Sediment Redistribution Beneath The Terminus Of An Advancing Glacier, Taku Glacier (T’Aakú Kwáan Sít’I), Alaska., Jenna M. Zechmann, Martin Truffer, R. J. Motyka, Jason M. Amundson, Christopher F. Larsen, N/A La

The recently-advancing Taku Glacier is excavating subglacial sediments at high rates over multidecadal timescales. However, sediment redistribution over shorter timescales remains unquantified. We use a variety of methods to study subglacial and proglacial sediment redistribution on decadal, seasonal, and daily timescales to gain insight into sub- and proglacial landscape formation. Both excavation and deposition were observed from 2003 to 2015 (2.8 ± 0.9ma−1 to +2.9 ± 0.9ma−1). The observed patterns imply that a subglacial conduit has occupied the same site over the past decade. Outwash fans on the subaerial end moraine experience fluvial sediment reworking almost year-round, with net sediment …

The main the performance of main concern of this work is to investigate experimentally the effect of operating parameters and primary nozzle position the steam ejector refrigeration system with barometric condenser. In this study, a steam ejector refrigeration system of 7.0 TR (24.42 kW) cooling capacity was used. The boiler pressure of 600 to 800 kPa, condenser temperature of 30 C to 48 C and, evaporator temperature of 6°C to 1/C are used. This paper presents new method for designing photovoltaic power system (PVPS) suitable for cooling the greenhouses. The designed PVPS is installed at Serw station at cooling cucumber crop. The greenhouse, under test has the geometrical configuration of, 6m length, 4m width and 2m height. The indoor temperature of the greenhouse is 50oc before cooling. A solar powered air conditioning system using a liquid desiccant is proposed to overcome the latent heat part of the cooling load in the air conditioning system. A solar air heater containing a porous material is used as a heat absorber. In addition, a rotating wheel containing a honeycomb clothes saturated with Calcium Chloride solution, is utilized for the regeneration and absorption processes. Different system parameters are investigated. The effect of airflow rate and solar radiation intensity on the system regeneration and absorption abilities are studied. Currently there is no clear guidance on the Indian Child Welfare Act’s (ICWA) application in the context of a civil commitment proceeding, which generally occurs at the state level. This Article argues that ICWA applies to any state court proceeding for civil commitment of an Indian child if the Indian parent cannot have their child returned upon demand. The plain language of ICWA provides for this reasonable interpretation. ICWA enacts rights for Indian children, their parents, and their tribes when a party seeks the removal of the Indian child for placement in an institution. Without adherence to these rights, an …

We report the case of a 60-year-old woman, presenting with left vocal cord paralysis (VCP). Diagnostic evaluation revealed sarcoidosis to be the underlying pathology. Computed tomography (CT) scans exhibited enlarged subcarinal, pretracheal, and prevascular lymph nodes as the possible mechanism of left VCP through compression of the left recurrent laryngeal nerve. Initial treatment with oral prednisolone and azathioprine led to remission of symptoms; however, tapering of dosage led to relapse of cough without any signs of VCP. The dosage of prednisolone was further boosted, leading to complete remission. A review of literature reveals 20 cases have been reported to date, …

Career and Technical Education (CTE) secondary school experiences have a positive impact on career development and academic achievement. This study explores other positive impacts such as technology attitudes, persistence, and cognitive traits that are associated with career and academic success. This study investigated the relationships between high school CTE experiences of 103 pre-service education students and technology attitudes, grit, and self-regulated learning. The results demonstrate a statistically significant positive correlation between the number of CTE courses taken in high school and technology dependence. Similarly, there is a positive correlation between CTE courses and self-regulatory skills. Grit was positively correlated with …
