Identifying emergent patterns of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) at the local level presents a geographic challenge. The need is not only to integrate multiple data streams from different sources, scales, and cadences, but to also identify meaningful spatial patterns in these data, especially in vulnerable settings where even small numbers and low rates are important to pinpoint for early intervention. This paper identifies a gap in current analytical approaches and presents a near-real time assessment of emergent disease that can be used to guide a local intervention strategy: Geographic Monitoring for Early Disease Detection (GeoMEDD). Through integration of a spatial …

Interventions And Supports To Ameliorate Math Anxiety In K-12 Schools: A Meta-Analysis Of Experimental Group Design Research, Madeline Rose Hardy
Theses and Dissertations
"Math anxiety is commonly defined as a feeling of tension, apprehension, or fear that interferes with math performance" (Ashcraft, 2002, p. 181). Symptoms of math anxiety are reported by 33% of students by the time they reach the age of 15, possibly contributing to this workforce dilemma (Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, 2013). Many models and perspectives of math anxiety have been established including conceptualizing math anxiety as a function of working memory deficits, sociocultural conditioning, lack of reappraisal, and anxiety as a precursor to escape-maintained behavior. Math anxiety is more common in individuals with certain disabilities, such as …
Substantial Changes Follow 2-Year Dormancy Of Wingfield Pines Abandoned Mine Drainage Remediation System, Garrett Struble
Substantial Changes Follow 2-Year Dormancy Of Wingfield Pines Abandoned Mine Drainage Remediation System, Garrett Struble
D.U.Quark
The passive coal mine remediation system at Wingfield Pines Conservation Area (Bridgeville, Pennsylvania) failed following a November 2017 rupture of the mining cavern it contained. The event caused a ~2000 gallon/min abandoned mine drainage (AMD) flow to bypass the remediation system, directly entering Chartiers Creek between November 2017 and September 2019. The system was observed during the last 7 months of its ~2-year dormancy and simultaneous repair, which drained the system of water. Personal observation, testimonies, and photographic evidence were analyzed to identify changes in vegetation, flow, and function of the system pre-rupture (2017) and post-repair (November 2019). Major physical …

New Hybrid Superconducting Fault Current Limiter For Primary Distribution Systems., Akram Ebrahim Elmitwally
New Hybrid Superconducting Fault Current Limiter For Primary Distribution Systems., Akram Ebrahim Elmitwally
Mansoura Engineering Journal
In this paper, a new hybrid fault current limiter is proposed for primary distribution systems. It incorporates a high temperature superconducting element in parallel with other two branches. The first is an inductive impedance to share the fault current with. The second branch is a gate-turn off thyristor switch controlled to operate the device in either of two modes: the main mode and the stand-by mode. For the main mode, it controls the temperature of the superconducting element and protects it against damaging excessive heating. Instead, in the stand-by mode, it keeps the device applicable without that superconducting element. The …

Frequency Analysis Of Circular Cable Suspended Roofs., Ahmed Badr
Frequency Analysis Of Circular Cable Suspended Roofs., Ahmed Badr
Mansoura Engineering Journal
The main aim of the present work is to investigate the dynamic analysis of circular cable suspended roofs which are the most common forms of suspended roofs using the frequency domain method. Although frequency domain analysis is used basically for linear systems, it may be used to analyze cable suspended roofs for which, wind is considered as the fundamental dynamic factor affecting in these structures. This is due to the fact that the fluctuating wind speed, except for sites in mountainous areas, may be neglected comparing with the mean wind speed. Many circular cable roofs have been analyzed using a …

Frameworks For Part Generation In Multiple Cad Systems And For Cad Simulation With Multiple Users, Jonathan Edwin Sadler
Frameworks For Part Generation In Multiple Cad Systems And For Cad Simulation With Multiple Users, Jonathan Edwin Sadler
Theses and Dissertations
Companies often require designers to work with and operate between different computer-aided design (CAD) systems. To interoperate between these systems, a neutral design standard for CAD models is needed that allows for generation, customization, and parameterization. Current standards often fail to incorporate file history and design intent. The research proposes a simplified, neutral design format that can be used to generate models in different CAD systems. The format proposes additional functionality not yet found in existing neutral formats or scripts. The system was tested by generating models in both NX and CATIA, then comparing the models for accuracy, flexibility, and …
Instrumentation And Application Of Image-Charge Detection Of Electrospray-Charged Microparticles And Microdroplets, Jiuzhi Gao
Theses and Dissertations
Image-charge detection is emerging as an important tool to analyze heavy and heterogeneous samples because of its unique advantages in measuring highly charged microparticles. Conventional image-charge detection instruments include at least three fundamental components: an ionization source, an aerodynamic particle delivery system, and an image-charge detector. Here I report research efforts that investigated the mechanisms of image-charge detection and proposed some instrumental developments of these components to suit specific research purposes. In Chapter 2, I report an investigation of the electrospray ionization (ESI) mechanism based on an observation that a certain portion of charged particles generated with an ESI source …
