Issues In Translating Tarifit Tales, Hanan Bennoudi Aug 2021

Issues In Translating Tarifit Tales, Hanan Bennoudi

Dirassat

Oral literature is a sold as man; it has existed in the Amazigh language for many centuries. Among the innumerable genres of oral literature, folktales( Tinfasin Tarifit) remain the most important because they have played an important role in touching the heart of our collective being and permitted to people, young and old, to shift beyond the boundaries of reality. However, Tarifit tales have remained terrain cognita to this day because they were shutdown and stuffed in the family and village context.

The propositional functionals in Moroccan Amazigh: an attempt at classification

This article examines the question of subordination circumstantial elite in Moroccan Amazigh. Its object is the delimitation of the class of subordinates or propositional functionals. The overview of the notion of subordination in French grammar and linguistics illustrates the theoretical, descriptive and terminological differences. The study of these subordinates therefore involves various criteria, multiple approaches and contrasting levels of analysis. To address this question, we have taken advantage of the theoretical contributions of functionalism and the results of research in the Amazigh field which are affiliated with it.

Reaching Out: A Publication Trend Analysis Of Scholarly Articles Discussing Graphic Novels And Reluctant Or Struggling Readers, Mary Kirkham

SLIS Connecting

Graphic novels combine short text and pictures to tell a story or convey information while still engaging the reader visually. This is a potentially useful tool for reaching out to struggling and reluctant readers. Struggling readers have difficulty reading and understanding what it is they are reading. Pictures allow for more context clues than just text alone, allowing for the potential for greater success in comprehension for struggling readers. Reluctant readers, on the other hand, may have more of a distaste for reading. In some cases, they are capable of understanding what they read, but they do not enjoy the …

Problems Of Modeling And Control Of The Technological Process Of Ore Grinding, Djalolitdin Pakhritdinovich Mukhitdinov, Sanjar Boybutayev

Chemical Technology, Control and Management

The article analyzes the methods of mathematical modeling of the closed-loop process of fine grinding of ore in order to predict the composition of the crushed raw material. Analyzed modeling methods that consider the control of classification of crushed raw materials and finished products by the size of the recirculating load, simulation modeling methods, methods that use neuro-phase netthe research apparatus, in which the fuzzy logic apparatus serves as a fundamental component for the formation of conclusions. The materials presented in the article reflect the theoretical substantiation and generalization of the accumulated practical experience in modeling and control of the …

Dalit Women, Anti-Caste Aesthetics, And The Politics Of Representation, Ruma Sinha Aug 2021

Dalit Women, Anti-Caste Aesthetics, And The Politics Of Representation, Ruma Sinha

Dissertations - ALL

This dissertation examines key problems in the representation of caste and argues for its importance as a vector of intersectional analysis of world literature. It uses an anti-caste feminist framework to foreground representations of Dalit women in short stories, graphic narratives, autobiographies, Anglophone Indian and Dalit novels, and explores the politics of their publication and circulation to argue that, in a context in which Dalit voices are deprivileged in and beyond India, a focus on intersectional experiences and "caste consciousness" are vital to reimagining collective solidarity of Dalits with other political movements locally and globally. Recognizing the impossible yet necessary …

Cancel Culture's Impact On Brand Reputation, Jacqueline Odalys Barraza Aug 2021

Cancel Culture's Impact On Brand Reputation, Jacqueline Odalys Barraza

Theses - ALL

Cancel culture is becoming a relevant topic for public relations practitioners because of its negative impact on brand reputation. When brands do or support a wrongful action, consumers involved in cancel culture will use this as a reason to boycott a brand. This thesis aims to answer four research questions: (1) What are some key social media trends for brands that encounter cancel culture, (2) How do audiences, who engage in cancel culture, respond to brands that face cancel culture, (3) What do consumers' emotional responses tell us about their relationship with the brand, and (4) What can brands learn …

A 10-Year Post-Analysis Of The Maya Health Toolkit For Medical Providers, Lorenna Garcia-Bochas

Master of Science in Integrative Biology Theses

Researchers have often overlooked America's Indigenous community when conducting health disparities research. In Central and South America, The World Bank 2015 report identifies 774 indigenous groups living today (Davis-Castro, n.d.). One of the oldest known is the Maya people. The Maya have been through various cultural struggles, from the Spanish conquistadors of the past to current anti-indigenous discrimination, violence, and rhetoric. The historical conflict and prejudice have contributed to why many Maya migrate north to the United States for a better opportunity and a more peaceful life for their families. In doing so, they face many health risks to their …

Teaching, Learning And Academic Integrity During The Pandemic, William Saunders, Carlton Perkins Aug 2021

Teaching, Learning And Academic Integrity During The Pandemic, William Saunders, Carlton Perkins

Southwestern Business Administration Journal

Abstract

The COVID 19 pandemic is responsible for instructional delivery changes in the higher education environment. The forced closing of many traditional classrooms, and teaching virtually, is taking the transfer of knowledge to students into a different realm. Adjustments must be made by students and professors alike to ensure that students continue to learn. However, as institutions transition away from the face to face classroom setting to the virtual platform, opportunities for cheating increases and changes to teaching and assessment should be implemented. Included among the innovations and adjustments must be testing and assessment methods that will hopefully guarantee learning …

Attracting Newcomers To Canada’S Prairie West, 1896-1905: The Selling Of The West And The Persuasiveness Within The Government’S Promotional Booklets, Joshua L. Switzer Aug 2021

Attracting Newcomers To Canada’S Prairie West, 1896-1905: The Selling Of The West And The Persuasiveness Within The Government’S Promotional Booklets, Joshua L. Switzer

Gettysburg Social Sciences Review

Abstract: The prairie west of Canada was, nearing the turn of the twentieth century, considered to be empty, having not yet reached its assimilatory, and resource, economic, social or cultural potential. Many politicians, especially Clifford Sifton, sought to change this. Sifton eventually made Canada’s population increase a reality. He masterminded the most successful promotional campaign within Canada’s immigration policy to ever stretch the parameters of inclusion for enlarging the Canadian mosaic. The largest phenomenon of human migration to the Canadian prairie west was between 1896 and 1905. Sifton’s intercontinental and overseas promotional campaign became the magnet of attraction for newcomers …

Patterns In Eipa Test Scores And Implications For Interpreter Education, Deborah Michele Cates Aug 2021

Patterns In Eipa Test Scores And Implications For Interpreter Education, Deborah Michele Cates

Journal of Interpretation

The present study addresses existing skill gaps of sign language interpreters by analyzing a database of 1,211 scores from the Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment (EIPA) to answer four primary questions: what patterns are there in EIPA Romans across score levels, what patterns are there in EIPA indices within Romans across score levels, which discreet language and processing skills correlate most strongly with overall EIPA scores, and how does performance on those discreet language and processing skills compare between graduates and non-graduates of interpreter training programs. Characteristics of score patterns and correlations between indices on the test are examined and discussed …
