AbstractObesity in adolescents is a worldwide epidemic. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 17% of adolescents in the United States are obese. These statistics put pressure on public health nationally and internationally. Obesity leads to chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and arthritis. This doctor of nursing practice project was carried out in a juvenile correctional facility’s clinic, where detainees visited for treatment of acute and chronic health-related issues. In Africa, especially Nigeria, maternal mortality is a public health issue among women of childbearing age (WCBA). WCBA living in the Ekpeye community located in Rivers state in Nigeria are at high risk of maternal deaths during pregnancy and labor or delivery. Data were obtained through key informant interviews with 9 relatives, friends, and health workers. The purpose of the key informant interviews was to identify perceived barriers that result in high maternal deaths and facilitators seen as promoters to reduce pregnancy-related deaths. AbstractInsufficient assessment and management of pain among the patient population during their hospital stay may result in ineffective delivery of care, increased length of stay, poor clinical outcomes, and decreased patient satisfaction. The quality report at a local facility showed compliance scores of 78% for administration of pain medication and 79% for reassessment of pain. These scores and the weekly patients’ satisfaction survey results suggested a substandard adherence to the facility’s pain management guidelines. In his 2019 book, Birth Rights and Wrongs: How Medicine and Technology are Remaking Reproduction and the Law, Dov Fox offers a compelling argument for new torts allowing recovery for wrongful reproduction. These torts would include three sorts of cases, those where wrongdoing (whether negligent, reckless, or intentional) caused undesired reproduction; stymied desired reproduction; or confounded reproduction, causing birth of a child different than that intended by the parents. The likely defendants in these torts are gynecologists, urologists, sperm banks, and IVF clinics.

The population genetic structure of crop pest populations gives information about their spatial ecology, which helps in designing management strategies. In this paper, we investigated the genetic structure of the Mediterranean Corn Borer (MCB), Sesamia nonagrioides Lefèbvre (Lepidoptera: Noctuidae), one of the most important maize pests in the Mediterranean countries, using microsatellite markers for the first time in this species. Insects were collected in twenty-five locations in southwest and southeast France from cultivated and wild host plants (Zea mays, Sorghum halepense and Typha domingensis).
