Production And Characterization Of Mannanase From Aureobasidium Sp. For Mannooligosaccharide Preparation From Spent Coffee Ground, Syahriar Nur Maulana Malik Ibrahim

The aims of this study are to produce and characterize mannanase from the selected Thai Aureobasidium strain and use the enzyme for hydrolysis of spent coffee ground extract (SCGE) to prepare mannooligosaccharide (MOs). The optimum condition for SCGE extraction by hot water was 1:30 solid to liquid ratio with 60 min incubation time at 121°C 15 lbs per in2. The maximum yield was 9.5 g/100 g substrate. The second dominant composition of SCGE was hemicellulose at 28 %. Aureobasidium pullulans NRRL 58524 was selected as the best mannanase producer with 8.07 U/mL. Propiconazole is commonly used as a fungicide to minimize crop loss caused by various fungal diseases in many crop plants, including rice. Propiconazole has the potentials to deteriorate the environmental problems due to its chemical properties that it is highly persistent in soil after application, suggesting that the constant use of propiconazole could be problematic. Hence, the evaluation of its effects on plant growth and development is necessary for the assessment of future use of propiconazole. This research aims to investigate the liquid-phase selective hydrogenation of furfural to furfuryl alcohol in a batch reactor at 50ºC, 20 bar H2 using water and methanol as the solvent. The characteristics and catalytic properties of OMC-supported Pt catalysts (Pt/OMC-one-pot) prepared by one-step modified soft-template self-assembly method were compared with the Pt impregnated on OMC, activated carbon (AC), and non-uniform meso/macroporous carbon (MC) in the first section. The purpose of this study is to prepare mesoporous carbon/silica (MCS) nanocomposites using natural rubber (NR) as a renewable carbon source. A series of mesoporous nanocomposites based on NR and hexagonal mesoporous silica (HMS), prepared via an in situ sol-gel process, were used as precursors, which were then converted into the MCS materials by carbonization. The sulfonic acid-functionalized mesoporous carbon/silica (MCS-SO3H) was prepared by direct sulfonation with H2SO4 solution. This study aimed to isolate secondary metabolites from the stems of Abutilon indicum and to evaluate their α-glucosidase, pancreatic lipase, α-chymotrypsin inhibitory activity. Chromatographic fractionation of the n-hexane crude extracts led to the isolation of three known metabolite (1-3). The crude extract from all parts of the plant were evaluated for inhibitory activity on the alpha-glucosidase enzyme. The DCM-soluble roots were active with 10.2% at 25 μg/mL. The hexane and MeOH-soluble stems were active with 11.0% at 25 μg/mL and 8.0% at 0.25 μg/mL. The hexane, DCM, and MeOH-soluble leaves are active with 20.2% at 0.025 μg/mL; 20.0% at 0.025 …

