International Commercial Arbitration Law And Practice In Thailand, Parada Kaewparadai Dec 2019

International Commercial Arbitration Law And Practice In Thailand, Parada Kaewparadai

SJD Dissertations

International Commercial Arbitration is one of the essential mechanisms that support and facilitate international trade transactions, especially when the parties are from different nations. Since it is an alternative dispute resolution that provides a final and binding award that is enforceable through the national courts mostly everywhere around the world, it becomes the most popular dispute resolution for international enterprises. Arbitration has been in existence in Thai Laws for centuries, but its role has been minimal as litigation is the primary adjudicate method of the country. However, in the past twenty years, arbitration has been developing rapidly since Alternative Dispute …

Current State Of Precision Medicine In Primary Systemic Vasculitides, Erkan Demirkaya, Zehra Serap Arici, Micol Romano, Roberta Audrey Berard, Ivona Aksentijevich

Paediatrics Publications

Precision medicine (PM) is an emerging data-driven health care approach that integrates phenotypic, genomic, epigenetic, and environmental factors unique to an individual. The goal of PM is to facilitate diagnosis, predict effective therapy, and avoid adverse reactions specific for each patient. The forefront of PM is in oncology; nonetheless, it is developing in other fields of medicine, including rheumatology. Recent studies on elucidating the genetic architecture of polygenic and monogenic rheumatological diseases have made PM possible by enabling physicians to customize medical treatment through the incorporation of clinical features and genetic data. For complex inflammatory disorders, the prevailing paradigm is …

Resin And Magnetic Nanoparticle-Based Free Radical Probes For Glycan Capture, Isolation, And Structural Characterization, Kimberly Fabijanczuk, Kaylee Gaspar, Nikunj Desai, Jungeun Lee, Daniel A. Thomas, J. L. Beauchamp, Jinshan Gao Dec 2019

Resin And Magnetic Nanoparticle-Based Free Radical Probes For Glycan Capture, Isolation, And Structural Characterization, Kimberly Fabijanczuk, Kaylee Gaspar, Nikunj Desai, Jungeun Lee, Daniel A. Thomas, J. L. Beauchamp, Jinshan Gao

Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry Faculty Scholarship and Creative Works

By combining the merits of solid supports and free radical activated glycan sequencing (FRAGS) reagents, we develop a multifunctional solid-supported free radical probe (SS-FRAGS) that enables glycan enrichment and characterization. SS-FRAGS comprises a solid support, free radical precursor, disulfide bond, pyridyl, and hydrazine moieties. Thio-activated resin and magnetic nanoparticles (MNPs) are chosen as the solid support to selectively capture free glycans via the hydrazine moiety, allowing for their enrichment and isolation. The disulfide bond acts as a temporary covalent linkage between the solid support and the captured glycan, allowing the release of glycans via the cleavage of the disulfide bond …

Sensitivity Of The Global Carbonate Weathering Carbon-Sink Flux To Climate And Land-Use Change, Sibo Zeng, Zaihua Liu, Georg Kaufmann Dec 2019

Sensitivity Of The Global Carbonate Weathering Carbon-Sink Flux To Climate And Land-Use Change, Sibo Zeng, Zaihua Liu, Georg Kaufmann

KIP Articles

The response of carbonate weathering carbon-sink flux (CCSF) to its environmental drivers is still not well understood on the global scale. This hinders understanding of the terrestrial carbon cycle. Here, we show that there is likely to be a widespread and consistent increase in the global CCSF (ranging from + 9.8% (RCP4.5) to + 17.1% (RCP8.5)) over the period 1950–2100. In the coming years the increasing temperature might be expected to have a negative impact on carbonate weathering. However, the increasing rainfall and anticipated land-use changes will counteract this, leading to a greater CCSF. This finding has been obtained by …

Another Christmas Card Letter, Jase Graves Dec 2019

Another Christmas Card Letter, Jase Graves

Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop Blog

Dear Reader, Have you ever received one of those Christmas cards containing an ominously folded piece of typing paper? You know, the one where you reluctantly open it, and you are suddenly afflicted with an insufferable multi-paragraph essay detailing the past year's activities of a distant relative or forgettable acquaintance. Hopefully you're a glutton for punishment because you are about to read another one - only this time, most of you only know me as that nut who writes about how his three daughters spend all of his cash, his wife laughs at him a lot, and his pets take …

Same Tree Next Year, Regina Stoops

Erma Bombeck Writers' Workshop Blog

"But we have a tree, what are you going to do with our tree, you can't just leave it outside, it's our tree!" The tree in question was a very scrappy looking potted pine that we'd brought in from the backyard each year for Christmas. We'd had the tree so long we can't really remember when or where it appeared. The first year it was a tabletop decoration, the picture perfect tree in miniature with full, needle filled branches and a lovely triangle shape. After its moment of glory it was put outside and mostly forgotten about. We rewarded its …

Rideshare Issues And Implications For Curb Management, Brandon Leonard Utterback Dec 2019

Rideshare Issues And Implications For Curb Management, Brandon Leonard Utterback

Landscape Architecture Masters & Design Theses - Archive

As autonomous vehicles continue to prove themselves on our roads today, a look at the considerations of implementation will be necessary. The potential for rethinking our infrastructure requirements, as a result of this new technology, could be a significant benefit to everyday life in terms of safety, congestion, and travel behavior. We must also consider the potential impact on the environment, which is often overlooked. If automobile infrastructure such as roads and parking lots are reduced in urban areas, how will this rediscovered urban space be used? How will planners, designers, and policymakers adapt our infrastructure needs when less pressure …

Microfiber Concentrations In Sand From Nesting Sea Turtle Beaches In Costa Rica, South Carolina, And Florida., Kaylin Leroy, George Boneillo

Honors Theses

Microplastics are an increasing threat to marine environments and the organisms that inhabit them. Since plastic pollution in the ocean is prominent throughout the globe, microplastic is washing ashore, affecting important sea turtle nesting sites. This study quantified microfibers in the sand of various sea turtle nesting sites around the world. Sand samples were collected in Myrtle Beach (South Carolina), Destin (Florida) and the Pacuare Reserve (Costa Rica). The microfibers were retrieved using a super saline solution and then filtered under a hood. Filters were then counted using microscopy. Microfibers were found at every sampling site, with the lowest surface …
