasma miR-1910-3p levels were significantly lower in the patient group than the …

Popliteal Artery Aneurysms Treatments: Early Midterm Results Of The Use Of Endovascularstent Grafts, Kaptaniderya Tayfur, Mehmet Şenel Bademci̇

Turkish Journal of Medical Sciences

Background/aim: Popliteal artery aneurysms (PAAs) are abnormal bulgings, which account for 70% of all peripheral artery aneurysms. They are usually asymptomatic. In this study, we present our long-term results of endovascular stent grafts in the treatment of PAA in the light of literature data. Material and methods: A total of 63 legs of 63 patients with PAA, who were treated with endovascular techniques in our clinic between July 2010 and July 2019, were retrospectively analyzed. All patients underwent color Doppler ultrasound (DUS), magnetic resonance angiography (MRA), or computed tomography angiography (CTA) to identify the diameter and length of PAAs, vessel …

Turkish Journal of Veterinary & Animal Sciences

It was aimed to determine concentrations of plasma immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA, IgM) and acute phase proteins (?-1 acid glycoprotein, serum amyloid A, ceruloplasmin) and the association of these parameters with age, sex, and eye colour in Van cats. Blood plasma of healthy, forty-seven Van cats (Van Cat Home) fed with standard cat food were involved in the study. Cats were divided into four groups based on age ( 5) and eye colour (amber-amber, amber-blue, blue-amber, and blue-blue eyes described from left to right), and two groups based on sex (male and female). Plasma IgG, IgA, IgM, ?-1 acid glycoprotein, serum …
