Missing In Action: Locating The Body In Interdisciplinary Studies, Ann Lenore Moradian
Master's Theses
This research project relied on the use of interdisciplinary literature, surveys and interviews to explore the prevalence of the human body and its movement across a variety of disciplines other than movement-based practices, and also to explore perspectives of movement experts regarding the knowledge, skills, and capacities they believed might be related to their practice-based work. In other words, what do movement practitioners and movement experts know, and who cares? The materials gathered were analyzed with the aim of understanding the range of possibilities for future work, and identifying areas of potential discourse, engagement, or collaboration across disciplines. The outcomes …
Synthesis And Evaluation Of N-(9'-Acridinyl)-O-Phenylhydroxylamines, Jana Forster
Synthesis And Evaluation Of N-(9'-Acridinyl)-O-Phenylhydroxylamines, Jana Forster
Master's Theses
Anilinoacridines are a class of compounds that are known to intercalate DNA. This class of compounds can be used as a target therapy to combat cell growth and replication. The anilinoacridines, DNA, and topoisomerase II will form a ternary complex that results in numerous strand scissions leading to apoptosis. Previous research has shown that the anilinoacridines can have a short half-life and produce harmful side products as a result of hydrolysis. The half-life could increase if this structure was slightly altered by making a molecule that does not readily hydrolyze. N-(9’-Acridinyl)-O-phenylhydroxylamines can be synthesized in three steps starting with commercially …

Purpose: Accurate metacognitive control is an essential component of effective clinical reasoning, as the inability to accurately pass judgment over knowledge has been associated with greater diagnostic error than lack of knowledge or poor memory. As such, it is necessary for educators of students in health sciences to assess metacognition in addition to academic performance. Calibration is a quantitative measurement used to operationalize metacognitive control, as it indicates the relationship between perceived and actual performance. Method: This study explored the relationship between local-level calibration and academic performance in 34 students of health sciences in an authentic, classroom setting. The class …
Dynamic Changes Of Trim62 Distribution In Rev Infected Chickens, Jie Yang, Ling Li, Xiaoman Wang, Ziqiang Cheng, Guihua Wang
Dynamic Changes Of Trim62 Distribution In Rev Infected Chickens, Jie Yang, Ling Li, Xiaoman Wang, Ziqiang Cheng, Guihua Wang
The Thai Journal of Veterinary Medicine
The tripartite motif containing 62 (TRIM62) is a host antiviral factor. It was demonstrated in our previous study that chicken TRIM62 significantly inhibited the replication of reticuloendotheliosisvirus (REV). However, the effect of viral infection on the distribution of TRIM62 is still unknown. In the present study, we tested and evaluated the tissue distribution of TRIM62 and the REV infection correlativity. We found that the distribution and mRNA expression of TRIM62 were first increased and then decreased upon REV infection. The decrease of TRIM62 was mostly in the spleen. The results suggest REV inhibited the antiviral activity of TRIM62 by decreasing …

Teaching Responsively During Covid-19: Learning How To Model, Modeling How To Learn, Lindsay M. Keazer
Education Faculty Publications
A teacher educator describes learning to teach responsively through the Covid-19 pandemic; shifting focus from secretly struggling to manage the upset of work/life balance, to living out the challenges in community with her students. By sharing struggles transparently rather than concealing, she found opportunities to connect with students about the complex challenges they were facing. This process was one of learning how to model empathetic education, and simultaneously modeling to future teachers how to learn to enact responsive pedagogies through unexpected challenges in teaching.

Positive Information Facilitates Response Inhibition In Older Adults Only When Emotion Is Task-Relevant, Samantha E Williams, Eric J Lenze, Jill D Waring
Open Access Publications
Emotional information is integral to everyday life and impacts a variety of cognitive abilities including response inhibition, a critical skill for maintaining appropriate and flexible behaviour. However, reported effects of emotion on response inhibition are inconsistent in younger adults, and very limited in older adults. Effects of aging are especially relevant because emotion regulation improves with aging despite declining inhibitory control over neutral information. Across three studies, we assessed the impact of emotional facial expressions on response inhibition in younger and older adults while manipulating attention to task stimuli. Emotional faces (versus neutral faces) altered response inhibition only when task …
