The Effect Of Saline Flush After Rocuronium Bolus On Intubating Conditions In Adult Patients Undergoing Elective Surgery: A Randomized Controlled Trial, Ian Odari, Vitalis Mung’Ayi, Rajpreet Bal, David Odaba
Anaesthesiology, East Africa
Background: In emergency surgeries requiring endotracheal intubation, the time to effect of neuromuscular blocking drugs is a crucial time to avoid hypoxia and aspiration into the lungs. Various strategies have been undertaken to shorten this time. All these methods have positive results but some are associated with side effects. The effectiveness of a muscle relaxant can either be assessed using the train of four or intubating conditions on the Goldberg scale. In this study, we investigated the effects of a 20 ml saline bolus following intravenous rocuronium at 0.6 mg/kg on the proportions of patients with excellent intubating conditions …

Effects Of Il-10 On Local Cell Populations And Functional Recovery Following Vml Injury, Zain Blackwell
Effects Of Il-10 On Local Cell Populations And Functional Recovery Following Vml Injury, Zain Blackwell
Biomedical Engineering Undergraduate Honors Theses
Volumetric muscle loss (VML) injuries are prevalent in both military personnel suffering from battlefield related incidents, and civilians following severe motor accidents. Despite its prevalence, VML has no pro-regenerative clinical treatments in place to recover some of the functional capabilities of the damaged muscle. Free flap grafting, debridement of damaged tissue, and physical therapy are the only clinical standards available that offer little functional recovery benefits, even after years of consistent treatment. In this study, anti-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-10 in conjunction with autologous minced muscle was assessed as a possible treatment for VML injuries and its influences on cellular behavior within …

A Longitudinal Assessment Of The Energy And Carbon Performance Of A Passivhaus University Building In The Uk, Ss Korsavi, Rv Jones, Pa Bilverstone, A Fuertes
A Longitudinal Assessment Of The Energy And Carbon Performance Of A Passivhaus University Building In The Uk, Ss Korsavi, Rv Jones, Pa Bilverstone, A Fuertes
School of Art, Design and Architecture
There is a limited number of university buildings designed to the Passivhaus standard, therefore, only a few studies have assessed the standard's adoption in this context. This paper aims to address this significant gap by investigating the energy and carbon performance of The Enterprise Centre (TEC), a UK university building, designed and certified to the Passivhaus standard. The building's energy performance was monitored for four years and was predicted by the Passivhaus Planning Package (PHPP) simulations. Results show that TEC met the primary energy requirement of 120 kWh/m2 and space cooling requirement of 15 kWh/m2 during the first four years …

Preparation To Performance: A Conductor’S Journey To The Podium, Geoffrey B. Neuman
Preparation To Performance: A Conductor’S Journey To The Podium, Geoffrey B. Neuman
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
The journey to the podium for a successful music educator that conducts performing ensembles requires a strong methodology steeped in score study, rehearsal planning, repertoire selection, musicianship skills, performance skills, and administrative duties. At the beginning of a career, educators often find themselves lacking the high level skills necessary to become a successful educator on the podium. This is often due to the many non-conducting requirements needed to complete the degree. Once a position is secured and professional life begins, these skills are often not fully developed. This then results in the music educator lacking the qualities needed to prepare …

The Optimum Performance Program In Sports - Youth: A Case Study, Karolyne Bastos Stucki
UNLV Theses, Dissertations, Professional Papers, and Capstones
Ethnically and racially diverse youth athletes underutilize mental health services, resulting in social and economic costs to society (Gudiño et al., 2008; Snowden & Yamada, 2005). Almost half of all children and adolescents participate in sport, and sport participation is especially common in youth from ethnically and racially diverse neighborhoods (Holt, 2008; NSCH, 2017). Therefore, sport may be an effective strategy to permit diverse youth to receive mental health services. The current case study examines The Optimum Performance Program in Sports (TOPPS; a sport-specific family behavior therapy) in an Asian American youth athlete evidencing Social Anxiety Disorder (DSM-5). A within …
