Hiccups are a ventilatory mechanism involuntarily involving the inspiratory muscles and the glottis, Its physiological interest has not been demonstrated until today. Acute or chronic hiccups have a wide variety of etiologies. We report the case of a 50-year-old patient with a history of iterative sinusitis, who consulted a gastroenterologist for persistent hiccups. The patient's clinical examination was normal. Chest x-ray showing an abnormal mediastinal image leads to a chest CT scan showing a typical picture of COVID-19 virus infection: bilateral and peripheral frosted glass opacities. A nasal swab RT-PCR test confirmed the diagnosis. Admitted to an isolation unit, the …

It is unclear whether the measurement of maximum muscle strength in younger children can be performed accurately due to factors such as motivation and maturity (i.e., the ability to receive instruction). If there is a large change in a ratio between muscular strength and size from the youngest to the oldest, then this might provide some indication that the youngest may not have been able to voluntarily activate their muscles for reasons mentioned previously. This study is conducted to evaluate the performance of subsurface drainage system in the 30000 hectares Integrated Soil and Water improvement Project (ISAWIP) Dakahlia, Nile Della, Egypt (ISAWIP, 1994). The drainage collectors rates and its relationship with collectors hydraulic gradient. The overpressure in the drainage system and the fluctuation of groundwater cable were measured as indicators for the performance of the subsurface drainage system. This article explains the inherent loss of an indirect competitor and reduction in competition when a vertical merger raises input foreclosure concerns. We then calculate a measure of the effective increase in the HHI measure of concentration for the downstream market, and we refer to this “proxy” measure as the “dHHI.” We derive the dHHI measure by comparing the pricing incentives and associated upward pricing pressure (“UPP”) involved in two alternative types of acquisitions: (i) vertical mergers that raise unilateral input foreclosure concerns (and the associated vertical GUPPI measures), and (ii) horizontal acquisitions of partial ownership interests among …

The paper deals with the evaluation of field concrete strength placed on construction sites in Dakahilia, Egypt in the years 1994 – 2000. The main purpose of this research was to study the variability of concrete strength produced in different location on sites. Using the information of cube compressive strength data, probabilistic models have been developed to describe the variability of concrete compressive strength between locations. A total 859 concrete samples were randomly collected from construction sites for strength testing at strength of material laboratory, Mansoura University. The use of insensitive munitions such as 3-nitro-1,2,4-triazol-5-one (NTO) is rapidly increasing and is expected to replace conventional munitions in the near future. Various NTO treatment technologies are being developed for the treatment of wastewater from industrial munition facilities. This is the first study to explore the potential phytoremediation of industrial NTO-wastewater using vetiver grass (Chrysopogon zizanioides L.). Here, we present evidence that vetiver can effectively remove NTO from wastewater, and also translocated NTO from root to shoot. NTO was phytotoxic and resulted in a loss of plant biomass and chlorophyll. The metabolomic analysis showed significant differences between treated and …

In this article we study the Schrödinger-Poisson system−∆ u+ V (| x|) u+ λφu= f (u), x∈ R3,−∆ φ= u2, x∈ R3, where V is a singular potential with the parameter α and the nonlinearity f satisfies critical growth. By applying a generalized version of Lions-type theorem and the Nehari manifold theory, we establish the existence of the nonnegative ground state solution when λ= 0. By the perturbation method, we obtain a nontrivial solution to above system when λ= 0.
