Research Participation And Employment For Autistic Individuals In Library And Information Science: A Review Of The Literature, Nancy Everhart, Amelia M. Anderson
STEMPS Faculty Publications
Autism prevalence is growing, and autistic people themselves are important in the library and information science field, both as library patrons and employees. Including them in all stages of research about the neurodivergent experience is valuable, and their input and participation is increasingly used in technology research, particularly usability studies. Neurodivergent persons also have unique abilities that align with a wide array of information professions and accommodations can be made that allow them to thrive in the workplace. It is critical that meaningful involvement of autistic individuals is a component of making policy at all levels.

Seamless Benchmarking Of Mathematical Optimization Problems And Metadata Extensions, Thiago Serra, Ryan J. O'Neil
Seamless Benchmarking Of Mathematical Optimization Problems And Metadata Extensions, Thiago Serra, Ryan J. O'Neil
Faculty Journal Articles
Public libraries of problems such as Mixed Integer Programming Library (MIPLIB) are fundamental to creating a common benchmark for measuring algorithmic advances across mathematical optimization solvers. They also often provide metadata on problem structure, hardness with respect to state-of-the-art solvers, and solutions with the best objective function value on record. In this short paper, we discuss some ways in which such metadata can be leveraged to create a seamless testing experience. In particular, we present MIPLIBing: a Python library that automatically downloads queried subsets from the current versions of MIPLIB, MINLPLib, and QPLIB, provides a centralized local cache across projects, …

Materials Science and Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations
The predictive capabilities of computational materials science today derive from overlapping advances in simulation tools, modeling techniques, and best practices. We outline this ecosystem of molecular simulations by explaining how important contributions in each of these areas have fed into each other. The combined output of these tools, techniques, and practices is the ability for researchers to advance understanding by efficiently combining simple models with powerful software. As specific examples, we show how the prediction of organic photovoltaic morphologies have improved by orders of magnitude over the last decade, and how the processing of reacting epoxy thermosets can now be …
Constructing And Writing Mathematical Proofs: A Guide For Mathematics Students, Ted Sundstrom
Constructing And Writing Mathematical Proofs: A Guide For Mathematics Students, Ted Sundstrom
Open Textbooks
This little book is not intended to be a textbook for a course dealing with an introduction to constructing and writing mathematical proofs. It is intended to be a reference book for students who need to construct and write proofs in their upper division mathematics courses. So it is assumed that students who use this as a reference have already taken an “introduction to proofs” course.
With the exception of Chapter 1, each chapter in the book has a description of a proof technique along with some justification as to why it is a valid proof method. There are then …

Catalytic Conversion Of Chitin To Lactic Acid In Hot-Compressed Water, Kodchakon Kun-Asa
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
Chitin is the second most available polysaccharide after cellulose. Chitin and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine polysaccharide, can be converted to valuable products by using homogeneous catalysis, most of the chitin generated by food processing is treated as industrial waste. For chitin conversion to useful chemicals has been investigated less than cellulose conversion. Therefore, in this research, chitin conversion was investigated. The result was divided into four part. The first part, the result showed that ball milled pretreatment could increase the conversion of chitin, which indicated that the crystallinity of the chitin had been reduced by the ball milled pretreatment. In the second part, …

Development Of Authentication-Based Captcha Mechanism On Touch Screen Environment, Nilobon Nanglae
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
CAPTCHA is a simple security test that was introduced to distinguish among humans and bots for decades. CAPTCHAs have been widely used on commercial sites, such as email service, and social networking sites, for protecting the system from automated software attackers. However, various techniques have been invented to break CAPTCHA, and one of these techniques is the 3rd party attacks. So, the design of CAPTCHA is unable to distinguish between human users and illegitimate human attackers. Thus, this research proposed a new type of CAPTCHA that is individually generated for an individual user. The proposed technique merges between biometrics and …

Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
In Thailand, alkaline granitoid rocks are less widespread and crop out in less extend as small stocks or plutons. The study areas are located in 2 vicinities of Tha Takiap and Mae Yan areas which respectively are a part of the eastern and central granite belts. Petrographic study of the rocks from both areas show that alkaline feldspar is the principal mineral phase with small amount of quartz and plagioclase. Compositionally, the investigated rocks fall in the range of alkali feldspar syenite to quartz-alkali feldspar syenite. High concentration of Na2O+K2O and high ratio of FeOtot/(FeOtot+MgO) vs SiO2 indicate that most …

Tolerance-Localized And Control-Localized Solutions To System Of Interval Linear Equations, Kanokwan Burimas
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
In this thesis, we are interested in a system of interval linear equations Ax=b whose coefficient A and right hand side b vary in some real intervals. We study two types of solutions called tolerance--localized and control--localized solutions of interval linear equations system. The characterizations of each solution are proposed in two main theorems. First, the proposed theorem is stated in terms of center and radius matrices which is directly proved by following their definitions. The other theorem is presented as magnitude sense with new notation. Based on the second theorem, the closed form of all solution sets is released. …

Insight Of Policy Support For Energy Efficiency Investment : Case Study Of Hotel Sector In Thailand, Athita Vivatpinyo
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
This study used the cost curve of energy efficiency measures to find the level of the cost of energy efficiency measures comparing with the energy price and the opportunities for policy change for enhancing energy efficiency implementation for the Thai hotel sector. The study was conducted in two parts. First, energy efficiency measures, investment costs, energy savings and related information were derived from three Department of Alternative Energy Development and Efficiency's projects, which are (1) Energy Efficiency Revolving Fund, (2) Energy Service Company Revolving Fund, (3) DEDE Demand Side Management Bidding. The cost curve of energy efficiency measures indicates that …

Convergence Of Trinomial Formula For Call Option Prices, Yuttana Ratibenyakool
Convergence Of Trinomial Formula For Call Option Prices, Yuttana Ratibenyakool
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
The binomial formula given by Cox, Ross and Rubinstein (1979) is a tool for valuating the call option price. It is well known that the price from binomial formula converges to the price from Black-Scholes formula which was given by Black, Scholes and Merton (1973) as the number of periods (n) converges to infinity. In 1988, Boyle introduced the trinomial formula which is another tool for calculating call option price. He considered the trinomial formula in the case that the rising rate of a stock price is u = e λσ√T n and the falling rate of the stock price …
Reducing Smart Contract Runtime Errors On The Ethereum Blockchain, Siwapol Jumnongsaksub
Reducing Smart Contract Runtime Errors On The Ethereum Blockchain, Siwapol Jumnongsaksub
Chulalongkorn University Theses and Dissertations (Chula ETD)
With smart contracts, a wide range of applications can be implemented on blockchains. Ethereum stores smart contract byte code with the smart contract ad-dress so, the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) can read and execute transactions correctly. All executed transactions (both successful and failed transactions) are stored on the platform permanently. Failed transactions are thrown by the EVM due to runtime errors and result in monetary waste. The waste from these transactions add up to around 2 million Ethers or $634.2 million. In this thesis, we propose Evitar, a warning algorithm for reducing Ethereum smart contract runtime errors, which has two …
