Sacubitril/Valsartan (S/V), an angiotensin receptor blocker-neprilysin inhibitor (ARNi), has demonstrated beneficial outcomes in heart failure (HF) patients. However, the effects of the drug in mitral regurgitation (MR) condition are not thoroughly elucidated. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of S/V compared with valsartan (Val) on cardiac function, mitochondrial quality and autophagy in a rat model with chronic MR. The current study examined the impact of translanguaging on second language reading comprehension. The study involved an experimental and a control group. The participants in the experimental group (n = 38) were offered four opportunities to engage Arabic–their first language–in comprehending a text in English. These occasions for translanguaging included: (a) receiving Arabic glosses (i.e., only meaning) for key terms in the text, (b) employing their first language for summarizing four paragraphs from the passage, (c) using their first language in discussion for comparing summaries with peers, and (d) consulting the Arabic meanings (provided) while attempting the vocabulary items. We are witnessing an explosion in the construction of wind turbine generators, cell phone towers, and television/radio broadcast towers around the United States. The statutes, rules, regulations, and police guidance addressing when and where such structures can be erected near public-use airports are complex and intricate. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) focuses more on subjective than objective criteria in assessing whether an obstruction to air navigation is a hazard to air navigation.

Hudson Jr. analyzes the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark decision addressing the scope of public schools’ authority over off-campus student speech on social media. Situating Mahanoy within the Court’s broader K–12 student speech jurisprudence—from Barnette and Tinker to Fraser, Hazelwood, and Morse—the Article explains how the Court declined to adopt a categorical rule excluding off-campus speech from regulation while nevertheless ruling in favor of the student. After the City of Detroit underwent financial takeover and filed the largest municipal bankruptcy in American history in 2013, the city’s emergency manager encouraged mass water shutoffs as a way of making the city’s water utility a more attractive asset for sale—and for privatization—by ridding the water department of its association with bad debt. The sale never took place, but the water shutoff, too, became the largest ever in American history, with over 141,000 homes subjected to water disconnections over a period of over six years. Alternative life-history strategies (ALHS) are genetic polymorphisms generating phenotypes differing in life histories that generally arise due to metabolic resource allocation tradeoffs. Although ALHS are often be limited to a single sex or populations of a species, they can, in rare cases, be found among several species across a genus. In the butterfly genus Colias, at least a third of the species have a female limited ALHS called Alba. While many females develop brightly pigmented wings, Alba females reallocate nitrogen resources used in pigment synthesis to reproductive development, producing white-winged, more fecund females. "The current menstrual movement calls for overcoming the cultural stigma associated with menstruation, achieving “menstrual equity,” and ending “period poverty.” The stigma the movement seeks to address is that menstruation is seen as taboo, unclean, and impure. The movement’s aims are twofold: First, it wants to increase awareness of menstruation and remove discrimination against those who menstruate, thus achieving menstrual equity. Second, it intends to provide greater access to menstrual hygiene products (“MHPs”), particularly for homeless and lower income people, thus eliminating period poverty. งานวิจัยนี้นำเสนอการปรับปรุงประสิทธิภาพพลังงานโดยการจัดตารางการเติมน้ำมันให้กับรถบรรทุกน้ำมันที่เข้ามารับน้ำมันในคลังน้ำมันกรณีศึกษา โดยการจัดตารางการรับน้ำมันจะคำนึงถึงความสำคัญของปั๊มมากกว่าคำสั่งซื้อน้ำมัน และคำสั่งซื้อที่ถูกจัดตารางเป็นคำสั่งซื้อที่สามารถรับน้ำมันได้หลายชนิดในเวลาเดียวกัน ประกอบกับการใช้งานปั๊มที่ปั๊มแต่ละตัวสามารถจ่ายน้ำมันให้กับรถบรรทุกน้ำมัน 2-5 คันพร้อม ๆ กัน ซึ่งกระบวนการจัดตารางจะเป็นแบบฮิวริสติกพลวัต (Dynamic Heuristic) โดยอาศัยกฎ Least Operation Remaining และ Largest Total Processing Time ในการจัดลำดับความสำคัญของใบคำสั่งซื้อ และการจัดตารางเวลาที่คำนึงถึงจำนวนหัวจ่ายที่ถูกใช้งาน งานที่เหลืออยู่ในระบบ และการใช้พลังงานของปั๊มที่เปลี่ยนแปลงตามเวลา จากการจัดตารางด้วยฮิวริสติกพลวัตทั้งหมด 6 วิธี พบว่าค่าพลังงานที่ใช้ต่อปริมาณน้ำมัน 1 ลิตรลดลงร้อยละ 42 จากการใช้พลังงานเฉลี่ยเดิม 0.42 วัตต์ชั่วโมงต่อลิตร เหลือเพียง 0.24 วัตต์ชั่วโมงต่อลิตร มีผลให้ประหยัดค่าใช้จ่ายด้านพลังงานเฉลี่ยของปั๊มเป็นจำนวนเงิน 199,006.25 บาทต่อเดือน ทั้งนี้การจัดตารางดังกล่าวดำเนินการภายใต้กระบวนการจัดตารางที่รู้จำนวนงานล่วงหน้า ไม่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงจำนวนงานระหว่างการจัดตาราง ที่ถูกออกแบบโดยการคำนึงถึงลักษณะทางกายภาพของคลังน้ำมันเป็นหลัก

This cross-sectional study aimed to develop and test causal relationships between transformational leadership, job characteristics, organizational climate, job satisfaction, and quality of nursing work life among professional nurses in Thailand. The hypothesized model was conducted based on Kanter’s theory of structural empowerment. A multi-stage sampling technique was utilized to recruit 392 Thai professional nurses from 22 hospitals who met the inclusion criteria. Box jellyfish is considered one of the most venomous animals. The genus Chironex (C. indrasaksajiae) is a multi-tentacle box jellyfish found in Thai waters that are dangerous to humans, particularly the venom that could cause death within minutes. This study aimed to perform a proteomic approach to characterize the protein components of C. indrasaksajiae venom. A total of 532 unique protein groups were identified, including toxins and proteins essential for nematocyte development and nematocyst formation (nematogenesis). Toxins CfTX-1 and CfTX-2, with sequence coverage of 39.3 percent and 34.8 percent, respectively, are the most abundant in the venom of C. indrasaksajiae. …

Herein, molecular dynamic (MD) simulations were employed to study the binding mechanisms of organophosphate pesticides towards two metallohydrolases, i.e., glycerophosphodiesterase (GpdQ) and methyl parathion hydrolase (MPH). OPH are the class of enzymes which breaks down harmful organophosphates, including the pesticides and warfare agents into less harmful byproducts. The aims of this study are to produce and characterize mannanase from the selected Thai Aureobasidium strain and use the enzyme for hydrolysis of spent coffee ground extract (SCGE) to prepare mannooligosaccharide (MOs). The optimum condition for SCGE extraction by hot water was 1:30 solid to liquid ratio with 60 min incubation time at 121°C 15 lbs per in2. The maximum yield was 9.5 g/100 g substrate. The second dominant composition of SCGE was hemicellulose at 28 %. Aureobasidium pullulans NRRL 58524 was selected as the best mannanase producer with 8.07 U/mL.
