Parámetros Para Orientar Procesos Informales De Concertación En Movilidad Urbana Sostenible En Colombia, Erika Castro-Buitrago, Jorge E. Vásquez Santamaría
The Qualitative Report

Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
The Bretton Woods conference is a very important and detailed event in the history of international relations at the monetary and financial level, as its results resulted in the collapse of the old financial system based on the exchange of all international currencies against Gold (the gold standard), after the British Pound Sterling occupied the lead among international currencies in this system, and the announcement, In doing so, the United States transformed from an economically emerging country into a dominant financial and monetary force in the new monetary system after making the dollar an international currency. How did the international …

Developing An Active Tool In Gis To Determine Gully Erosion Levels Depending On The Bergsma Method, Omar Abdullah Ismaeel, Rayan Ghazi Thannoun, Bashar Moneer Yahya
Uruk Journal of Human Sciences
Gully erosion is the most significant environmental threat in the field of natural resource management. Recently, one of the complexities of soil erosion studies in Iraq is the lack of information on the location of gullies, as well as relying on traditional methods in studying this type of erosion. The objective of this paper is to develop an adaptive tool for estimating gully erosion levels based on Python and modular building in ArcGIS environment. This tool can be used for dealing with the stream network and calculate the length of the valley, as well as divide the lengths of the …

This study examined the potential of a residency/concurrent enrollment program to support rural students that are interested in the field of education. With 17 students in the program, the goals were to make a career in teaching more accessible to rural high school students through concurrent enrollment, to help future teachers solidify their career choice, and to establish partnerships with rural districts to continue expanding concurrent enrollment and ultimately fuel the teacher pipeline. For the purposes of this study, we investigated how these efforts might influence high school students’ understanding of teaching as a profession and examined if and how …
Families Across Borders: The Hague Children's Conventions And The Case For International Family Law In The United States, Ann Laquer Estin
Families Across Borders: The Hague Children's Conventions And The Case For International Family Law In The United States, Ann Laquer Estin
Florida Law Review
In our globalized world, as families form and dissolve across international borders, domestic family law does not adequately address the needs of parents and children with ties to multiple legal systems. For these cases, the Hague Children’s Conventions provide a useful legal framework developed and implemented through the cooperative efforts of more than one hundred nations. Currently, the United States participates in the 1980 Child Abduction Convention and the 1993 Intercountry Adoption Convention, and has taken steps toward ratification of the 2007 Family Maintenance Convention and the 1996 Child Protection Convention. The four Children’s Conventions offer an important opportunity for …
When Immigration Borders Move, Huyen Pham
When Immigration Borders Move, Huyen Pham
Florida Law Review
With recent immigration enforcement efforts, we have created a completely new paradigm of moving borders: laws, enacted at all levels of government, that require proof of legal immigration status in order to obtain a driver's license, a job, rental housing, government need-based assistance, and numerous other essential benefits. Unlike the fixed physical border, these laws require proof of immigration status at multiple, moving points within the country's interior and are triggered through everyday transactions; if unable to prove her legal status, a person is denied the restricted benefit. If a person is denied access to multiple essential benefits, then she …
Modernizing Water Law: The Example Of Florida, Christine A. Klein, Mary Jane Angelo, Richard Hamann
Modernizing Water Law: The Example Of Florida, Christine A. Klein, Mary Jane Angelo, Richard Hamann
Florida Law Review
This Article takes a national view of the modernization of water law. Using Florida as an example, it identifies some of the most important and controversial challenges faced by states. Part II provides an overview of the process of water law reform. As states attempt to improve water management, they have modified their common law water allocation systems with an overlay of statutory law. Often, the process occurs in a piecemeal fashion, resulting in a patchwork of rules—common law and statutory, old and new. In rare cases—including that of Florida—the process may be more comprehensive, one through which states supplement …

Abstract. The release of legacy contaminants such as fallout radionuclides (FRNs) in response to glacier retreat is a process that has received relatively little attention to date, yet may have consequences as a source of secondary contamination as glaciers melt and down-waste in response to a warming climate. The presence of FRNs in glacier-fed catchments is poorly understood in comparison to other contaminants, yet there is now emerging evidence from multiple regions of the global cryosphere for substantially augmented FRN activities in cryoconite. Here we report concentrated FRNs in both cryoconite and proglacial sediments from the Isfallsglaciären catchment in Arctic …
Will They Stay Or Will They Go? Leadership Behaviors That Increase Teacher Retention In Rural Schools, Matthew Frahm, Marie Cianca
Will They Stay Or Will They Go? Leadership Behaviors That Increase Teacher Retention In Rural Schools, Matthew Frahm, Marie Cianca
The Rural Educator
Hard-to-staff rural schools often struggle to attract and retain promising educators. Experts have consistently identified administrative support in rural schools to be of unique importance for recruitment and retention, yet a lack of clarity continues to surround the specific leadership behaviors that new teachers interpret as supportive. This qualitative study collected data from three focus groups; including superintendents, principals, and teachers in a program for aspiring administrators; and found that rural schools have to try much harder and in more active ways to retain new teachers because of the constraints existing within rural education. Rural school support for new teachers …

Timing, Latency, And Live Performance, Robert Klimek, Catherine Skokan
Timing, Latency, And Live Performance, Robert Klimek, Catherine Skokan
Symposium on Education in Entertainment and Engineering
How important is synchronous timing in a performance? In the world of science, engineering and the arts, we cannot avoid it. In the arts, it is a living and vital concept between composer, performer and audience. During the Pandemic, with an increase in virtual meetings and performances, made us more aware of timing issues and introduced us to a path with many questions about latency and affect between audience and performer. The hand waving, head nodding and eye gestures of Renaissance musicians led eventually to the classic conductor’s baton. These all helped ensembles of dissimilar instruments and/or voices, conquer problems …

Using Sociological Images To Develop The Sociological Imagination, Georgiana Bostean, Lisa A. Leitz
Sociology Faculty Articles and Research
We present a two-assignment series that developed students’ sociological imaginations and that could be done in a face-to-face or online course. The series used the Sociological Images blog and students’ own visual images (e.g., photographs) to meet course learning goals: (1) link sociological theories and concepts to social events/trends, (2) apply these ideas to real life by identifying sociologically relevant images in daily life, and (3) communicate sociological analysis in academic and popular written forms. The use of a blog encourages students to embrace public sociology. We present faculty and student assessment data (pretest from nonequivalent comparisons group) from six …

Remote Sensing And Gis Integration For Amazon Rainforest Wildfires Applications, Cong Ma
USF Tampa Graduate Theses and Dissertations
Known as the “Lung of the world”, the Amazon rainforest produces more than 20% of the oxygen of the world, which was originally a carbon pool for mitigating climate change, but in recent years it has become a significant carbon emitter due to wildfires. In 2019, a large-scale fire occurred in the Amazon rainforest, causing serious damage to the ecosystem and to humans as well. Therefore, managing wildfires effectively has become an urgent task for fire authorities. This thesis tried to incorporate spatial analysis and spatial statistics approaches to study wildfire from two aspects, namely the temporal and spatial distribution …
