Thermodynamic Functions And Kinetic Models For Methelyne Blue Adsorption On Corn Straw Pulp., Mohamed Mohamed El-Halwany Nov 2020

Thermodynamic Functions And Kinetic Models For Methelyne Blue Adsorption On Corn Straw Pulp., Mohamed Mohamed El-Halwany

Mansoura Engineering Journal

Methylene Blue (MB) in aqueous solutions was subjected to color removal by the adsorption technique onto corn straw pulp (CSP) as a biosorbent waste agricultural material. Results obtained indicate that the removal efficiency of Methylene Blue at 25°C exceeds 91% and that the adsorption process is highly pH-dependent. The optimum pH lies between 5 and 9. The amount of Methylene Blue adsorbed from the aqueous solution increases with the increase of the initial Methylene Blue concentration and temperature. Smaller adsorbent particles help in increasing the percentage removal of Methylene Blue. The results fit the BET model for adsorption of Methylene …

The Family Of (6) Hebe, Sherry Fieber-Beyer, Michael J. Gaffey Nov 2020

The Family Of (6) Hebe, Sherry Fieber-Beyer, Michael J. Gaffey

Space Studies Faculty Publications

The fundamental science question we address in this research concerns the evolution of asteroid families; more specifically, does asteroid (6) Hebe have a genetic family, and does this genetic family provide insight into the structure of (6) Hebe? Hebe has been identified dynamically and spectroscopically as the H-chondrite parent body. The H chondrites exhibit a range of metamorphisms suggesting deep excavation from the parent body, an event expected to form a family. Previously, several small H-type asteroids were identified near Hebe, supporting this possibility, but they were insufficient to test its existence. We initiated a limited spectroscopic investigation of 36 …

Characteristics Biolubricant Enriched With Nanoparticle Additives: A Review, Zhahra Hanif Sholiha, Gaguk Jatisukamto

Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science and Technology (JMEST)

The engine movement mechanism is a system composed of machine elements that contact or rub against each other between these surfaces. Surfaces that rub against each other will cause a friction force that causes wear on the surface, so it requires energy to fight the friction force. Lubricants are needed to reduce friction and reduce wear rates, where lubricants are generally made of mineral materials. Lubricants made from synthetic materials are non-renewable and cause environmental problems. The development of biolubricants as lubricating materials based on animal fats or vegetable oils is continuously being carried out. This study aims to observe …

Functional Kernel Density Estimation: Point And Fourier Approaches To Time Series Anomaly Detection, Michael R. Lindstrom, Hyuntae Jung, Denis Larocque

School of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences Faculty Publications

We present an unsupervised method to detect anomalous time series among a collection of time series. To do so, we extend traditional Kernel Density Estimation for estimating probability distributions in Euclidean space to Hilbert spaces. The estimated probability densities we derive can be obtained formally through treating each series as a point in a Hilbert space, placing a kernel at those points, and summing the kernels (a “point approach”), or through using Kernel Density Estimation to approximate the distributions of Fourier mode coefficients to infer a probability density (a “Fourier approach”). We refer to these approaches as Functional Kernel Density …

Aryne-Guided C-H Functionalization Of Benzenoid Rings Using Diaryliodonium Salts, Aleksandra Nilova

Dissertations and Theses

The benzenoid core is a frequent and irreplaceable component of biologically active molecules. Structure function relationship of these compounds has been broadly analyzed and presented in numerous literature reports. Herein, we augmented existing knowledge by a broad analysis of the benzenoid substitution patterns in small molecule active pharmaceutical ingredients approved by the FDA. Our findings reveal a strong correlation that the most represented substitution patterns are those achieved via SEAr. Despite the rapid development of methods to functionalize benzenoid rings, the lack of synthetic methodologies to access sterically and electronically unfavorable positions is highlighted. We sought to establish …