Variable renewable energy (VRE) integration creates additional costs, called integration costs. These costs have grown with VRE penetration, potentially increasing the total system costs delivered to customers (direct integration costs) and decreasing electricity generation revenue, discouraging investment by generators (indirect integration costs). Thus, integration costs can serve as an economic barrier to the integration of high VRE shares. This thesis examines the connection of ethics and survival in the pre- and post-apocalyptic worlds in Margaret Atwood's MaddAddam trilogy: Oryx and Crake (2003), The Year of the Flood (2009), and MaddAddam (2013). It investigates the author’s imaginings of a dystopian society marked by rampant technocratic capitalism and unchecked scientism in Oryx and Crake. Applying Murray Bookchin's social ecology to shed light on the root causes of the apocalypse, it argues that hierarchical ideology and diversiform inequality deeply rooted in society lead to warped ethics, affecting the crisis. The objective of this study was to explore the effect of UV-C curing on the properties of ferulic acid-added soy protein film. The films were fabricated from soy protein isolate and added with 1.5% ferulic acid. UV-C radiation was applied at four different doses (0.32, 1.56, 4.00, 12.00 J/cm2) to either preformed film or film-forming solution. The mechanical, physicochemical, and morphological properties of the film samples were investigated. The Philippine migration scholarship heavily focuses on heteronormative issues that depict the migrant workers as heterosexuals. Due to this trend, there is a scarcity of studies on overseas Filipino workers who identify as part of the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ+) Community. Hence, this qualitative research focuses on eleven documented Filipino workers in Thailand who are males assigned at birth and identify as gay homosexuals. Colorectal cancer is one of the third most common cancer worldwide. Dysbiosis of the human gut microbiota has been linked to sporadic colorectal cancer (CRC). This study aimed to compare the gut microbiota profile of a total of 80 Thai volunteers, who were above 50 years old, among 25 CRC patients, 33 adenoma patients, and 22 healthy controls (HC). The 16S rRNA sequencing was utilized to characterize the gut microbiome in both mucosal tissue and stool samples. High dose of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), the common analgesia, might induce lupus activity through NSAIDs-induced gastrointestinal permeability defect (gut leakage) that causes endotoxemia. Indomethacin (25 mg/day) was orally administered for 7 days in 24-week-old Fc gamma receptor IIb deficient (FcgRIIb-/-) mice, an asymptomatic lupus model, and age-matched wild-type (WT) mice. The severity of indomethacin-induced enteropathy in FcgRIIb-/- mice was higher than WT mice as demonstrated by intestinal injury (histology, immune-deposition and intestinal cytokines), gut leakage (FITC-dextran assay and endotoxemia) and serum cytokines. If severe cases at birth are not diagnosed and treated promptly, they can develop into cerebral jaundice and hyperbilirubinemia. Hyperbilirubinemia is caused by an imbalance between increased bilirubin production and ineffective excretion of bilirubin. Objective: We conducted a pilot randomized control trial (RCT) to study whether oral calcium carbonate (CaCO3) can lower fecal levofloxacin (LVX) concentration and preserve gut microbiota diversity in healthy volunteers. Methods: The healthy volunteers received a 5-day course of once-daily 500 mg LVX oral tablet and were randomly assigned to treatment (6-day course of 1,000 mg CaCO3 oral tablet twice daily) and control group (no CaCO3). Porcine Reproductive and Respiratory Syndrome virus (PRRSV) is a considerable pathogen to occur disease in pigs and effect to economic on the swine industry around the world including Thailand. Routine observation, rapid diagnosis of PRRSV infection is essential for effective monitoring and disease control. The serological assays using highly conserved viral nucleocapsid (N) protein are widely used for the detection of antibodies to the PRRSV. Identification, Antifungal And Plant Growth Promoting Activities Of Endophytic Actinomycetes From Orchids, Nisachon Tedsree

Sixty-two endophytic actinomycetes were isolated from 15 Thai orchids. They were identified as Streptomyces (34 isolates), Micromonospora (21 isolate), Streptosporangium (2 isolates), Actinomadura (1 isolates), Amycolatopsis (3 isolates) and Pseudonocardia (1 isolates) based on their phenotypic, chemotaxonomic and genotypic characteristics. The antimicrobial activity screening revealed that Streptomyces (18 isolates), Micromonospora (12 isolates) and Streptosporangium (1 isolate) exhibited antimicrobial activity against Bacillus subtilis ATCC 6633, Kocuria rhizophila ATCC 9341, Staphylococcus aureus ATCC 25923, Escherichia coli ATCC 25922, Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 27853 and Candida albicans ATCC 10231. Superconducting hydrides and photovoltaic perovskites for energy applications are studied by means of the density functional theory-based calculations. First of all, the new decoration of Mg0.5Ca0.5H6 is confirmed thermodynamically stable over the pressures ranging from 200 to 400 GPa. The electronic properties reveal the possibility for this very material of becoming a superconductor under pressures. As a result, by performing electron-phonon coupling (EPC) calculations, Mg0.5Ca0.5H6 is found to superconduct at a maximum critical temperature of 288 K at 200 GPa, which completely exceeds those of its parent compounds, i.e. MgH6 and CaH6.
